Chapter 2656: Against the Eastern Continent IV

Adrian’s soulbounds plowed through the numerous divine and demonic beasts. Not all have been killed but a great number of them have been injured. The soulbounds did not leave the side of their master for long as they circled around him while he was sitting on his throne.

“Retreat!” The Kirin shouted as it needed to constantly reapply divine energy on its body to make sure that the effects of Asmodian Prowess does not bound it to the location.

With the command of the one the most powerful divine beast given, the beasts that cared for their lives scattered. They are greedy for the chance to become a powerful pillar of the eastern continent and draw from the power of faith but they are got stupid enough to throw their lives away. Unlike human, the divine and demonic beasts could always live longer by devouring others like them and they also generally live five times longer than human immortals.

“Traitors! What about the pact!” One of the human Ascendant Immortals shouted.

“The pact is only about non-aggression. There is nothing there that we should die with you.” The Kirin shouted as it stomped its hooves and vanished from the area with a thunderclap.

“Cowards!” The Ascendant Immortals shouted but two powerful presences exploded in the area.

“They were just tactical.” Grand Master Fu Xi stated as his body reverted to a humanoid Ryujin form.

“We can finally clear up the garbage, my love.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated as she also appeared in her humanoid Ryujin form.

“Everyone! Join forces and kill them!” One of the Ascendant Immortals stated but his cries were not heard.

The appearance of a being that could suppress Ascendant Immortals was a drastic shift in the battlefield. The Murim Alliance that only defended earlier became slaughterers of the enemies. The Ryujin that was tired have used up their strength and stamina to also kill the ones that dared to attack the Dragon Lake Palace. The divine and demonic beasts retreating meant more breathing space for the people of Dragon Lake Palace.

The shift in the battle also made the Ascendant Immortals with life saving artifacts trigger it. One by one, the enemies would either run away or get killed. It all shifted when the demon entered the battle and summoned his throne. People of the eastern continent will then remember him by the title of Demon King.

“We won!”

The cheers of the people of the Dragon Lake Palace and the reinforcements sent by the Murim Alliance echoed in the area. They were all worn down and heavily wounded but the smile on their faces could be seen clearly. Some lives were lost but the victory made it clear that they could rise against the Corrupted Yellow Emperor.

Adrian also smiled seeing them celebrate but he could barely stand right now. It seems that all of his stamina was drained by using his skill to the point that the throne vanished but he was still being cradled by Charon in a sitting position. He just made a cool looking face to hide the fact that he could not move his body at the moment.

“I think I overdid it a little.” Adrian thought to himself as he commanded his soulbounds to send him to the healing oasis.

“I think I am drained.” Levin Cloud stated as his body looked like a dried tree.

“You pushed yourself in healing lots of people as well. You even used up all your divine energy at the moment.” Adrian stated.

“Shut up… you also benefitted from it. I am too tired to even argue.” Levin Cloud stated as his body went limp.

“Thanks. You really did manage to save more lives.” Adrian stated which Levin Cloud only responded with an okay hand gesture.

“I will nurse him back to health. His stamina has reached rock bottom as well. I think there are hidden medicinal elixirs in the vault.” Peridot stated as she carried Levin Cloud like a princess towards the inner halls of the palace.

“Is that where he got his rare medicinal plants? No wonder he always pushes himself when he is in the eastern continent. He gets to taste medicinal plants that should not be available in the central continent. He has become craftier ever since he became an alchemist.” Adrian muttered as he changed his attention to another subject.

Adrian then made sure to check on the Four Cardinal Divine Beasts after he recovered a bit. He could see that the four divine beasts have grown bigger to an extent but not enough to say they are powerful. They only grew to about seven inches in height which is good since they revived in a small form of about three inches.

“This is taking way too long.” Adrian stated.

“It has only been a few hours, mediator. This is actually quite fast as the records stated that it usually takes a day for them to grow.” The Seer of the Vermillion Bird stated as she oversees the entire ceremony.

“At what stage can they reactivate the Seal of Four Directions?” Adrian asked.

“If they grow at this rate then it would take about five days.” The Seer of the Vermillion Bird stated.

“We do not have five days. The ones that attacked the Dragon Lake Palace will surely try again. Even if they did flee for the meantime, there is no assurance that they will not be back. They have too much to gain if they kill one of the Four Cardinal Divine Beasts.” Adrian added.

“All of our shrine maidens have been pushing through the ceremony to hasten the growth of our masters but we can feel a power restricting us. An invisible force is bearing down upon us when we try to connect our masters to the collective faith of the eastern people. This is surely the work of the Corrupted Yellow Emperor as it must have replaced our masters as the pillar of the eastern continent.” The Seer of the Vermillion Bird stated.

“I guess there is no other choice then.” Adrian muttered as he looked at the group chat that he created.

The Corrupted Yellow Emperor could be seen in his humanoid form sitting on a large golden throne located at the center of his palace. The entire palace is still being fixed due to his large tantrum that destroyed its walls. The cracks are slowly being filled by his own power while the destroyed area is now being fixed by the sand soldiers it has created.

The reason why the Corrupted Yellow Emperor is restoring the Golden Palace is simple. The Golden Palace will serve as its domain nexus. A place where all of his power will be consolidated and the place where all the faith of the eastern people will be gathered once it has conquered everything. A god would still need a proper holy ground and the Corrupted Yellow Emperor is no exception.

Most of its power is being used to fix the Golden Palace for it to be declared as its territory. The Corrupted Yellow Emperor know that time is on its side as the threat to its life has yet to be born. This confidence is due to the fact that the Four Cardinal Divine Beasts have lost their hold onto the collective faith of the eastern continent people.

“As long as I prevent them from accessing most of it, I shall win in the end even if they revived.” The Corrupted Yellow Emperor muttered as it has already created layers upon layers of plans just in case other variables popped out.

The Corrupted Yellow Emperor also felt it when the Four Cardinal Divine Beasts have revived. Its hold onto the collective faith of the people has slowly started to slip. Still, the Corrupted Yellow Emperor is now more powerful than the Four Cardinal Divine Beasts combined as of now. The best thing that the Corrupted Yellow Emperor could do is delay the recovery of the four as long as possible.

“The only problem is that demon.” The Corrupted Yellow Emperor thought.

The Corrupted Yellow Emperor could clearly visualize the smug look on that demon when it was shut out from the skies of the Dragon Lake Palace. The Corrupted Yellow Emperor is confident that it could defeat the demon because it has yet to even reach the state of a demigod. Only a divine being could heavily damage the Corrupted Yellow Emperor.

Just as the Corrupted Yellow Emperor was thinking of a way to crush the demon, a disturbance is felt from the east and west. The remaining two of the generals have been defeated as well which fueled its rage against the demon even more. The Corrupted Yellow Emperor had to use its ability once again to personally claim the souls of the defeated Izanami and Chiyou.

“I need to create them vessels that are strong enough to withstand a tide of enemies. How will I look if my generals are pathetic.” The Corrupted Yellow Emperor stated as it started to pick out scales from its body.
