Chapter 2594: The Emei Sect III
Chapter 2594: The Emei Sect III
“We shall now excuse ourselves so that the lady and her attendants may rest. We have stationed some guards at the entrance that may cater to your wishes if you need something.” The Emei Sect attendant stated as she excused herself.
“She knows something.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated as she deployed a gentle wind barrier around the room.
“Is it related to your ability to discern truths and lies?” Adrian asked.
“Yes. I merely asked a few questions, and her answers were a mix of truths, partial truths, and lies. The problem with the outer barrier is true but the elders being away is actually false. The invitation is a partial truth as they might be troubled that I am here and is planning to create a façade to say that nothing is really wrong with the sect except for superficial problems.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated.
“They are keeping us well guarded, mistress. We will not be able to move without any monitors buzzing around.” One of the attendants stated as they were supposed to excuse themselves and go around the main sect area, but it seems that they cannot do so without any threat to their lives.
“I shall be the one exploring the area then. Please leave it to me.” Adrian stated which made the others raise their eyebrows.
“You are the most eye-catching amongst us without that veil. How will you achieve that? They will also check on us every hour which means you missing would be a problem.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa asked.
“It will be easy.” Adrian replied as he summoned Dodu.
Dodu then proceeded to change his form to what Adrian is right now. The copy was incredibly perfect down to the last detail except for the veil which Adrian gave to Dodu. Grand Mistress Nu Wa and her attendants were shocked that even the aura that they emitted were the same. A slime has never been seen in the eastern continent after all which is why they are amazed.
“I guess I should have a different look then.” Adrian thought as he changed his clothes to that of a member of the Emei Sect.
“You are suddenly interesting me more and more. Do a good job then. Make sure you call us should any trouble arise. You can have your adorable soulbound inform us since both of you are connected.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated.
“As you wish, mistress.” Adrian replied as he turned his body into a spirit and passed through the floor to leave.
“Are you sure about this, mistress?” One of the attendants asked.
“Even if I were to stop him, he would still push through with what he wanted to do. At the very least, he showed us his plan.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated as she rested her back on the soft chair while the others just sat where they were.
Adrian traversed the area while being invisible but made sure to avoid any areas where people could see him. There might be a being in this sect that could see through spirit forms which is why he needed to be careful. Sirius already identified two stalls that have secret passages, and he just needs to enter them with him. Fortunately, one of the secret passages were near the residence and he only needed to pass through a few blocks.
Sirius was waiting in one corner of the secret passage inside the shadows of a lamp. There were other beings that were scurrying about in the area, but they were mostly passing through. It seems that they were also talking about the sudden arrival of the Ryujin Overseer which made them a bit panicky. They did not expect a visitation from the renowned overseer of the eastern continent after all.
“I am here now.” Adrian told Sirius mentally
“The coast is clear in my area now, master. It seems they have gathered to a single location which is why only the guard is present on the other end.” Sirius replied.
Adrian managed to finally find the hidden passages after a few attempts of passing through the ground. He took quite some time as he can only use Sirius’ soul as a beacon. It has been a long time since Adrian used the spirit form transformation after all. He is no longer used to passing through actual ground. Ghosts do not have eyes that could penetrate physical things after all as even they would only see what is on the other side as soon as they passed through.
Adrian no longer used his spirit form as soon as he landed on the correct path. He commanded Sirius to check on the guards of the passage exit. The guards were Emei Sect members, but they were slightly tired looking. It seems that even cultivators can be overworked when something major is happening. Adrian then summoned Charon in order for the next plan to work.
Charon is commanded to sap some of the vitality from the guards, but he must do it in a slow and unnoticeable way. Adrian’s plan is to induce the guards to sleep as they would need to recover their lost vitality via sleeping. This trick is what Creepysoo told him when they were talking about the undead with abilities to siphon life energy. If done in a way that is slow and in small amounts, they could make the body of a living person mistake itself for it being tired.
Charon accepted the command and hid on the ground itself. He then proceeded to slip smaller chains on the ankles of the guards. Seeing as the guards had no reaction when the chains touched their ankles, Charon proceeded to slowly absorb some of their life energy. Adrian could see that he is being generated a shield with a value of two health per second.
“Huwah!” One of the guards exclaimed as she was now showing signs of being sleepy.
“Do not do that. I might… Huwah! Be infected.” The other guard stated as she also started to feel drowsy.
“Maybe a quick nap will fix us up. I shall go first and then you can take your turn once I am done.” The first guard stated.
“Fine but we must take naps at twenty-minute intervals.” The second guard stated but she also fell asleep after the first guard fell asleep five minutes later.
“Good job.” Adrian stated via their link and then he looked at one of the guards.
Adrian’s face and body started to morph into the appearance of the first guard. He also made sure that Charon absorbed enough vitality from them that they would be knocked out for at least an hour. He also commanded Charon to puppeteer the sleeping guards as if they were awake if another person enters.
“Understood, master.” Charon replied as he etched himself into the wall and vanished from view, but his invisible chains could be seen attached to the sleeping guards.
Adrian then proceeded to the underground halls of the Emei Sect. He did not encounter another sect member immediately as he passed through numerous halls for ten minutes before he encountered another guard. He proceeded to give the respectful bow to the guards he saw, and they also bowed in return. He was not actually questioned for him not being in his quarters since he did take the face of a guard.
“It seems that they think I am being called upon hence why the partner of this guard is not with her.” Adrian though when he suddenly felt a powerful energy flicker.
“That’s!” Adrian thought as his sudden halt caught the attention of others that passed by him.
He then proceeded to bow to them as if apologizing and then slowly made his way to the direction where he could feel the energy of an Asmodian. The energy of the Samadhi True Fire that he felt back then was already intense, but the scale of this one was phenomenal. He could hear the soul fragment of the Asmodian Abel screaming profanities and all sorts of curses.
“I thought it was just a random soul fragment, but it actually is from Abel. I guess the visions of those last two fragments flying south were indeed true. If that is the case, then the last fragment might be at the southern continent.” Adrian thought but he pushed the idea of the southern continent for now as he needed to focus on the fragment of Abel’s soul that he has found here in the eastern continent.
Adrian did not think much while walking as he was finding the source of the soul fragment. His body moved on its own as it homed in onto the energy signature of the soul fragment. He then found himself in a place where the all the passages lead deeper into the ground. Just as he was about to choose the passage where the energy of the soul fragment is stronger, a hand suddenly reached out to his shoulder which scared him.
