Chapter 649: Chapter 436: We Were Wrong, We Shouldn’t Have Believed Those Lies
…
In the hidden workshop, the lights were dim and flickering. It was filled with all sorts of advanced electronic equipment, and the whirring of the instruments wove together into a tense symphony.
Lin Wanwan sat before the console, her eyes bloodshot and her face gaunt. The long hours of intense work had left her physically and mentally exhausted.
But she knew time was short. The fate of countless people hung on every second, and she couldn’t afford to let up for a moment.
She took a deep breath, forced herself to focus, and once again turned her gaze to the equipment glowing with a technological light before her.
This equipment was the sharp blade in her hand, the key to her battle against the forces of darkness.
This time, she set her sights on the Bright Holy See’s mysterious and heavily guarded satellite.
Lin Wanwan’s ten fingers danced across the keyboard, her movements practiced yet urgent.
Each keystroke produced a crisp, rapid sound.
Her eyes were locked on the screen, revealing a fierce determination and resolve. She didn’t miss a single change in the data scrolling by.
As she fired off one command after another, the data on the screen flashed and jumped.
“Let’s see you try to hide your sins now!”
Lin Wanwan suddenly let out a cold laugh, her voice filled with confidence and the joy of imminent victory.
Finally, after an arduous effort, a conspicuous message popped up on the screen: “Access Granted.”
Lin Wanwan had successfully hacked the Holy See’s satellite!
Without a moment’s hesitation, she quickly worked the computer, broadcasting the live feed of the blood sacrifice to every electronic screen across the globe.
On the giant advertising screen in the most bustling square of the Lighthouse Empire’s Royal City,
various vibrant and energetic commercials had been playing. Handsome men and beautiful women showed off all kinds of products, their faces beaming with happy smiles.
But without warning, the screen suddenly switched to a horrific scene: the blood sacrifice.
The Pope appeared, dressed in a heavy black robe that billowed gently in a faint breeze. His face was twisted and monstrous, his once-dignified features now consumed by madness and evil, his eyes glittering with a chilling light.
His hands were covered in blood as he brutally carved out the Saintess’s heart with his own hands.
The Saintess’s body trembled violently, her face a mask of agony and despair, her eyes wide with terror.
Blood gushed from her chest, splashing onto the ground and quickly staining the earth crimson, a shocking sight under the glare of the sun.
The Pope slowly embedded the still-beating heart into the eye socket of a statue. The entire scene was utterly gory, filled with a sickening aura of terror.
The people in the square had been leisurely strolling, chatting, and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere of the bustling city.
Now, they all stopped in their tracks. The smiles vanished from their faces, replaced by expressions of horror and disbelief.
Their eyes bulged as if they would pop from their sockets, and their mouths hung open wide enough to fit an egg.
Some people dropped their drinks, which fell and splattered across the ground.
Others clamped their hands over their mouths, not daring to make a sound.
Still others stood frozen on the spot, as if struck by an Immobilization Spell.
After a brief silence, someone in the crowd suddenly shouted, “This has to be fake! There’s been more and more negative press about Chu He lately. They must have maliciously created this fake video with technology to protect their Empire’s and Chu He’s image, and to slander the Bright Holy See and the Pope!”
The speaker was a middle-aged man in a sharp suit. He was agitated, his face flushed red, and he waved his arms as he spoke, announcing his “discovery” to the world.
“Yeah, that must be it!”
Soon, more and more people began to agree.
A young woman, her face full of anger, placed her hands on her hips and said loudly, “If that gentleman hadn’t pointed it out, we almost would have been fooled! How could those people be so despicable!”
“Those despicable people from the Great Xia Empire and Chu He are just disgusting! They’ll stop at nothing to get what they want!” a burly man spat on the ground, his face contorted with rage.
“I used to admire Chu He so much, but to think he’s a total Demon! And I even thought of him as a hero!”
An elderly man with graying hair shook his head and sighed, his face etched with disappointment.
Lin Wanwan, her focus absolute, stared at the screen, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she successfully took control of all the surveillance cameras in Times Square.
Originally, she had been full of hope that once the truth of the blood sacrifice was made public, the world would see the Bright Holy See’s ugly face and Chu He’s name would be cleared.
However, when the reactions of the crowd in the square appeared on her screen, her smile froze instantly, and the light in her eyes died.
She watched, helpless, as the people, misled by the Bright Holy See’s propaganda, showed faces full of anger and disappointment.
Her shoulders trembled slightly, and her hands fell limply to her sides. Like a puppet with its strings cut, she collapsed into her chair.
Lin Wanwan’s eyes were vacant. She stared blankly at the ceiling, her lips trembling as she murmured to herself, “Could it be that all my sleepless nights, all this effort I’ve poured in… was it all for nothing?”
Her voice was as soft as a mosquito’s buzz, yet it was filled with endless despair.
The video broadcast in the Royal City of the Lighthouse Empire was like a bombshell, setting off a tidal wave across the globe.
But under the Bright Holy See’s overwhelming media offensive,
aside from those in the Great Xia Empire who steadfastly believed in Chu He,
