Chapter 2578: Vermillion Bird Against Three-Legged Crow III

“The Vermillion Bird of the South is not stupid as it might have created countermeasures. It must have utmost confidence in its strength as it believes it will defeat the Three-Legged Crow easily.” Tai stated.

“If that is the case then the Vermillion Bird of the South will be in for a surprise that will cost its life. We just need to wait for the Three-Legged Crow but first attacking the city is a priority. We must secure the shrine maidens with the blindfolds as they are being trained as Seers.” Chiyou stated as he called upon the attack.

As soon as Chiyou transmitted his mental commands, the skies of Vermillion City are suddenly filled with arrows. These are not normal arrows though as all of them are filled with internal energy. They are arrows from Immortals that trained with the bow and their lethality in long ranged combat is second to none.

Just as the arrows were about to drop towards the city, a large insect like being hiding in a black hole suddenly appeared on top of the city. This insect being suddenly created a large black hole that sucked in all of the arrows that were released by the enemy archers. Kenos appeared as Adrian summoned all of his soulbounds.

Kenos is the one that Adrian chose to protect the entire city as the arrows will be easily sucked inside the black hole that it creates. Kenos then looked at the direction where it felt the strongest aura among the hostile entities. Kenos locked into the aura of Chiyou and proceeded to open the other end of the black hole there.

“Turtle Shell Force Field!” Chiyou shouted as he slammed the ground and created a large ying and yang barrier that defended them at the sudden shower of arrows towards them.

“What is that?” Vixen asked as she is unfamiliar with Kenos and Adrian rarely makes him become visible.

“It might be a rare spatial beast that the Vermillion Bird of the South tamed.” Tama stated as he also did not know of Kenos.

“Regardless, with it at the center, we cannot use long ranged attacks to destroy the city.” Tai stated as he waited for his master’s next command.

“Charge inside and destroy everything.” Chiyou calmly commanded as the barrage of arrows finally stopped.

With Chiyou finally giving the command, the thousand of enemies hiding at the forest charged towards Vermillion City. They believed that the spatial beast will not be able to deal with them as they have records of such beasts since ancient times. They are beasts that can command space and appear from a rift. Many have even copied their magic in order to create the spatial rings that the people of the eastern continent use today.

All of the enemies charged towards the city with the intent of holding every living being hostage. If in case the Three-Legged Crow does not succeed in defeating the Vermillion Bird of the South, the next best plan is to hold the city hostage. With the people of the city as hostages, Kami believes that the Vermillion Bird of the South will surrender and lay its own life willingly.

As they enemy entered the city, they suddenly found themselves unable to detect any life forms inside of it. They believe that all of the people of the city have already entered their evacuation areas which meant that they are in the pagoda. All of the fallen god Immortals that came with the army stretched their senses towards the pagoda.

Upon slamming the pagoda with their insights, the fallen god Immortals sensed people. All of them smiled as they believed that this is where those that were unable to hastily escaped has barricaded themselves. The Shrine Maidens are also the elite force of Vermillion City after all. The advance team that already entered earlier were all killed off which is why they were unable to get any idea where the citizens are hiding.

“They are in the pagoda!” One of the fallen god Immortals shouted as all of them charged towards the large red tower called the Vermillion Pagoda.

Sensing the danger coming towards them, the Shrine Maidens encircled the pagoda and chanted their spells. All of them released talismans with the image of the Vermillion Bird of the South. They would then expend their own mana to activate the talismans that created a powerful barrier that protected the Vermillion Pagoda. The entire Vermillion Pagoda is suddenly covered by a barrier that even Chiyou could not break when he hit it.

“They are using the divine power of the Vermillion Bird of the South. I cannot break it unless the Vermillion Bird of the South dies.” Chiyou stated as he shifted his awareness to the spatial beast earlier, but it seems to have vanished or ran away.

Chiyou believed that the Vermillion Bird of the South exchanged the freedom of the spatial beast for its help in protecting the city. Since it has done its deal, the spatial beast vanished without a trace and left the city to fend for itself. This was the most likely outcome he believed as everyone knows that spatial beasts cannot be tamed. It can be reasoned with or threatened but it will never submit to another being.

Kami found themselves unable to continue as all of the living beings have escaped the city or are inside of the pagoda. They cannot enter the pagoda as the powerful barrier is maintained by the Shrine Maidens that are under the Vermillion Bird of the South. They could only wait for the battle between the Vermillion Bird of the South, and the Three-Legged Crow unfolds.

Just as they were waiting, all of them looked at the sky and saw a golden sun and a black sun suddenly in the sky. These was not normal, and they immediately knew that these two different suns were the Vermillion Bird of the South and the Three-Legged Crow. The two suns suddenly clashed against one another and created a powerful explosion that its shockwave even reached the ground.
