Nightmare Assault
Chapter 526: Assault
“It’s true.” Kui Yi realised the man wasn’t acting. He added, “I saw it with my own eyes. When we returned to the elevator, the paper was stuck to the back wall. Miss Lin swiped it.”
Jiang Cheng’s expression darkened, causing Kui Yi to shiver. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“I… didn’t dare.” Kui Yi pouted. “Miss Lin is with you. I thought she…” He didn’t finish. However, Jiang Cheng knew that Kui Yi assumed Miss Lin was also from Deep Red. Then again, with Lin Wan ‘Er’s performance in the nightmare, she didn’t appear to be a normal person. However, Jiang Cheng knew that she was only being herself. She was extremely clever. Jiang Cheng suspected that even if he weren’t there, Lin Wan ‘Er would have survived.
However, Jiang Cheng couldn’t figure out why Lin Wan ‘Er would take the red paper that came out of nowhere. He turned to Kui Yi questioningly. To be honest, Jiang Cheng didn’t think Kui Yi would lie to him, since the lie would be exposed with a phone call. What he needed to do was to figure out what Lin Wan ‘Er was up to. Did she discover something? Like the uniqueness of the red paper? Perhaps she took it to study it.
Jiang Cheng wouldn’t believe a normal person would do that, but Lin Wan ‘Er might. Of course, the strongest possibility was Lin Wan ‘Er had recognised the red piece of paper. Perhaps she had seen it before?
Lin Wan ‘Er had a very complex connection. Jiang Cheng didn’t know most of her friends. It was not impossible that some of them might have interacted with the nightmare realm before.
Most importantly, Jiang Cheng was most concerned about her safety. There was something unusual about the newspaper and the white paper. The red paper would not be any different.
“What is the use of the red paper?” Jiang Cheng instantly asked.
Kui Yi became nervous. “It has its uses, but I’m not familiar with it. I want to trade it for something.”
“Who are you going to trade it with?”Kui Yi swallowed and pointed at the computer. “The website admin.”
“What will you get in return?”
“It’s uncertain. It depends on them. They will assess the object's price and begin negotiations. Once the negotiation is settled, the trade will occur.”
“You can contact the admin now. Don’t ask them about how to use the thing; instead, try to start negotiating. Then, based on its value, try to figure out a way to draw out the purpose.” Jiang Cheng dropped the order and left. He took Kui Yi’s car key. He didn’t feel settled if he didn’t see Lin Wan ‘Er in one piece.
“Brother… Jiang.” Kui Yi stammered. “Why waste the time? Someone within the Deep Red must know about it. Why don’t you ask them?”
“I am not familiar with them,” Jiang Cheng answered.
“Not familiar?”
Jiang Cheng reached the door and turned around. “I’m the executioner in Deep Red. I’m there to execute the traitors. I rarely show up. Do you get it now?”
“Yes!” Kui Yi sat down to contact the admin. “Brother Deep Red, leave this to me. I’ll definitely arrange everything neatly. If you need to visit the seaside villa to meet the girls, you can call me. I’ll drive you there.”
As he drove back to the office, Jiang Cheng made multiple calls, but the other person’s phone was offline. Perhaps the phone died at the ghost hospital. Jiang Cheng’s phone only had less than 10% battery life left. Jiang Cheng parked the car and rushed out. He shoved the door open. Someone was home.
It had to be Lin Wan ‘Er. Only he and Lin Wan ‘Er had the key.
The place was very quiet. Jiang Cheng didn’t shout her name because it was unnecessary. Something must have happened. A light scent lingered in the air. A normal person might have missed it, but not Jiang Cheng. It was the smell of blood.
After looking around the first floor, Jiang Cheng headed to the stairs. At the corner, he spotted a bloody handprint. The fingers were long and pretty. Jiang Cheng’s pupils trembled.
A bad feeling rose in his heart. He had a wild guess. Could the thing inside Xiang Nan’s body follow them out? Was the red paper the vessel for that thing?
If that was the case, it was not good for Lin Wan ‘Er. After all, the office had fewer hiding places than the ghost hospital. He grabbed a knife from the kitchen. Then, he slowly slunk upstairs. When he reached the second floor, what he saw caused his brows to furrow.
The couch was knocked over. The vases were broken on the floor. There were uneven, bloody footprints moving into the bedroom. The bedroom door was left open. The footprints disappeared there.
A few bloody prints were on the doorknob. Someone left them in a panic. The scariest thing was that there was more than one set of footprints. To be precise, a barefoot person was chasing someone wearing shoes. One set had conspicuous toe prints, while the other contained blurry shoeprints.
Jiang Cheng remembered that the thing inside Xiang Nan was barefoot!
It had really appeared in the real world through that piece of red paper!
With trembling hands, he opened the bedroom door. The condition inside was worse. His dresser had been brutally torn apart. The mattress on the floor was shredded. The spring within was exposed. Jiang Cheng’s eyes reddened. He almost fell.
There was a woman lying in the corner. The woman’s face was covered in blood. Her matted hair covered her face. Her fair skin stood in stark contrast to the bright blood. Jiang Cheng felt his blood chill. Something in his heart disappeared.
However, his shadow on the wall slowly opened its eyes.
The next second, the shadow boiled. It slowly struggled as it ballooned out of the wall.
