Chapter 650: We Were Wrong, We Shouldn't Have Believed Those Lies

People around the world were almost unanimous in their vicious condemnation of Chu He.

…

Night fell, and the city lights began to glow.

An office worker in a crisp suit and black-rimmed glasses stood by the entrance of a street-side convenience store. With his brow furrowed, he stared intently at the news about Chu He on his phone, an expression of utter disgust on his face.

He muttered under his breath, “He always looked so righteous, but to think he’s actually this cruel and ruthless… It’s monstrous. He’s a destroyer of world peace and must be hit with severe sanctions!”

With that, he furiously slammed his coffee cup onto a nearby table, splashing coffee all over the floor.

…

In the romantic Rooster Country, the afternoon sun spilled lazily into a street-side cafe.

A young woman in a stylish dress sat by the window.

Holding a tablet, she scrolled through the news, waving her arm excitedly. In her fluent native tongue, she said to her companion, “This is just too much! How could Chu He do something so inhumane? We all looked up to him as a hero, but it turns out he’s a true demon. He must be brought before an international tribunal to be judged by all of humankind and pay for his crimes!”

Her cheeks were flushed with agitation, her expression highly animated.

…

In the frigid lands of the Battle Race, a biting wind swept through the streets.

A burly man in a heavy leather jacket stood before a large screen in the square, a cigarette dangling from his lips. He stared up at the image of Chu He, his face as dark as a storm cloud.

Suddenly, he exhaled a sharp ring of smoke and bellowed, “That Chu He is a complete bastard! What does he take human life for? After the depraved shit he’s pulled, he ought to be torn to shreds! We can’t let a monster like that run rampant in the world!”

His voice was coarse and loud, and the people around him shot him looks of approval.

Someone even chimed in, “Yeah, we can’t let him get away with it!”

…

「Buddha Country.」

The bustling market was packed with people. A woman in a colorful headscarf stood in the middle of the crowd, her palms pressed together, her expression a mixture of piety and fury.

In a loud voice, she declared in the local language, “What Chu He has done is an affront to the Divine Spirits! He has committed an unforgivable sin, and the gods will surely deliver their punishment. We mustn’t be deceived by his facade! We must unite and stand against him!”

The moment she finished speaking, a murmur rippled through the crowd.

Some nodded in agreement while others’ faces twisted in anger.

Chu He’s crimes had violated their most sacred beliefs.

On what seemed to be an ordinary day, the peaceful world was suddenly shrouded in an eerie and terrifying aura.

The Bright Holy See had launched its utterly evil final sacrificial ritual ahead of schedule.

In an instant, seventy-two massive, heaven-piercing pillars of blinding white light erupted from the earth without warning.

They soared into the clouds as if to rip the very heavens asunder.

The light from these pillars was so intense it illuminated the entire world, yet it sent a profound chill through all who witnessed it.

In the center of the vast, boundless ocean, the once-calm surface of the sea was now being churned as if by a giant hand from Hell itself.

The seawater churned and roared wildly, forming a massive vortex.

As the vortex grew, a great gate radiating a mysterious yet dangerous light slowly emerged. It was none other than the legendary Gate of Heaven, which connected the Celestial Palace to the Mortal World.

The Bright Holy See’s ambition was laid bare. They sought to summon the Light God from the Celestial Palace into the Mortal World. However, they knew that sacrificing the people of the Great Jing Empire alone was not nearly enough to achieve their goal.

They needed millions more fresh lives as offerings to fully open the passage to the unknown.

And so, a horrific slaughter suddenly began across several unsuspecting empires.

In the prosperous Maple Empire, the once-bustling streets were instantly transformed into a living Purgatory.

The shriek of alarms, the heart-rending sobs, and the desperate screams of the helpless intertwined, composing a chilling anthem of sorrow.

In the streets, civilians panicked and scattered in every direction, the scene descending into utter chaos.

A young mother clutched her small child to her chest, her eyes filled with terror and despair. She ran for her life, desperately seeking safety while whispering comfort to her child, “Don’t be afraid, sweetie. Mommy’s here. Mommy will protect you.”

But in the clamor and chaos, her voice was so faint it threatened to be drowned out at any moment.

The city’s Defense Team assembled immediately.

They knew full well that a brutal battle they were unlikely to survive awaited them,

yet they didn’t hesitate or shrink back in the slightest.

The captain stood before his troops, weapon in hand, his expression resolute as he roared, “Men! Our duty is to protect our people, to defend our home! We will fight to the last drop of our blood, but we will not let the enemy succeed!”

His soldiers roared as one, their voices filled with power and resolve.

Then, without a backward glance, they charged the tide of onrushing enemies.

Though the disparity in strength between them and their foe was immense, they were fearless. With their own bodies, they formed an unbreakable line of defense, fighting only to buy more time for the civilians to escape.
