Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Chapter 911: Emergency Mission, Curse Upon An Inhabited Planet

  • Next Chapter

Third Zhu reported everything concerning Lin Moyu to the City Master.

Not long afterward, the City Master sent back his reply.

His decision was simple: wait and observe. Lin Moyu's future performance would determine everything.

Only then did Third Zhu understand the City Master's caution. Countless geniuses had shone brilliantly in their early years, only to fade into mediocrity later.

Accepting a disciple was a momentous decision for the City Master. It was not something to be rushed.

However, the City Master also informed the Temple Master of the War God Temple. For the time being, the War God Temple was not to make contact with Lin Moyu.

Like everyone else, they would allow him to develop on his own.

After receiving the response, Third Zhu pondered for a moment before muttering, "Let him grow freely for now. But we can't simply ignore him; we still need to keep an eye on his progress."

"It might be a good idea to assign him a few missions so he can raise his level of authority more quickly."

"Under no circumstances is anyone from the War God Temple to approach him."

After issuing several orders, Third Zhu dispatched someone to the Vermilion Bird Planet 98-1, where Lin Moyu was currently located.

For the next ten days, Lin Moyu remained inside the Forging Center without stepping outside even once.

Ten days later, the door of the forging room finally opened, and Lin Moyu emerged.

His complexion was rosy, his aura steady, and his spirit as vigorous as ever. There wasn't the slightest hint of the weakness that usually followed soul forging.

Ordinarily, using soul forging consumed enormous amounts of soul force. The resulting exhaustion often left a person weak for days, requiring considerable time to recover.

Lin Moyu, however, felt no fatigue whatsoever. Both his soul and mind remained in peak condition.

He was in an exceptionally good mood.

His first true attempt at equipment forging had been a complete success.

The soul armor had been successfully forged and now rested upon his soul.

Forged from Starfire Essence Metal, it shimmered with a brilliant crimson glow.

Wrapped in its warmth, Lin Moyu's soul felt incomparably comfortable.

Like Starfire Metal, Starfire Essence Metal possessed the ability to enhance soul grade.

Unfortunately—or perhaps fortunately—Lin Moyu's soul grade was already so extraordinary that the material's enhancement produced no effect.

Even so, the soul armor greatly strengthened his soul's defenses.

With it protecting him, even a God King might not be able to kill him through a direct soul attack.

"Time to visit the Pill Center."

With that thought, Lin Moyu activated the teleportation formation and arrived at the Pill Center.

The place was permeated by the rich fragrance of countless medicinal herbs.

The refreshing aroma invigorated both body and mind.

Unfortunately, Lin Moyu knew virtually nothing about pill refinement. After taking a brief tour, he quietly left.

The pills available with level 2 authority were few in variety and relatively ordinary.

Most were basic healing pills, which held little value for someone like Lin Moyu.

After leaving the Pill Center, he returned once more to the Mission Center.

He already had a clear plan.

Over the coming days, he would continuously complete missions to increase both his level of authority and cultivation realm.

His immediate goal was to obtain level 3 authority as quickly as possible.

Once his authority reached level 3, his teleportation range would increase dramatically to over 200 light-years, dozens of times farther than his current limit.

That would also unlock a much larger selection of missions, along with significantly higher point rewards.

Back inside the Mission Center, Lin Moyu began browsing the available missions.

There were only so many missions accessible with level 2 authority, and those offering generous rewards were particularly rare.

After looking through them, he selected several material-gathering missions.

Their objectives and rewards were similar to the mission for collecting Starfire Metal.

One mission, however, stood out.

It involved locating a unique lifeform known as the Shatterstone Worm.

Shatterstone Worms inhabited shattered planets, spending virtually their entire lives inside the broken planets where they were born.

The moment they left those fragments, they died.

As a result, the mission required only that participants locate the Shatterstone Worms, record their coordinates, and upload the information to the Human Emperor Network.

Someone else would later be dispatched to retrieve them.

To Lin Moyu's surprise, such a simple mission rewarded 100 points.

Just as he was about to accept it, a brand-new mission suddenly appeared on the mission board.

It instantly jumped to the very top of the list.

[Emergency mission: investigate the anomaly on the Vermilion Bird Inhabited Planet No. 105-3.]

The mission details would only become available after accepting it.

Furthermore, participation was limited to the first 1,000 applicants.

Without a moment's hesitation, Lin Moyu accepted the mission.

By now, he understood that missions were divided into several categories.

The most common were regular missions—the two he had completed previously both belonged to this category.

Beyond those were special missions and emergency missions.

Among all mission types, emergency missions generally offered the greatest rewards.

They were typically triggered by unforeseen events and issued directly by the Human Emperor Network.

After accepting the mission, Lin Moyu reviewed the details.

On Vermilion Bird Inhabited Planet No. 105-3, a large number of residents had died from unknown causes, while many others had contracted a mysterious illness.

Cultivators were needed to travel to the planet and investigate.

The reward system for this mission differed from that of ordinary missions.

A total of 1,000 cultivators would be dispatched, but each would conduct an independent investigation.

Rewards would be determined by each participant's progress and contribution.

Once the mission concluded, the Human Emperor Network would calculate everyone's final rewards accordingly.

The mission description listed only a reward range: from 0 points to as many as 1,000.

After accepting the mission, Lin Moyu hurried to the nearest teleportation formation.

Quite a few others were heading in the same direction—at least fifty cultivators who had also managed to secure a spot.

This emergency mission had been issued simultaneously across several nearby star systems and was open to all cultivators with level 2 authority.

However, with participation capped at just 1,000 people, only those who reacted quickly managed to claim a slot.

The teleportation formation operated with remarkable efficiency, sending them one after another to Star System No. 105.

The journey from Star System No. 98 to Star System No. 105 covered nearly fifteen light-years and cost 2 points.

For distances between ten and twenty light-years, each teleportation cost 2 points.

Naturally, the fee increased with distance.

Teleporting to an inhabited star system had one major advantage: you could arrive directly on the destination planet.

By contrast, when traveling to an uninhabited star system, teleportation could only take you to the system's outer perimeter, leaving you to rely on your own flying ship to reach the interior.

Lin Moyu arrived directly on Vermilion Bird Inhabited Planet No. 105-3.

The instant he stepped out of the teleportation formation, his brows knitted together, "Such dense death qi..."

"And this... is the power of a curse." His heart stirred with alarm.

The entire planet was shrouded in an overwhelming curse.

"Don't block the teleportation formation! Move aside!"

The shout snapped him from his thoughts, and he immediately stepped away.

The formation continued to blaze with light as cultivators arrived one after another.

As more Transcendent God realm powerhouses appeared, conversations spread through the air.

"Why can't I sense any aura of life on this inhabited planet?"

"The curse here is unbelievably strong. Something like this should never exist on an inhabited world."

"Someone has placed a devastating curse on the entire planet!"

"It's other race powerhouses!"
