Chapter 117 117: The First Forbidden Spell, Oblivion Meteor
Ding!
[You have learned the forbidden spell: “Oblivion Meteor”.]
Leon stood still for a moment after reading the notification.
Even in his past life, when he had reached heights that most players could only dream of, he had never managed to obtain a [Forbidden Spell] or a [Forbidden Skill].
They were simply too rare, powerful and heavily guarded.
Even top guild leaders, divine class players, and those who stood at the peak of the [Higher Domain] struggled to obtain one.
Many spent years chasing rumors. Some risked everything by making dangerous pacts.
Others tried to complete impossible quests that often ended in failure.
And one of the most common ways to obtain such power was to submit to a god.
Not every god granted forbidden abilities, since their domains differed.
Some gods offered blessings. Others offered unique skills or bloodline enhancements.
But the [God of Magic] was known for one thing.
Every one of his true servants received at least one [Forbidden Spell].
That alone made them terrifying.
If Leon ever encountered those individuals in the future, he would have to be extremely careful.
A forbidden spell was not something you could casually block or dodge.
Leon quickly opened his status panel to check the details.
[Forbidden Skills/Spells: Oblivion Meteor]
“Oh?”
He raised an eyebrow. A new category had appeared in his status window.
It was placed right below the [Skills] section, separated clearly from everything else.
Forbidden abilities were not ranked like normal skills.
They stood outside that system. They were in a category of their own.
Without wasting any time, Leon opened the new panel.
[Oblivion Meteor (Forbidden Spell): Channel the power of your spirit to summon a massive meteor from the heavens to annihilate all that is in your way.]
Leon read the description slowly. It was simple. But it was terrifying.
Unlike normal skills, forbidden abilities could not be leveled up.
They scaled directly with the user. The stronger the caster, the stronger the forbidden spell.
And with Leon’s current [Spirit] stat, which had just undergone explosive growth, the destructive potential of this spell would be monstrous.
He did not need detailed numbers to understand that.
He could already imagine it. A meteor falling from the sky. Annihilating everything in its path.
Wiping out entire groups of enemies at once.
“I reckon it will take a lot out of me to use it,” Leon muttered quietly.
Forbidden spells always had a cost. Some had massive cooldowns.
Some drained nearly all of the user’s mana. Some consumed health.
And some had even more dangerous consequences.
The system did not show the cost directly in the description, which meant he would have to test it eventually.
He wanted to try it right now. He really did. But this was not the place.
Using a forbidden spell recklessly would be foolish.
He had just completed the [Secret Realm], and there was no enemy before him.
He would save it for a battle he might otherwise lose. Only then would it be worth the risk.
After confirming everything about his new spell, Leon finally allowed himself to relax slightly.
Fwoosh!
A portal appeared in front of him.
It shimmered softly, signaling the exit of the [Secret Realm].
Since the [Forbidden Spell Book] was unique, no one else would be able to complete this place again.
Many [Secret Realms] only allowed one true completion.
Once the main reward was claimed, the realm would disappear permanently.
Leon took one last look around the empty chamber.
Then he stepped forward and entered the portal.
Ding!
[The “Trace of Magic Chamber” secret realm will now permanently disappear.]
“Expected,” Leon thought calmly as his body was enveloped by light.
Fwoosh!
A few seconds later, he emerged outside the [Star Magic Cave].
The first thing he noticed was the brightness. It was daytime.
Leon narrowed his eyes slightly.
“How long was I in there?”
Inside the [Secret Realm], it had felt like fifteen minutes at most. Maybe twenty.
But time often flowed differently in special spaces.
He quickly opened his [Friend List] and checked his friends.
Eleonore, David, Aliceand Aaron.
Their statuses all displayed the same thing: [Intermediate Divine Temple]
That meant they had reached Level 25 and were currently undergoing their second assessment.
‘Good.’
That was faster than most players. As for Emilia, her status still showed [Lower Domain #1].
Leon immediately sent a message.
[Celestial: Hello. How long has it been?]
That was the most important question. If she replied, that meant she was safe.
A few seconds later, a response appeared.
[Saintess: Thank god you are back, it has been around six hours (ಥ﹏ಥ)]
Six hours. Leon did not react outwardly, but he felt relieved.
It was longer than he thought, but not disastrous.
[Celestial: Alright. I am heading back to “Myriad Race City” to deal with something there.]
Now that his strength had increased so dramatically, he felt confident.
Confident enough to challenge the lord of [Myriad Race City].
There was an item there he wanted. After that, he did not have much left to do in the [Lower Domain].
He could enter the [Farlands] using the token he possessed.
As for the [Shadow Assassin Guild] and the [Church of Light], there was little he could do for now.
Traveling between different [Lower Domains] was not something players could easily accomplish.
He clenched his jaw slightly.
“I really wanted to get rid of them while they are still weak,” he thought.
But there was no clear method available to him at the moment.
All he could do was continue growing stronger.
Without wasting time, Leon began moving toward [Myriad Race City].
His increased [Agility] made the difference obvious.
Fwoosh!
He moved like a blur across the terrain. On the way, he passed the [Elven Stronghold].
It looked the same as before.
“They have not upgraded it yet,” Leon thought. “Probably preparing for the [Monster Tide].”
It did not concern him. As long as they did not interfere with him, he had no reason to involve himself.
About fifteen minutes later, he reached a high vantage point where [Myriad Race City] came into view.
The massive city stood tall in the distance, its walls thick and imposing.
But Leon did not immediately advance. Instead, he stopped.
Around him, monsters and players were fighting in small groups, grinding for experience. S
houts and spell effects filled the air.
Leon ignored them. His gaze was fixed on the city.
A thought had just formed in his mind. A dangerous thought.
“Could I use that?” he wondered quietly.
His eyes shifted to his status panel. Specifically, to one line.
[Forbidden Skills/Spells: Oblivion Meteor]
If he used it here and targeted the city.
If he summoned a meteor from the heavens directly onto one of its defensive structures.
The result would be catastrophic.
Even if he did not destroy the entire city, the chaos alone would be unimaginable.
Players would panic. NPC guards would scramble. The city lord would be forced to appear.
It would be the fastest way to provoke a direct confrontation. But it would also paint a target on his back.
A forbidden spell was not subtle after all. Leon stood silently, staring at the distant walls.
And…
Ding!
[Saintess: I’m inside “Myriad Race City” waiting for you :3!]
“Yeah…” Leon sighed, “Nevermind.”
