Chapter 251: Fusing the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan
Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Fusing the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan
To seal Iwato into Uchiha Ryota’s right eye using the Transcription Seal, Hyuga Kagami first needed to transplant Uchiha Hideki’s Mangekyō Sharingan into himself.
Naturally, Kagami wasn’t about to take the risk of removing the Tenseigan from his Yin Release true body just to transplant Hideki’s Mangekyō Sharingan. And since he didn’t have any other clone bodies available at the moment, he had no choice but to make do with his Water Release clone.
Manipulating the surgical instruments, Kagami carefully removed the pair of incomplete Byakugan from the Water Release clone’s eye sockets.
In the future, when he used the Chimera Technique to make his attempt at attaining the supreme Kekkei Mōra, none of Kagami’s clones could have even the slightest defect. Even their eyes had to be their original, incomplete versions of the Byakugan.
Therefore, if the Water Release clone’s incomplete Byakugan were lost or damaged, the entire Water Release clone would effectively have to be discarded.
After safely preserving the temporarily removed Byakugan, Kagami immediately transplanted Uchiha Hideki’s Mangekyō Sharingan into the Water Release clone’s eye sockets.
Immediately afterward, Kagami moved the unconscious Uchiha Ryota from the large nutrient tank onto the operating table, then transplanted Ryota’s Mangekyō Sharingan back into his eye sockets.
"Everything’s ready!"
Controlling the Water Release clone, Kagami walked over to the operating table and slowly closed his eyes.
Several breaths later, his eyes suddenly snapped open.
Within his pupils gleamed the unique, almost demonic light of the Mangekyō Sharingan.
Then, he extended a finger and pressed it against the forehead of the unconscious Uchiha Ryota.
At that very instant, the Transcription Seal activated, sealing the ocular ability he had just activated, Iwato, into the Mangekyō Sharingan in Ryota’s right eye.
The moment the Transcription Seal was completed, Kagami felt the entire world spin around him.
"Haa..."
He leaned against the wall and panted for quite a while before finally recovering.
"As expected, using the Water Release clone to activate the Transcription Seal is still a bit too taxing..."
Earlier, even using his Yin Release true body to perform the Transcription Seal had nearly drained Kagami of all his strength. This time, not only was he using the Water Release clone, but the Mangekyō Sharingan itself had also been transplanted from Uchiha Hideki, making the burden even greater than before.
"Fortunately, I only needed to use it once. Otherwise, even this Water Release clone of mine might have been damaged..."
Gently shaking his head, Kagami focused his senses and examined the pair of Uchiha Hideki’s Mangekyō Sharingan currently sitting in his eye sockets. He discovered that a considerable amount of their ocular power had been consumed.
Kagami thought to himself, "I hope my hypothesis is correct!"
The entire reason he had gone through all this trouble was because he hoped that once the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan was successfully fused, it would retain both of their unique Mangekyō ocular abilities—Ryota’s Mikoto and Hideki’s Iwato.
However, Kagami’s hypothesis was based entirely on one special case from the original timeline.
Itachi had once used the Transcription Seal to seal Amaterasu into Sasuke’s Sharingan. Later, when Sasuke awakened his own Mangekyō Sharingan, he also possessed Amaterasu.
As for whether the resulting Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan would actually retain both Mikoto and Iwato, Kagami himself wasn’t certain.
After completing all the preparations for the fusion, Kagami returned to his Yin Release true body.
First, he methodically removed Uchiha Hideki’s Mangekyō Sharingan from the Water Release clone’s eye sockets and restored the clone’s original incomplete Byakugan. Then, carrying Hideki’s Mangekyō Sharingan, he slowly walked over to the operating table.
The entire reason Kagami had kept Uchiha Hideki and Uchiha Ryota alive was precisely for the fusion of the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.
This was because fusing an Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan required the owner of either pair of Mangekyō Sharingan to serve as the host body during the fusion, providing a stable and continuous supply of chakra throughout the process.
Therefore, before the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan was successfully fused, Kagami couldn’t kill either of the two brothers.
As for which brother would serve as the host, that mainly depended on whose Mangekyō Sharingan Kagami chose as the foundation.
Kagami had chosen Uchiha Ryota’s Mangekyō Sharingan.
After all, in terms of overall versatility, Ryota’s Mangekyō ocular ability, Mikoto, was clearly superior to Hideki’s Iwato.
Thus, Uchiha Ryota would serve as the host body for this Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan fusion. His own Mangekyō Sharingan would serve as the foundation and devour the Mangekyō Sharingan of his elder brother, Uchiha Hideki.
Kagami performed one final examination of the still-unconscious Ryota on the operating table. After confirming that all of his physical indicators were normal, Kagami took a deep breath and began the fusion surgery.
The fusion of the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan was, in essence, the ocular power of one pair devouring the ocular power of the other.
Therefore, this fusion surgery actually involved transplanting Uchiha Hideki’s Mangekyō Sharingan directly into Uchiha Ryota’s eye sockets—
eye sockets that already contained a pair of Mangekyō Sharingan.
Simply put, Ryota’s eye sockets needed to accommodate two pairs of Mangekyō Sharingan at the same time.
The space inside a human eye socket was limited, and the area connecting to the optic nerve was extraordinarily fragile. Trying to fit two eyeballs into a single eye socket at the same time was therefore an extremely difficult task.
The slightest mistake during the surgery—whether it damaged the eye socket itself or one of the Mangekyō Sharingan—would directly cause the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan fusion to fail.
Thus, even Kagami, who had extensive experience with eye transplants, couldn’t help but feel nervous when faced with such an extraordinarily complicated operation.
Using surgical instruments to hold Ryota’s eyelids open, Kagami began the transplant on the left eye.
The area surrounding the human eye socket consisted almost entirely of soft tissue. By compressing it slightly, fitting two eyeballs into the same socket wasn’t impossible.
The crucial part was ensuring that neither eyeball, nor the eye socket itself, suffered even the slightest damage during the transplant.
It took Kagami an entire hour to finally complete the transplant in the left eye.
"Haa..."
Letting out a breath of relief, Kagami wiped the beads of sweat from his forehead.
The left-eye transplant had been extremely successful. Perhaps because the two were blood-related brothers, the two Mangekyō Sharingan showed no signs of rejection whatsoever despite occupying the same eye socket.
Taking advantage of the momentum, Kagami immediately began the transplant on the right eye.
Just like with the left eye, the transplant of the right eye proceeded extremely smoothly. The two Mangekyō Sharingan occupying the same eye socket showed no signs of rejection whatsoever.
After completing the transplant surgery, Kagami covered Ryota’s eyes with sterile cloth.
Kagami didn’t know how long it had taken Uchiha Madara to fuse his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, but he vaguely remembered that when Sasuke underwent the fusion, he had remained bedridden for quite a long time.
And since Uchiha Ryota was currently unconscious, the time required for his fusion might be even longer than Sasuke’s...
