Chapter 121: Chapter121-Betrayal?

Loki drew his sword.

Golden holy light instantly flooded the entire command tent!

John’s eyes narrowed.

The next second—

The blade was already right in front of him!

BOOM—!!!

The entire tent was blown apart by the impact!

John activated Void Shift.

His figure vanished from the spot.

The sword strike missed.

Several wooden racks and tents along its path were sliced apart at the same time.

The surrounding soldiers immediately erupted into chaos.

"Commander?!"

"Enemy attack?"

"Did Endbringer start fighting the Commander again?!"

Several soldiers were already preparing to rush over.

Without even turning his head, Loki shouted,

"Everyone, stay back!"

He gripped his sword with both hands.

Holy light rapidly flowed across his armor.

[War Prayer!]

[Radiant Battlefield!]

A vast expanse of golden light instantly enveloped the surrounding area.

John reappeared in the distance.

He looked at Loki, who had suddenly become serious.

"You’re actually doing this?"

Loki charged forward with his sword.

"The Church demanded that I deal with you."

"I have to give them some kind of answer."

"Fine."

John tightened his grip on the Void Staff.

"Then let’s fight."

BOOM!

Both of them vanished from where they stood at the same time.

Holy light collided head-on with Void power!

The ground nearby exploded instantly.

Loki swept his sword horizontally.

John leaned aside and dodged.

The blade wave skimmed past his shoulder and tore a massive gash through an entire row of barracks behind him.

John immediately raised his staff.

"Thunder Prison Chains!"

Countless chains of lightning burst out of the ground.

Holy light surged around Loki.

He forcibly broke free from the first layer of restraints.

But [Double Bind] triggered immediately afterward.

Even more chains wrapped around his arms and legs from the sides.

Loki’s movements slowed for a split second.

John had already pulled away.

"Fire Dragon."

A dragon roar rang out.

A massive wave of flames came crashing down from the front!

BOOM—!!!

Loki raised his shield.

A golden barrier instantly unfolded.

Fire Dragon slammed directly into it.

The tremendous impact pushed Loki backward across the ground.

Cracks spread continuously beneath his feet.

Before the holy light could stabilize—

Several Void Spears had already pierced through the flames.

BANG!

The first spear struck the shield.

The golden barrier shook violently.

The second followed immediately.

Cracks began spreading across its surface.

Then the third wave of attacks landed.

BOOM!

The holy barrier shattered on the spot!

Loki was blasted backward.

His body smashed through the outer wall of a warehouse.

Dust exploded into the air.

The surrounding soldiers watched with twitching eyelids.

Yesterday, the Commander had still been praising this guy for his tremendous contribution.

How had things turned into demolishing the military camp today?

Inside the ruins—

Golden light lit up once again.

Loki suddenly charged out.

[Holy Charge!]

His speed skyrocketed.

John had only just raised his staff when the holy shield slammed into him.

BANG!

The tremendous force sent John sliding backward.

The instant his HP changed—

A low growl suddenly came from the distance.

Light flashed across Ice Rose’s body.

[Mobile Health Pack triggered!]

[Damage transferred!]

John lowered his head and glanced at himself.

"Almost forgot I still had that."

Loki: "..."

So if he wanted to hurt John, he had to beat up the turtle first?

What kind of ridiculous ability was this?

John raised his head.

The corner of his mouth curled upward.

"My turn."

A silver-gray rift opened.

His figure vanished instantly.

Loki spun around sharply.

Still too slow.

John had already appeared behind him to the side.

The Void Staff pointed forward.

[Gravity Black Hole—White Hole!]

BOOM—!!!

A violent repulsive force erupted at point-blank range.

Loki was blasted away head-on.

After smashing through several walls in succession—

He crashed heavily into a pile of ruins at the edge of the camp.

Wooden beams and rubble collapsed over him.

At last, everything went quiet.

John stepped over the debris and walked toward him.

Loki lay in the ruins.

His armor was covered in dust.

Even his sword had fallen beside him.

He looked thoroughly battered.

John glanced at him once, then turned to leave.

Loki used his sword to support himself as he stood back up.

Looking at John’s retreating figure, he said,

"At least now I have something to tell the Church..."

...

The Dawnstar City treasury was located behind the military district.

The guards around it were noticeably tighter than anywhere else.

John had only just approached when he spotted a familiar small figure.

White hair.

Black hunting gear.

She was crouched by the roadside, studying the access order in her hands.

"Aya."

The girl looked up.

The moment she saw John, she immediately stood.

"Boss!"

She hurried over.

"You’re here to pick something too?"

"Yeah."

Aya’s eyes sparkled.

She had clearly been looking forward to this for a long time.

The two of them walked toward the treasury entrance together.

An old wooden chair sat beside the door.

And on that chair—

A white-bearded old man was leaning against the backrest, snoring loudly.

His build was absurdly muscular.

His exposed arms were thicker than an ordinary person’s thighs.

A black eyepatch covered his left eye.

A massive battle axe rested casually beside his right hand.

His snores were impressively loud.

Aya slowed down.

"Boss."

"Is he sleeping?"

John glanced at him.

"Obviously."

The two stopped in front of him.

The old man showed no reaction.

Aya cautiously waved a hand.

"Grandpa?"

Nothing.

John raised an eyebrow slightly.

Anyone assigned to guard the Dawnstar City treasury—

and who dared sleep this soundly right outside the entrance—

couldn’t possibly be some ordinary NPC.

John activated a skill with a thought.

[Hunter’s Eye!]

His vision instantly changed.

[Name: ???]

[Level: ???]

[Life Tier: ???]

[HP: ???]

[Physical Attack: ???]

[Physical Defense: ???]

[Magic Defense: ???]

[Talent: ???]

[Skills: ???]

[Warning: Target’s strength far exceeds current detection range!]

John’s eyelid twitched slightly.

Nothing but question marks.

Hunter’s Eye had already evolved to SS-rank.

Even against the Lv130 Night King projection, he had at least been able to see its name and level.

Yet this white-bearded old man...

John couldn’t see a single thing.

He silently crushed a certain thought that had just appeared in his mind.

Originally, he had been thinking—

Since he was already entering the treasury anyway...

If the security inside happened to be lax, taking a little extra on the way out seemed perfectly reasonable.

Now, though...

One item each.

Perfect.

A person should follow the rules.

Aya clearly wasn’t having nearly as many thoughts as John.

She waited for quite a while.

Seeing the old man close his eyes again, she quickly grew impatient.

"Grandpa."

"Wake up."

No response.

Aya reached out and pushed his shoulder.

"Stop sleeping."

"Loki sent us here to collect our quest rewards."

"We’re in a hurry."

The white-bearded old man couldn’t even be bothered to open his eyes.

His snoring paused for a moment.

Then he reached up, tugged something from around his neck, and tossed it over.

A palm-sized bronze key flew through the air.

Aya hurriedly caught it.

The old man rolled over.

"So annoying..."

"Take it."

"Go in and pick for yourselves."

"One item each."

With that—

His snores started up again.

Aya: "..."

She looked at the key.

Then at the old man.

She couldn’t help rolling her eyes.

By then, John was already walking toward the treasury doors.

"Open it."

"Oh."
