Omega Summoner
Chapter 3056: The Thieves Guild
Adrian is shocked to find one of the oldest organizations in the central continent as they should not be out in the open like this. The Thieves Guild are basically called that because they do any odd jobs that deal with information, extortion, petty theft, and tomb raiding. They would do it all for a high commission and they will also kill for a high price.
One would think that any organization could be just like that but the Thieves Guild is different because all of them are professional assassins that could silently kill any person. They are known for completing their objectives without even leaving any trace of their existence. The only reason why their existence is known is through word of mouth as it is said that you would need to find a special coin to even commission them for a job.
It is also known that the Thieves Guild will do any request as long as you can produce their special coin. There are even rumors that one of their special coins was auctioned in the black market for a million gold coins. The Thieves Guild could kill anyone and that included demigods which is why some of the demigods that offended a lot of people are in hiding back then.
The only reason that Adrian knows of the Thieves Guild is due to the fact that he collected some poor unfortunate souls that were killed by them. Those souls basically ranted how it happened which also gave Adrian all the basic information about the Thieves Guild. Still, Adrian is very pleased with the information network of restless spirits because he learns vital information like this.
"Kill them and leave nothing behind." A silent command has already spread across all of the hooded figures as they moved in a coordinated manner which all aimed for the kill.
A small volley of arrows that were released from a crossbow were aimed towards Adrian and the others. The arrows did not reach them though as Adrian merely twisted space and broke all of them at once. The Thieves Guild did not know what happened and they could not recognize Adrian because he was currently transformed into a human form.
"Long range attacks are useless. Kill them using melee weapons." Another command entered the ears of the Thieves Guild members.
All of the Thieves Guild Members attacked while a small part of them grabbed at the two unconscious NPCs. Adrian noticed this immediately and is about to make a grab towards the two NPCs when numerous daggers were flung towards him. Apolaki made a wide swing with his blade and all of the daggers were sent back.
The sudden counterattack from Apolaki was not expected which resulted in some of the Thieves Guild members getting stabbed by their own daggers. Even with their bodies pierced by their own daggers, the Thieves Guild members grabbed at the embedded daggers and still swung them towards Adrian’s group. The one that was targeted the most is indeed Adrian but all of the daggers were blocked by a barrier made of six different elements.
Kanlaon could be seen coiled around his neck while six dragon orbs sat on his neck as well. Adrian did not do anything else because Sirius is also in his shadow. The Thieves Guild members that were blocked by the barrier around Adrian were all pierced with shadow spikes. Sirius did not even emit any sound and just assassinated assassins. Some managed to escape though as they were not pierced in their vital spots.
The Thieves Guild members that died did not even drop any interesting item which means all of them were broke. The Thieves Guild members here must have emptied their pockets and only took what they needed. The only thing useful is that the Thieves Guild members’ corpses did not vanish upon getting killed.
The souls of these Thieves Guild Members would have been a nice catch but their souls actually vanished before Adrian’s eyes. He wanted to at least torture one and use the souls of the living to peer into what they know about their organization. He did not expect that the souls of these Thieves Guild members were already written in a contract with a god.
The only way to bypass Adrian’s power as the mediator of death is when the soul in question is already promised to another god. It can be other gods and not necessarily a god of death which is why it is tricky to find out which god has contracted them. Adrian needed a live specimen to extract memories from but any Thieves Guild member that he captures would always kill themselves by piercing their heart with their very own daggers.
"They would rather kill themselves than have others know of their internal affairs. Their trust and loyalty are commendable as they do not even hesitate. Any good leads on your end?" Adrian stated as he then looked towards Apolaki as the question was stated.
"Not really. All of them killed themselves before I could make a grab for one." Apolaki stated honestly while he is still fighting.
"Everyone, retreat." One of the Thieves Guild members stated which made the others that were tossing their life suddenly become orderly to make a retreat.
All of the Thieves Guild members scattered upon receiving the signal. All of them took out a stone pellet that is pitch black and then smashed it on the ground. As soon as the stone pellet was destroyed, a puff of smoke covered the area and all of them instantly retreated. Adrian smiled as he twisted the dimensions and tagged the ones that tried to leave.
"Cascade Reality." Adrian stated as all of the Thieves Guild members that tried to escape around him suddenly found themselves near him once more.
The Thieves Guild members could not believe that all of them appeared in the area next to Adrian. All of them also felt the space around them change for a moment but Sirius was not one to be silent forever. The ones nearest Adrian found themselves in the giant jaws of a black wolf that emerged from the shadows.
"The Demon!" One of the higher-ranking members of the Thieves Guild muttered and those that wanted to help their comrades turned tail and run. Even the one calling the shots vanished from the area as soon as they heard the moniker of the Demon.
The Thieves Guild basically sacrificed all of its members that were about to die or at death’s door. Adrian could not believe their practice as he could not harvest one soul to interrogate. He then proceeded to just kill everyone that saw him here now. He is currently undercover because some entities are clearly observing him more than ever.
"They are retreating." Maya stated.
"They are retreating but they will never forget this grudge and make sure to track as down as a priority target." Apolaki stated as he looked like Adrian does not grade anything.
"They will never let this slide. If I am not wrong, all of us should have our faces in the job bulletin of the Thieves Guild Permanently. They will make sure that they are ready to execute to the death of me. It also means that all of you should make sure that you are not suddenly stabbed in the back by another person.
The Thieves Guild is very much known for having masters of disguises so it is not farfetched to say that they can morph into anyone. They also hold grudges by a lot which means even areas that are supposed to be safe can turn into a battlefield in under an hour. Make sure that all of you are aware of your surroundings all the time from now on." Adrian stated.
"That said, the ones that are observing us from some distance should all be killed. Sirius and Charon should be able to do that." Adrian stated as his shadow vanished and the chains on his waist vanished as well.
The muffled screams of numerous assassins were not heard as all of them died before they could notice that they are gone for good. The ones that stayed behind to observe Adrian and the others were not as powerful as the ones that attacked before. They were definitely not beings that could rival demigods hence Sirius and Charon did not have any problem with them.
Sirius pierced each of them with shadow spikes that emerged from corners where they could not react on time. Charon had chains manifest around their necks and then choke the life out of them in an instant. It is easy to say that the clean up of the assassins were much easier compared to the fight earlier.
"We did not exert much effort in the fight earlier because they were more worried about those NPCs than us. Also, the five demigod experts that I sensed were clearly observing and not taking action. Anyways, I prefer that since we have other matters to attend to." Adrian stated as he looked at the cavern that was created.
