Chapter 2809: The Origin of Summoning Magic VI
Chapter 2809: The Origin of Summoning Magic VI
“The way to create covenants is to have the souls of two beings resonate with the world itself. The world is the judge and the anchor of the covenant. This makes sense since there should always be a middle man when it comes to creating contracts. The next problem is how to automatically create a covenant or contract between two souls.” Adrian thought as he returned to the attendant and told her that he would like to visit the next vault.
“If the young master wants to enter another vault, you can just use the identification card on the door. The portal will manifest to the next vault instead of the exit. Also, you can exit if you use the same card that you used to enter this vault.” The attendant stated.
“Thanks for the information.” Adrian stated as he did as the attendant stated and a portal appeared that led to Vault 10.
Adrian arrived at Vault 10 and it is different from the previous one as this place has more books. It seems that books regarding souls are not much but books regarding contracts are very much available. Just as he was about to look for the attendant, a young man that looked like an elf came before him.
“Greetings, young master. I have been informed by the attendant in Vault 8 to help you in anything that you need.” The elf attendant stated.
“Thank you for the assistance. I would like books related to Contracts from beginner to advanced. Also, if there are books related to soul contracts, I would like that as well.” Adrian stated.
“Please wait as I will now start checking the archives.” The elf attendant stated as he also has a crystal panel to search for book related topics.
“Thank you for waiting, young master. The books related to contracts from beginner to advanced are all available for source transfer. For books with soul contracts, that is from the forbidden archive and you would need the clearance from a God of Death that is at least a Greater God. Do you wish for me to give you a temporary panel where the books for the contracts are available?” The elf attendant stated.
“Does that mean I can read those books anywhere? Or am I just borrowing it?” Adrian asked.
“The temporary crystal panel is issued to guests that do not have one. They can be used for at least three days and will teleport back to the library once the time limit is up. If you wish to gain permanent copies of the books, you would need to get a crystal terminal yourself and purchase the books.” The elf attendant stated.
“I see. Thank you for explaining. Can I get the temporary one for now?” Adrian stated and the elf attendant nodded before leaving.
“Do you have one, Pyli?” Adrian asked his bodyguard.
“Unfortunately, I am not the scholarly type, young master. I did have one before but those panels are very easy to lose if you are like me.” Pyli stated with slight embarrassment as he basically admitted that he is a musclehead.
“Thank you for waiting once again, young master. This is the temporary panel that you will be using. I have already downloaded the books here for your browsing pleasure.” The elf attendant stated.
The temporary panel did not look like a large flat screen but it is a ring. When the elf attendant touched the ring, the panel appeared as the ring vanished. It seems that whatever crystal was used by this mechanism is incredibly flexible. Adrian really liked this and even took a note of this special material as he might be able to use it in Avalon if he finds it.
“Thank you for your assistance. I will be leaving you a perfect rating!” Adrian stated which made the elf attendant smile even though the library does not rate their attendants. The elf attendant then left as he has still tasks that he needs to do.
“Are you going to read now, young master?” Pyli asked.
“Nope. I want some fresh air now. Let us visit the market to check what they are selling.” Adrian stated as he used the Vault 10 keycard to create a portal back to the reception.
Adrian returned the keycards back to Aernas and left while also being courteous. Vio, who was asleep the whole time, finally woke up and became energetic as it smelled the food in the market. The market in Zion is vastly different from the simple market that is present in Telos’ hometown. The market has stalls but it also has actual stores that have pocket dimensions inside of their buildings.
All of the stores with buildings are actually larger inside because of the pocket dimension. The utilization of pocket dimensions and spatial magic in Zion makes it a formidable but clean looking metropolis. Everything is neat and in order as if the Asmodian overseeing this place is a neat freak and likes everything orderly.
Adrian is currently looking at the stalls with Vio when he suddenly shuddered. Vio, who was calm on his neck, suddenly unleashed his threatening clicking sound. When Adrian turned around to see who Vio was warning, he saw a being with a twisted soul that looked crooked. Before Adrian could speak, the entire market area suddenly exploded in miasma.
“Young master!” Pyli shouted as he immediately blinked to appear in front of Telos.
BOOM!
The market place that was busy and noisy because of the great atmosphere suddenly became a place filled with screams. The guards managed to see the commotion and even use Time Stop to avoid civilian casualties but the being that attacked operated under the same league as them. A humanoid being made of tar and numerous souls appeared before the marketplace and absorbed the souls of the beings that it had killed.
[The Apostle of Lu-Kthu has descended.]
The being suddenly morphed its humanoid shape and created a body that is a mixture of internal organs and pustules.
