Chapter 363: Left Wall Of The Imperial Kingdom, Monster Battlefield

The lizard guards stationed on the left wall of the [Imperial Kingdom]’s outer perimeter were visibly overwhelmed by the sheer number of enemies pressing against their defenses.

Their reptilian faces were showing clear signs of exhaustion as they fought wave after wave of monsters that seemed to have no end in sight.

Of course, they were all level 100 individually, allowing them to defeat their enemies rather easily when facing them without any trouble.

But the sheer amount of monsters was the real problem that made their job so difficult and draining.

Hundreds of guards against thousands of monsters could easily tire them out if the horde never ceased its relentless assault on the walls, and they had been at this for hours without any real break or rotation system to speak of.

Among the lizard guards were a few commanders ones, like the one that had helped Leon before, with much larger presences and more ornate armors.

Their movements more confident and their attacks more devastating.

’Do they actually evolve when they get promoted, or are only the ones that get promoted naturally this big?’ Leon thought to himself, curious about the lizard race’s biology.

Either way, they were the ones doing a majority of the work, protecting those that got tired and even helping some players who had wandered too close to the danger.

As for players... it was an interesting sight to behold, because many attempted to help the guards in their fight, but many times he saw scenes of them being torn apart by monsters that were simply too strong for them to handle alone.

It was clearly not a place for ordinary people, even those at level 95 with decent equipment, to roam freely, no matter how confident they were in their abilities or how much experience they had accumulated over time.

Leon watched as a pack of wolves tore through a demon who was fighting alone, his screams echoing across the battlefield before being cut short by the brutal assault of the creatures.

He saw a massive monster with a pincer cut through an elf in a single snap, the player’s body collapsing before it even hit the ground, his allies too far away to help him.

It was a true battlefield, chaotic and brutal in every sense of the word.

But to Leon, compared to what came next, the sight was actually... rather boring.

Regardless of the chaos unfolding around them, Leon couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration for what his companions had been doing in his absence.

"So this is what you guys have been through for the past month, huh," Leon grinned, "Good, that explains why you’ve grown so much."

"And we didn’t die even once during all that time we spent fighting," Emilia announced with pride, then she quickly added, "Though it was close many times."

"Hm," Leon nodded, acknowledging her achievement with a thoughtful expression.

"Celeste doesn’t really need to be scared of death since she has her phoenix abilities that can bring her back," Emilia continued, "But since I only have one [Resurrection Stone] left I had to adapt and be much more careful than usual."

"Look at this," she said, closing her eyes.

Emilia closed her eyes and focused on her powers, channeling her immense spirit into her spellcasting, and once she opened them, her eyes and staff glowed with intense magical energy that crackled in the air around her.

DIVINE BEAM!

She unleashed the beam from her scepter in a wide arc, hitting several monsters with it and even controlling her scepter’s movement to hit more targets in a sweeping motion that cleared a path through the horde.

She had to be extremely careful not to hit any guards and players who were fighting nearby, but she simply lifted the beam once it came close to anyone, showing remarkable control and precision that came from hours of practice.

The power of her spells was absolutely terrifying, enough to obliterate the monsters in an instant without leaving any trace behind, their bodies disintegrating.

She also used other skills like [Spectral Flames] and [Bone Shuffle] to clear out groups of enemies that were threatening others, her versatility making her a valuable asset on the battlefield.

In fact, in just a few seconds, Emilia had saved many players from certain death and helped many guards who were about to be overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of enemies pressing against them.

"Its [Saintess]," one of the players shouted with joy as he recognized her, "And [UndyingPhoenix]’s with her, thank the gods we’re saved!"

"Finally this is gonna be manageable with them here," another player added, relief evident in his voice.

Hearing others call out their names with such relief and admiration, Leon realized the girls weren’t joking when they said this helped them build a reputation with the kingdom and its inhabitants, their names clearly well-known.

"Still though," Emilia sighed with frustration, her shoulders slumping slightly, "That’s not even enough to level up once at this point, I gain too little experience from these monsters now."

The reason for that was simple: after level 90, leveling up would be even more difficult as the required experience gain increases exponentially instead of it being a fixed amount each time, making progress much slower.

That was something Leon both feared and was excited about because of his [Will of Nature] curse, which increased the experience needed.

He’d be able to grind for more items thanks to that curse, but it would also take much longer to level up compared to other players who didn’t have such limitations.

And in the [Eternal Domain], there was no level cap at all, meaning it would take him a very long time to level up each time as the requirements kept growing.

This could potentially hinder his attempt to fight the gods if he couldn’t reach a high enough level in time, but for now Leon didn’t mind too much because he had other ways to grow stronger.

Celeste summoned Pyra out of her pet space and the majestic phoenix appeared in a burst of flames that illuminated the place, unleashing her [Torrent of Flames] across several enemies and burning them to ash in an instant.

"Pyra is level 3 right now," Celeste explained, "But just like me and Emilia, no matter how many enemies she kills here, she doesn’t level up at all."

"Then maybe its time to move to the back of the kingdom where the stronger monsters are," Leon proposed, his eyes scanning the horizon.

Hearing that, the girls shook their heads nervously, their expressions showing clear hesitation, "Huh... level 100 monsters are really scary, so not yet."

"Also we were kinda waiting for you to come back before we attempted anything too dangerous, so we stayed in the safer areas."

"Alright," Leon sighed as he took a step forward, lifting his staff, eager to show what he could do.

Vines of Torment! Shadow Bullets!

Leon’s magic wasn’t as high as Emilia’s due to her spirit multiplier that gave her insane magical power, but Leon was still at the pinnacle of magic usage among players, his abilities formidable.

His vines erupted all over the ground of the battlefield, snatching around a dozen monsters and crushing them with incredible force, their bodies snapping under the pressure.

As for the [Shadow Bullets], he summoned thirty of them at once and sent them toward each enemy’s head with deadly precision, the dark projectiles streaking through the air.

SNAP!

Each head it hit almost instantly exploded from the sheer power of the bullets, the monsters dropping dead before they even knew what hit them, and the notifications flowed in rapid succession.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

[You have killed "Hollow Wolf (Level 94)" and gained...]

[You have killed "Fireshock Ant (Level 94)" and gained...]

[You have killed...]

[100% Drop Rate has triggered, items have been automatically placed in your storage space.]

Leon didn’t care much about any of the items that dropped, his focus on the essences, but he made sure to hand every essence related to [Spirit] and [Constitution] to Emilia so she could grow stronger and more durable.

Celeste still had her [Phoenix Ember] to help her gain stats from killing enemies, so she didn’t need the essences as much as Emilia did.

Thanks to all his skills and the constant fighting, he also managed to level up twice more, and he continued like this for around two hours until finally, another notification appeared before him.

Ding!

[Congratulations, you have leveled up to Level 90.]

[All your attributes have increased by 1,000 and you have gained 1,000 free attribute points.]

But more than that, what was interesting was what appeared after, a new message that explained the changes going forward and what to expect.

[Since you have reached level 90, the experience points you need to level up will greatly vary.]
