Chapter 2868: The Stone Egg II

“Yes.” Adrian replied.

As soon as Adrian replied, the Stone Egg that only had a faint glow on it suddenly shone like a fine piece of emerald. The Stone Egg that looked like a normal rock suddenly had swirls of gold and jade rings on it. The Stone Egg itself has changed into something different as soon as the Egg Strain Chooser was used upon it.

“I did not think that it would be done in an instant. Relics from the past are really convenient and do not disappoint.” Adrian muttered as he looked at the new description of the egg.

Description: A monster egg that has been filled with the divine spark of the deceased Monkey King who is considered as one of the Primordial Divine Beast Kings. The monkey beast that will hatch from this egg will gain the special strain of the Monkey King which can make them evolve to that path. It looks like a normal round stone which many can confuse it from as it does not look like an egg at all.

An Egg Strain Chooser was used on this egg to transform it into a mythical variant monster egg. It has used all of the energy that makes it a legendary egg and focused the egg to upgrade itself. It now only contains the elite part of the monster strain. This egg will guarantee a Mythical Strain beast.

“What did you do, brat? The egg suddenly feels different as if it became an egg of a true divine being. It already smelled like it will produce a powerful monster but its scent has become incredibly strong.” Old Man Pann asked as he suddenly felt that the presence in the egg became morre pronounced and regal.

“I used something called an Egg Strain Chooser which basically upgrades an egg or makes it have a strain. It is something an old monster breeder and scribe created.” Adrian stated.

“Brat! You used something that went against the laws of nature! Will you not be punished by the gods of life?” Old Man Pann asked as he is not sure what Adrian did is totally legal or is in accordance with the laws of life.

“Why? It is not illegal to make a monster mutate or let it have a strain. The only thing illegal is if you are toying with life and death. As long as the dead remain dead or the living remain alive then the gods of life and death will not bother. That is only feasible for mortals but things become different when a god does it.

The laws for gods are incredibly strict compared to when a mortal is involved. There is a reason why necromancers are not persecuted anymore after all because the gods of life and death have no problem with them.” Adrian pointed out but Old Man Pann is still conflicted of using an item to suddenly give the monster a mutation.

“It is no different to when you feed an evolution material to your soulbound. You are just injecting the egg with a bonus in life as they get mutated before they hatch. This egg is basically living the golden spoon life even before it hatches.” Adrian added.

“Fine! Since you are not getting hit by divine retribution, go and hatch the egg already. I want to see the beast that hatches from it now more than ever.” Old Man Pann stated.

Adrian then looked at the egg once more and could not believe that the energy cost has already increased by five times. He thought that upgrading it to mythical will only increase the energy cost by two but it increased by a whopping five times. He cannot believe that an exponential increase will happen.

“Let us find a place to do that then. We cannot really perform it here in front of your farm.” Adrian stated which made Old Man Pann grab him by the scruff of his clothes to teleport inside.

Adrian could feel that he and Old Man Pann are really in a different league even though both of them are Noblesse. The difference between Adrian and the three elders are merely levels but the difference between him and Old Man Pann are not merely levels. It seems that Adrian felt the experience and the old power hidden inside Old Man Pann now that he is also a Noblesse.

“This place will be quiet as the other beasts are still roaming the lot. You can hatch it here so that I can also guard you while you do it.” Old Man Pann stated which warmed Adrian’s heart as it seems that the former has yet to truly speak freely before him.

“You know that you can say that you are concerned without that brash tone, right?” Adrian teased but Old Man Pann just glared at him.

“Hurry up, lad! I do not have all day!” Old Man Pann urged.

“Fine… you are more excited than I am.” Adrian retorted and chuckled slightly after.

Adrian then proceeded to inject some of his chaos energy into the egg to see if it would get rejected but it surprised him that it was not. The egg even started to funnel more from Adrian’s energy as if it hungered for it. Adrian did not expect that this egg would eat more than he is giving and would even forcefully extract more energy from him.

Adrian tried to slow it down but the egg gulped the chaos energy he emitted nonstop. Even Old Man Pann cannot help Adrian with this predicament as severing the link between the egg and him would definitely harm them both even if the former was more worried about the egg than him. Old Man Pann also knows that Adrian will just revive even if he dies so he is not that scared since the egg is not a being that could erase another’s existence.

“Need to drink!” Adrian stated as he immediately opened his inventory when his chaos energy plummeted to 30%.

Fortunately for Adrian, mana potions still work for him and recovered his chaos energy. The mana that should be recovered by the mana potion is recovering chaos energy instead. The only downside is that chaos energy recovers only a quarter of the effect instead of the full 100%. The upside is that Adrian will never be afflicted by mana poisoning from overconsumption of mana potions.

“How much more?!” Adrian thought as he inspected the Stone Egg.

“Seriously!” Adrian exclaimed as the proportion of chaos energy consumed is not proportional to the energy being absorbed by the egg.

Adrian could not believe that even the egg will have some of the energy it absorbed be released or vanish. This is quite normal for any item that absorbs energy as the conversion rate is not always 100% but the fact that an egg with an intelligent being inside of it is not being efficient has suddenly made Adrian re-evaluating things.

“Fine! Absorb everything that you can!” Adrian stated as he started chugging mana potions even though he is starting to get sick from the flavor of the vials entering his mouth. He cannot stop or else everything would revert back to zero and he will do it all over again.

Adrian did not know how many mana potions he drank but he is very thankful that Brew made them blueberry flavored. If it was the mana potion that was sold back when he started then he would have been throwing up from the bitter taste. When Adrian has probably gone with his tenth or eleventh mana potion, he finally saw that the egg lit up completely.

“Finally!” Adrian shouted as he surrendered to the floor from exhaustion.

Adrian did not expect that he would be more exhausted dealing with an egg compared to when he fought gods. The Stone Egg that has gold and jade rings on it glowed in the light made by Chaos Energy. It is extremely clear that Adrian might have influenced the egg more than he ever thought. The egg itself has become a vessel for vast amounts of chaos energy that even Old Man Pann did not dare touch it.
