Nightmare Assault
Chapter 527: Strangeness
Then, Jiang Cheng noticed Lin Wan ‘Er’s body twitch. It was small, but it was there. He rushed to check her pulse. She was alive! However, to his confusion, her pulse was abnormally strong. Her heartbeat was quicker than normal.
Jiang Cheng pulled his hand back and frowned. He didn’t see the ghost in the room. The ghost didn’t seem like it would escape. He looked at Lin Wan ‘Er with concern.
His phone trembled. He turned the sound off before entering the room. The caller was Kui Yi.
“Brother Jiang!” Kui Yi said urgently. “The admin has replied. They told me that a buyer is willing to trade the red paper for two pieces of white paper. Plus, they will provide us with an empty cheque. We can fill in the digits ourselves!” As a veteran player, he knew how precious the white paper was. Two pieces meant that he could leave the nightmare twice even if all the group members died. Not many people could do that.
“Brother Jiang!” Kui Yi’s voice sharpened. “They are giving us more. They are willing to surrender three pieces of white paper! If we are willing, we can have the trade tomorrow.”
Jiang Cheng’s face darkened. It was not the time to negotiate. This thing was way more valuable than he anticipated. The more valuable something was, the more dangerous it was.
“Don’t rush to promise anything.” Jiang Cheng’s voice was even and cool. “Reply after a few minutes. Try to figure out the red paper’s purpose. Tell me when you get something.”
Jiang Cheng hung up. Then, he carried Lin Wan ‘Er downstairs and placed her on the couch. Then, he locked the door. He ran into the bathroom to wet a towel. He wiped the blood from her face, arms and legs. Slowly, Jiang Cheng noticed something was wrong. With so much blood, Lin Wan ‘Er should suffer heavy injuries. However, other than a few scratches on her extremities, she didn’t have any serious wounds.
Jiang Cheng held the bloody towel and glanced at Lin Wan ‘Er. She wore a coat over a tight-fitting qipao. However, they had been shredded and mixed with her blood. Her face was pale.
He slowly reached out to examine her upper body. He was swift but cautious. Finally, he sighed. She didn’t have any serious external injuries. He wiped away the blood. As he washed the towel, his phone rang again.
Kui Yi said, “Brother Jiang, they refuse to tell me anything about the red paper.” Jiang Cheng expected that. However, based on the other party's response, they wouldn’t give up the trade easily. Therefore, there was a chance they could reveal more about the red papers.
As expected…
“Brother Jiang,” Kui Yi’s tone shifted. “They told me that it was pointless for us to keep the red paper. If anything, the red paper would threaten our safety. They wish for us to consider this seriously. I don’t think they’re lying to me.” Kui Yi panicked. “Plus, I think they are sincere. Three pieces of white paper and an empty cheque are more than enough. To be honest, the door inside me is showing signs of losing control. Without offering it more white paper, it will…”
Kui Yi pleaded. Jiang Cheng was from Deep Red. He had ways to deal with the door’s corruption. However, Kui Yi was a normal person. He accidentally received this door and its curse.
“I know.” Jiang Cheng hung up.
“Hello, Brother Jiang!” Kui Yi was anxious. “What do you mean? Should I agree or not?” However, he didn’t dare to do anything without an order from Jiang Cheng. After all, Jiang Cheng would kill him instantly.
Kui Yi was really tempted by the other party’s offer. Aside from the money, the three pieces of white paper could really save his life. Fury surged through him. “I can’t stand this anymore!” Kui Yi’s eyes reddened as he smacked the table. Then, he closed the computer and left home. He hailed a cab to head to the seaside villa. He needed to have a chat with the girls. With that in mind, Kui Yi flashed a mysterious smile. He gave the driver 100 and told him to drive faster.
Jiang Cheng didn’t care about what Kui Yi was thinking. His focus was on Lin Wan ‘Er. The words echoed in his mind. “They told me that it was pointless for us to keep the red paper. If anything, the red paper would threaten our safety.”
They were not lying.
Something escaped from inside the door and assaulted Lin Wan ‘Er. However, since Lin Wan ‘Er was not seriously injured, where did the blood come from?
Did it come from the ghost? Did it carry the blood from the hospital, or was it injured after it exited the nightmare realm?
Jiang Cheng couldn’t tell. He wanted to know where it was. He checked the room and couldn’t find the red paper. He suspected the ghost had entered Lin Wan ‘Er’s body. Or rather, Lin Wan ‘Er became the door’s next vessel.
He opened the faucet and allowed the water to run. Jiang Cheng stood before the mirror, thinking. He didn’t have much choice. The first was to find Xia Meng’s people. They were related to the Night Guardians. They would know about the red paper.
The second was more direct. He would invite the trade partner out and detain them. Since they wanted the red paper, they had to know its purpose.
Both plans had their risks. Plus, Lin Wan ‘Er was still unconscious. He didn’t want to take risks.
From the mirror’s reflection, he saw Lin Wan ‘Er’s eyes move. However, when he turned around, her eyes were closed. She lay on the couch quietly.
Jiang Cheng shook his head. He splashed cold water on his face. It made him more awake.
However, as he bent over, Jiang Cheng’s reflection in the mirror stayed standing. Through the mirror, his reflection looked at Lin Wan ‘Er strangely.
