Chapter 637: Countless Humanoid Moths of White Light
Chapter 637: Chapter 433: Countless Humanoid Moths of White Light
They could only tremble in this unknown terror, awaiting the judgment of fate.
…
Within the Royal Palace of the Great Jing Empire, violent tremors rocked the structure one after another, as if intent on utterly destroying this symbol of power.
Cracks spread rapidly across the palace walls like spiderwebs. Exquisite murals peeled and flaked away, and ornate crystal chandeliers swayed precariously, threatening to crash down at any moment.
Ye Lingyun stood at the center of this chaos, her long black dress fluttering gently in the turbulent air.
The cold, mocking smile on her face grew more pronounced as she parted her thin lips. “That fool, Ji Shengyue. After all this trouble, it’s about time she faced reality.
“She really thought she was something special, trying to pull a fast one right under my nose.
“If I hadn’t been pulling the strings behind the scenes, how could she have left the Royal Palace so easily?”
Her words were filled with disdain; in her eyes, all of Ji Shengyue’s efforts were nothing more than a farcical drama.
The moment she finished speaking, Ye Lingyun gave a light wave of her hand. A blood-red energy erupted in an instant, carrying a cataclysmic force.
Wherever the energy passed, bricks and stones were sent flying and pillars and beams snapped.
Under this immense power, the entire Royal Palace was torn to shreds like a fragile house of cards.
In the blink of an eye, the once-magnificent Royal Palace was reduced to a field of rubble, and the rising dust blotted out the sun.
Ye Lingyun’s figure flashed, and she appeared like a phantom in the square outside the Royal Palace.
The sight that greeted her made her narrow her eyes slightly.
In eight directions across the Great Jing Empire, enormous pillars of white light had appeared.
These pillars were so tall they seemed to touch the sky, radiating a majestic aura and a blinding light that was impossible to look at directly.
The pillars constantly emitted a low HUM, a sound that seemed to emanate from the depths of Hell, enough to make one’s skin crawl.
The energy they contained was powerful beyond imagination, devoid of the warmth and hope one would associate with light. There was only endless terror and a suffocating pressure.
It was these eight colossal white pillars, vibrating ceaselessly, that caused the very ground to tremble, plunging the Great Jing Empire into an unprecedented catastrophe.
Across the land, fissures crisscrossed the ground, buildings collapsed in droves, and streets buckled and warped.
Then, from the eight pillars of white light, countless white shadows began to pour out.
The shadows were vaguely humanoid in shape, but their faces and other features were indistinct, visible only as a blur of blinding white light.
On their backs were two white wings formed from condensed light, which flapped rapidly with a faint yet eerie sound.
Densely packed, they swarmed across the sky toward every corner of the Great Jing Empire.
On the bustling city streets, people froze in place, terrified by the sudden, horrific sight.
A young office worker’s coffee cup fell from his hand, hitting the ground with a CLANG.
The scalding coffee splashed onto his pant leg, but he didn’t even notice.
He stared wide-eyed at the approaching white shadows in the sky, his lips trembling and his legs weak. He didn’t even have the strength to run.
After a long moment, he snapped out of it as if waking from a dream. He turned and sprinted desperately toward a side alley, screaming hoarsely as he ran, “Run! Monsters are coming!”
His cry was like a signal, and the street instantly erupted into chaos.
The blare of car horns, the shouts of the people, and their terrified screams wove together into a symphony of despair.
A mother clutched her young child tightly, tears streaming uncontrollably down her cheeks.
Her body trembled violently as she stumbled frantically toward home, muttering over and over, “Don’t be afraid, sweetie, Mommy’s here, Mommy’s here…”
But her voice was so faint, swallowed by the surrounding din.
Wherever the white shadows went, a bloody slaughter began.
An old man, running too slowly, was overtaken by one of the white shadows.
The white shadow extended a hand made of condensed light. With a gentle wave, the old man’s body instantly shriveled as if all moisture had been drained from it, turning into a desiccated corpse that fell stiffly to the ground.
The old man’s blood, along with the faintly glowing essence of his body, was continuously siphoned into the massive white pillars of light.
In the countryside, the villagers were likewise plunged into endless terror.
A young man was about to head out to work in the fields when he saw the white shadows in the sky. His hoe fell from his grasp with a CLATTER.
He turned to run back into his house, but a white shadow blocked his path.
The white shadow let out a piercing shriek. The young man felt a sharp pain, his vision went black, and he lost consciousness.
When he collapsed, he had already become a lifeless, desiccated corpse.
A young woman hid under her bed, her hands clamped tightly over her mouth, daring not to make a sound.
Her eyes were wide with terror and despair.
Listening to the screams outside, tears streamed endlessly down her face as she silently prayed for this nightmare to end quickly.
However, a white shadow discovered her anyway and slowly approached the bed.
The woman’s heart began to race, and she felt as if she couldn’t breathe.
Just as the white shadow was about to touch her, the woman let out a desperate scream.
The cry pierced the air, only to be instantly swallowed by the overwhelming wave of terror.
The skies of the Great Jing Empire were shrouded in fear and despair. Cities teetered on the brink of collapse amid the violent tremors, and the streets were filled with the cries of the people and the roar of falling buildings.
Amidst this chaos, the dense, blood-colored ranks of the Vampire Clan gathered silently atop a towering building, like a surging sea of blood.
They exuded a cold and sinister aura, a stark contrast to the chaotic Mortal World below.
Those white, moth-like humanoids, flitting through the air and reaping human lives like the Death God himself, seemed completely unaware of the Vampire Clan’s presence, showing not the slightest interest.
Apparently, the blood essence flowing through the Vampires’ veins did not suit the “tastes” of these white, moth-like humanoids.
As the Clan Leader of the Vampire Clan, Ye Lingyun had no intention of intervening in the catastrophe unfolding in the Mortal World.
She stood silently at the pinnacle of the skyscraper, her black dress fluttering in the wind, and gazed down with cold indifference. The disaster unfolding before her was of no concern to her.
“Have you pinpointed the exact location of those people from the Bright Holy See?”
Ye Lingyun finally spoke, her voice as cold and low as a thousand-year frost.
Her voice carried clearly over the howling wind, utterly flat, yet it exuded an intangible pressure.
“I have them locked down. We can leave immediately. They’re still there.”
Xiao Cangqing replied respectfully from her side.
His eyes were an unnatural blood-red, a color so deep and rich it was like two burning, crimson flames.
A series of rapidly changing scenes were reflected in his eyes.
If one were to look closely,
they would see that his blood-red pupils
reflected the images of Archbishop Raphael of the Bright Holy See and Ji Shengyue.
They were surrounded by a large group of figures in red robes—
the Cardinals who had secretly infiltrated the Great Jing Empire.
Their expressions were solemn and focused as they performed a crucial ritual.
“We’ve video-recorded all the plans Ji Shengyue and those people from the Bright Holy See have discussed over the past few days,
“as well as every single detail of their attempt to see the plan to completion.”
Xiao Cangqing added, presenting their glorious achievements to Ye Lingyun.
Ye Lingyun nodded slightly, a cold glint in her eyes. “Then let’s move out immediately.”
With that, she gave a light wave of her hand.
In an instant, a thick, blood-colored fog, like a surging tide,
enveloped the members of the Vampire Clan.
The fog was filled with a pungent, nauseating stench of blood.
Shrouded in the bloody mist, the Vampires’ figures grew indistinct and then vanished completely, as if they had never been there at all.
