Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Chapter 912: Temporary Remedy

  • Next Chapter

Everyone quickly identified the source of the problem: other race powerhouses had cast a curse upon the planet.

Within the vast Vermilion Bird Starfield, Star System No. 105 was considered a low-level star system.

Inhabited Planet No. 105-3, in particular, was inhabited almost entirely by ordinary people, with only a handful of Transcendent Gods.

Under such circumstances, if other race powerhouses infiltrated the planet with sufficient caution, avoiding detection was entirely possible.

Although the Human Emperor Network was incredibly powerful, it was far from omnipotent.

Blind spots in its surveillance inevitably existed, and incidents like this were not unheard of.

"It must have been other race powerhouses who sneaked in and cast the curse, but who knows how many there are."

"No matter how many there are, we can't let a single one escape!"

"Those other race bastards actually dared to wreak havoc in human territory!"

The gathered Transcendent Gods clenched their fists, their hatred for the other races unmistakable.

They also understood that any other race powerhouses capable of infiltrating human territory unnoticed could not be excessively powerful.

If they were, the Human Emperor Network would have detected them.

Moreover, the very fact that the Human Emperor Network had issued this mission meant it had already tracked the enemy's movements and assessed their strength.

As soon as everyone arrived, the mission details were updated:

[Task 1: locate and eliminate the invading other race powerhouses.]

[Task 2: purge the curse and restore the inhabited planet.]

[Task 3: rescue and treat the human survivors.]

[Rewards will be distributed according to each participant's contribution once the mission is completed.]

With the mission assigned, the thousand Transcendent Gods immediately dispersed.

In the blink of an eye, they shot off in every direction at incredible speed, leaving the area around the teleportation formation completely deserted.

Lin Moyu looked toward the sky, his brows knitting together.

He suddenly shot upward, piercing through the dense cloud layer and emerging above it.

Brilliant sunlight bathed the heavens.

Star System No. 105 was an ordinary inhabited star system.

Like Star System No. 98, it revolved around a blazing star that radiated abundant sunlight and heat.

Yet now, that sunlight was completely blocked by a massive layer of clouds.

Standing above the cloud layer, Lin Moyu felt the warmth of the star on his body while sensing the bone-chilling cold emanating from the darkness below.

His expression turned grim, "Those aren't clouds... they're curse clouds."

The entire planet was shrouded beneath an enormous blanket of curse clouds.

Cut off from the star's sunlight, the world had descended into perpetual darkness, and temperatures were dropping rapidly.

Combined with the curse itself, the result was catastrophic, claiming countless lives.

As someone who wielded curse law arts, including a powerful poison curse, Lin Moyu possessed a deep understanding of curses.

With a single glance, he recognized the problem.

Unless the curse clouds were removed, restoring the planet would be nearly impossible.

Tracking down the other race powerhouses would not be easy either.

Since they had managed to infiltrate human territory undetected, they were unlikely to expose themselves carelessly.

The Human Emperor Network had not provided their exact location, and there was even a chance they had already fled the planet.

Nor could the curse clouds be dispersed in a short time.

After a brief moment of consideration, Lin Moyu decided to prioritize saving lives.

The other race powerhouses could be hunted later.

For now, rescuing the surviving humans and minimizing casualties was the most urgent task.

He dove back through the cloud layer, identified the region with the strongest concentration of aura of life, and sped toward it.

When he arrived above a city, his expression darkened instantly.

Corpses were piled into mountains, the sheer number of dead almost beyond comprehension.

Nearby, the surviving victims afflicted by the curse had been gathered together for treatment.

Every one of them appeared weak and dispirited, their conditions deteriorating by the minute.

People proficient in healing techniques, regardless of realm, worked tirelessly to save them.

At the same time, healing formations operated continuously.

Yet the results were minimal.

Even the newly arrived Transcendent Gods found themselves helpless.

Most excelled in combat and had instinctively prioritized hunting down the other race invaders to eliminate the source of the disaster.

Healing the wounded and saving lives simply wasn't their specialty.

As soon as Lin Moyu arrived, he waved a hand, unleashing a fierce gale across the city.

The law of undeath surged forth in intertwined currents of grey and white, tinting the wind itself.

The white wind swept across the survivors, filling them with vigorous life force.

Their spirits lifted immediately, strength returned to their bodies, and healthy color gradually reappeared on their faces.

The grey wind, carrying the aura of death, swept into the dense curse clouds.

The death aspect of the law of undeath could erode even curses.

The curse clouds weakened visibly, allowing shafts of sunlight to pierce the darkness and bring a glimmer of hope.

"Thank you!"

"Thank you for saving us, my lord!"

One after another, those who had received treatment voiced their heartfelt gratitude.

The other Transcendent Gods stared at Lin Moyu in astonishment.

None of them had expected him to suppress the curse, and their curiosity toward him grew.

The 3rd tier Transcendent God realm was hardly an impressive cultivation realm among them, yet the law he wielded was unlike anything they had ever witnessed.

Lin Moyu let out a quiet sigh.

What he had done was only a temporary remedy.

He had eased the symptoms, but the curse itself remained.

At best, he had bought the victims more time.

Despite the chorus of grateful voices, there wasn't a trace of satisfaction on his face.

Wearing a solemn expression, he turned and flew toward another region.

Lin Moyu traveled at astonishing speed. In less than half a day, he circled the entire planet, treating every survivor he could find.

Although he couldn't completely remove the curse, he managed to stabilize everyone's condition.

Thanks to his efforts, even the curse clouds had noticeably thinned.

"Now it's time to find the source... and exterminate those vermin."

Every word dripped with killing intent.

For a fleeting moment, Lin Moyu felt as though he had returned to the small world, to the years of ceaseless battles and endless slaughter.

Nothing stirred his hatred more than other races.

In the small world, they had brought invasion.

In the greater world, they were no different.

During that half a day, the thousand Transcendent Gods searched every inch of the inhabited planet, inside and out, yet failed to uncover even the slightest trace of the invaders.

Several of them had even fallen victim to the curse, their strength steadily sapped away.

The curse accumulated over time.

Left unchecked, even Transcendent Gods would eventually succumb to it.

Unable to locate their elusive enemy, the Transcendent Gods could do nothing but curse in frustration.

"This is infuriating! I'd rather have a straightforward fight!"

"Exactly! I'd rather face a True God than deal with this."

"Oh, please. A True God could squash you with a finger."

"Just who the hell are these bastards? This curse is revolting."

"Hm? What's he doing?"

Under everyone's watchful eyes, Lin Moyu flew straight into the curse clouds, disappearing into the dense cloud layer.

"He can't seriously think the other race powerhouses are hiding in there, can he?"

"We've searched those clouds countless times. There's nothing inside."

"The curse is even stronger in there. He's only going to make things worse for himself."

Over the past half a day, Lin Moyu had earned a measure of fame.

While everyone else had been helpless against the curse, he alone had managed to suppress its effects.

But suppressing the curse was not the same as eliminating its source.

No one believed that venturing into the curse clouds would change anything.

After all, they had searched them repeatedly, and the invaders had never been found.
