Chapter 2808: The Origin of Summoning Magic V

“What secrets of knowledge does the young master want to peek upon?” A librarian that seems to be an Imp stated.

“Master… Aernas?” Adrian muttered in shock which also made the small Imp be in shock as well.

“Sorry? What was that?” Aernas or rather a very young Aernas stated.

“Apologies. I was just shocked at how young of a librarian you are. Can you please tell me the section where the subjects of souls and contracts are?” Adrian stated as he saw that the identification card on Aernas chest says Assistant Librarian.

Adrian is shocked that Aernas is working for the most advanced library he has seen. He is also shocked that Aernas looked like he was only fifteen at this point in time which means he must be a lesser demon. From what Adrian know, Aernas is only a Greater Demon in rank but even the other elders were very polite to him. It seems something must have happened to Aernas that made him stuck at the Greater Demon persona rank.

“Yes. This is actually my first day on the job but do not worry as I can easily search for the books that you want. Please wait a second.” Aernas stated as he started to operate a flat crystal panel filled with runes.

“I found it but it seems that those books cannot be taken out of the library. You can only read there here. This will be the keycards for the vaults which are Vault 8 and Vault 10. The Grand Babel Library is a special space where a pocket dimension is inside another pocket dimension.

We keep all of the books that are for the same subjects in each pocket dimension. There will also be another attending there if you need any help in finding a specific book. Please enjoy your time in the Grand Babel Library.” Aernas stated as he passed the two keycards to Adrian.

Adrian then thanked Aernas for his aid and had Pyli fly him towards the doors of the vaults. The keycards act as a special key to create portals on the numbered doors of the large Grand Babel Library. As soon as Adrian held up the Vault 8 keycard, a powerful suction force took him and his guard to another pocket dimension.

The pocket dimension they were sent to is a room filled with a number of books. He could also see others in there reading the books that they picked. He also saw the attendant seated across the end of the hall. If he needed help then he should head towards that attendant and Adrian did. It will be quicker to ask the attendant than to have to find a book himself.

“Hello! Good day!” Adrian stated which made the attendant flinch a little as she did not expect such grand courtesy from one with Asmodian blood.

“Yes, young master. What can this humble attendant help you with?” The attendant stated as she bowed.

“I am looking for a book regarding souls and contracts. Is there a specific book that has both?” Adrian asked.

“Please wait a moment, young master. I will check on the archives if there are books with that specific topic.” The attendant stated as she also controlled a panel just like Aernas did earlier.

“We have a book called the Effects of Contracts and Covenants on the Individual. It is not a book that is focusing solely on the effects on the souls but the entire body. It seems that book has a section that also talks about souls. Would the young master like me to fetch that book for him?” the attendant asked.

“Yes, please. Thank you.” Adrian replied which made the attendant shocked again and look towards Pyli but the latter just smiled helplessly.

“I shall do my best to serve the young master. Please wait here while I get it.” The attendant stated as she quickened her pace using temporal magic to arrive at the location where that book was placed.

Adrian did not wait long as he was given a crystal panel and this is actually the book itself. He thought that there would be a physical copy on hardbound paper but it seems that he is mistaken. The reason that the books here cannot be taken out is due to the fact that it is stored in this magical crystal tablet. Adrian wanted to inspect the crystal panel but he feared that destroying it would bring him trouble and he was asked to behave.

“Thanks for the book once again.” Adrian stated.

“It is my pleasure to be of service to the young master. Just call upon me once again once you need more assistance.” The attendant stated with a smile as she returned to her original position.

“Are you not going to read, Pyli?” Adrian asked as his bodyguard might be interested in reading as well.

“I think more with my fists, young master. I shall stand guard here so please enjoy your leisure time.” Pyli replied.

“Okay then but you are free to check on books if you are interested.” Adrian stated as he placed his hand on the crystal panel.

Adrian thought that a projection would appear before him but the book was actually sent directly to his brain. He could imagine or see a book in his head with the title Effects of Contracts and Covenants on the Individual. This was a strange way of reading a book but it now made sense why there were no hardbound copies.

Adrian opened the book and it did have details on the effects of contracts on the body of beings. It has physical, emotional, and lastly spiritual. Adrian made sure to skim on the effects of physical and emotional but he became focused on the spiritual part. The book basically told him that the reason why souls become vulnerable during covenants or contracts is due to the nature of them.

“Covenants and contracts made with living beings are all done via resonating one’s soul with the world hence one cannot make a covenant continuously within a day. “Adrian literally thought as he is reading the book inside his mind.
