Chapter 2770: Ragnarok VIII

Ordinarily, Adrian is not able to summon the Gate of the Underworld unless there are specific conditions. It is actually very strict in summoning this gate as it practically brings a god of death from their death realm to the mortal realm without any sacrifices needed. Fortunately for Adrian, the conditions are already sufficient.

The first condition is that a Taboo has been broken in the area which is done since dead beings were called upon from the underworld. The second condition is that the area must be able to handle the divine body of the god of death which is also true since the current Asgard is a divine realm. The third condition is that the souls of the dead had nowhere to go which is also true since Adrian could see all the dead souls just floating around without a place to go.

Even if Adrian could summon a god of death to this place, the summoned god of death cannot participate in the killing. They can only capture the souls of the dead and even correct the taboo if necessary. They cannot actively participate in the culling of mortal lives as that will break their duties.

“I call upon the Ruler of Helheim, the Goddess of Death Hel.” Adrian stated as he summoned a goddess of death to the mortal realm.

The mortals and even the lesser gods cannot perceive the Gate of the Underworld which is why they cannot even feel the power that emanated from it. Once the Gate of the Underworld opened, a goddess emerged from it with half her face being a corpse while the other half is a divine beauty. Just as Adrian called upon, the one that answered the call is none other than the Goddess of Death Hel.

“I have arrived as per the call of the mediator. May your wise guidance be the one that follows death.” The Goddess of Death Hel stated as she actually excessively praised Adrian.

The gods of death that were watching what is unfolding in the area were all shouting the exact same thing. They were all calling the Goddess of Death Hel as a bootlicker but they would actually do the same if they were summoned. They feared Adrian not just because he is the mediator but the Goddess of Night Nox actually calls him his cherished nephew.

The Goddess of Night Nox is the beloved wife of their master and she would definitely tell on them if they bullied the mediator. Even if they wanted to bully the mediator, he has perfect control of his abilities and knows his boundaries that the gods of death cannot vote to kick him out. They cannot find the justification because Adrian was too good at his duties. They actually prayed to a goddess of disappointment to ’bless’ him for a day to make them feel good but they were ignored.

“You know why I summoned you here. Do your duties and make sure that your past misjudgments are cleared.” Adrian stated as he knew that the Goddess of Death Hel is under scrutiny from the other gods of death right now as the souls should have been held in her realm but they escaped.

“Thank you for giving me the chance. I shall start with this one that neglected its duties.” The Goddess of Death Hel stated as she clenched her fist and the Bloodstained Hellhound Garmr exploded into pieces of flesh and blood.

To those that cannot see the Goddess of Death Hel, the death of the Bloodstained Hellhound Garmr looked like it was Adrian’s doing. The players did not expect that Adrian has become so powerful that he could destroy a powerful monster that defeated a god without even touching it. To the greater gods and above that saw this, they were all quaking in fear of the identity of the goddess that was called upon.

“A bit excessive but you have proven that you mean business. I hope that you will not interfere with what will happen here today.” Adrian stated as if the Goddess of Death Hel already knew what will happen.

“I am a subordinate goddess of the God of Death Abaddon. I am no longer part of any faction other then the Gods of Death. Any affection I carry for my father and siblings have been stripped away because they have used me time and time again. This time… I have learned my lesson and banned them from ever entering my realm.” The Goddess of Death Hel stated without any hint of tricks or lies.

“As they told me, you really are the best candidate for taking over that realm. Carry on with your duties in collecting the souls of those that died here. It is under your realm when they die so do not miss one soul.” Adrian stated with a smile before he vanished.

“Who are they?” The Goddess of Death Hel thought to herself as there was a power behind that word when the mediator told her. It was like there were higher powers at work at this very moment but the she decided to not think and just do her job. She is now being scrutinized by the other gods and goddesses of death because her realm had the most losses of souls as her father ransacked it.

The Goddess of Death Hel still had a small amount of affection for her father before all of this happened. She gave her a token that lets him visit her and this can only be used once every hundred years. She was very happy when her father visited her that she blinded herself to the truth that she was used.

Not only did her father use her death realm as a passage to the Death Realm Hades, he even took the souls of Hati and Skoll that are under her supervision. He even took the guardian of her underworld gate which is the Bloodstained Hellhound Garmr. He implicated her in his crime that she was supposed to be punished for days in the Fields of Torment but the other gods of death defended her.
