Chapter 1375: Unexpected Accident (Part 1)
On the battlefield, thousands of demons and dragons clashed against each other, their battle shaking an area spanning thousands of kilometers as they unleashed powerful attacks one after another without pause.
War cries filled with killing intent and deep-seated hatred echoed across the battlefield, while demonic energy and dragon breath collided mid-air, annihilating everything in their path.
Demons and dragons fell one after another, and before their bodies could even be retrieved and buried honorably for their sacrifice in war, new soldiers rushed in to take their place.
They trampled over the fallen, crushing corpses into a bloody pulp, turning them into nourishment for the soil and dyeing the ground a deep crimson red.
Broken limbs, mangled flesh, and half-shattered bodies clad in armor were scattered everywhere.
Yet, amidst a war involving hundreds of thousands of demons and dragons, such horrifying scenes seemed almost insignificant.
While this gruesome war unfolded, some individuals were still busy conducting their own shady business.
“Eclipse, over there. See that chipped sword? Although it’s damaged, it’s still a mid-level Rank Three weapon. We can easily repair it. Go get it,” Ashley said seriously as she pointed toward a light blue-colored sword, now stained with blood, lying beside a demon’s corpse.
Eclipse immediately concealed his figure and dashed forward with his leopard-like legs. His eyes, however, were filled with confusion, as he still couldn’t understand how he had ended up collecting scraps on a battlefield.
In fact, he wasn’t the only shadow undead doing this. There were hundreds of them scattered across the battlefield, collecting weapons, storage rings, and other equipment from the fallen soldiers.
Ashley watched the shadow undead gather all the spoils of war with a relaxed expression on her face. She felt extremely grateful to Evan for lending her a few of his shadow undead to do the work she was originally supposed to handle.
’Now every time that old man tells me to collect scraps on a battlefield, I will just ask Evan to lend me a few shadow undead,’ She thought with an excited look, feeling extremely pleased that she wouldn’t have to work like a beggar in the future.
Just then, the space beside her trembled slightly, and Sylvan’s figure appeared.
“Done?” Ashley asked as soon as she saw him.
Natasha, who was standing beside Ashley, also looked at him with curiosity.
Sylvan nodded as he glanced down at the ongoing war below them.
“I have injured all the Rank Five and Rank Four Core Evolvers on the demons’ side. All of them will soon die at the hands of the dragons fighting against them.”
Ashley nodded without showing any surprise, as it would have been strange if Sylvan had failed his task. After all, he was currently the strongest being present on the battlefield.
Evan had told them beforehand that he needed the bodies of Rank Four and Rank Five Core Evolvers. He hadn’t specified why, but they assumed it was because he intended to turn them into shadow undead.
Thus, Sylvan had secretly gone and injured all the high-ranking demons, making it easier for the dragons to finish them off.
Once they died, they would collect their bodies, storage rings, and other equipment. The storage rings and equipment would belong to Sylvan, while the corpses would be handed over to Evan.
As for why he didn’t attack the dragons, it was mainly because Evan had stated that he wanted to damage the foundation of the demons, not the dragons.
If he had intended to weaken both sides, Sylvan could have easily killed all the high-ranking demons and dragons himself instead of letting them fight each other.
“It’s been quite a few minutes already. Why hasn’t he come back yet?” Ashley muttered when she noticed Evan still hadn’t returned.
Sylvan’s mouth twitched slightly when he heard her and he looked at her speechlessly.
“He’s fighting against two peak Rank Five Core Evolvers. Do you think killing Rank Five Core Evolvers is like killing some roadside dogs?” He said, rolling his eyes.
“Even for him, it would take hours or even days to kill those peak Rank Five Evolvers.”
Ashley was taken aback when she heard Sylvan’s words and realized that he was right.
Because she had spent so much time with Evan and Anastasia and had seen how those two monsters casually killed their opponents within minutes, she had completely forgotten that eliminating a Rank Five Core Evolver was actually an extremely difficult task.
Take herself as an example. She was also a Rank Five Core Evolver, and even if her head were chopped off and her body destroyed, she could still recover using her law energy.
Natasha, on the other hand, felt her worldview shatter when she heard that Evan was fighting against two peak Rank Five Core Evolvers.
Back in the Aurora World, her rank had been higher than Evan’s. But in such a short period of time, he had grown far stronger than her.
She was still struggling against Rank Two Core Evolvers, while he was already dealing with Rank Five Core Evolvers as if it were nothing.
’It seems we will be spending quite some time on this battlefield…’ Ashley thought inwardly, once again feeling grateful that she had Evan’s shadow undead with her.
Otherwise, she would have to personally do the work of a scavenger for the next few days.
Collecting scraps while being a Rank Five Core Evolver was truly embarrassing.
Just as she was thinking this, the space around them rippled, and Evan appeared beside them along with Turoon.
Sylvan and the others were stunned when they saw Evan and looked at him with disbelief clearly written on their faces.
Turoon also saw Sylvan and the others for the first time. The moment he sensed their presence, his scalp tingled, as he could tell that both Ashley and Sylvan were stronger than him.
Although he was curious about their identities, he didn’t have the time to dwell on it, as his attention was quickly drawn back to the ongoing war below.
Seeing so many dragons dying, his expression turned grim and he immediately bowed toward Evan.
“My lord, I will take my leave. I will definitely deliver your message to the other dragons.”
Evan knew that Turoon wanted to go and assist the dragons fighting below, so he simply nodded calmly.
Seeing that Evan had no intention of stopping him, Turoon let out a sigh of relief and immediately departed.
Once he was gone, Evan finally turned his attention to Sylvan and the others, a faint smile appearing on his face.
“It seems everything went well on your end.”
Evan felt relieved to see that nothing unexpected had happened while he was fighting against Molar.
However, he couldn’t remain at ease for long, because something unexpected, something he had not anticipated at all had finally occurred.
