Chapter 252: Chapter 252: An Accident

After several days of observation, Hyuga Kagami discovered that the two pairs of Mangekyo Sharingan within Uchiha Ryota’s eye sockets had already begun the initial stages of fusion. However, the fusion was progressing extremely slowly.

Standing before the operating table, Kagami rested his chin on one hand and murmured to himself, "At this rate, it’ll probably take at least three months for the fusion to be fully completed."

As the host body for the fusion of the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, Uchiha Ryota was currently unconscious. Therefore, the fusion of the two pairs of Mangekyo Sharingan within his eye sockets was being carried out entirely by his body’s instincts.

And precisely because of that, without Ryota’s own will actively driving the process forward, the fusion into the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan was inevitably going to be extremely slow.

There wasn’t much Kagami could do about this either. All he could do was wait patiently.

As for whether the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan would ultimately be successfully fused, and what kind of ocular abilities the resulting Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan would possess, all of that could only be left to fate.

Temporarily setting aside the matter of the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan fusion, Kagami ignored his exhaustion and began planning the cloning process for his Fire Release clone.

Without a doubt, cloning the Fire Release clone would be far more difficult than cloning the previous Water Release clone.

This was not only because the nature transformation of Fire Release chakra was less stable than that of Water Release chakra, but also because this time, the target Kagami had chosen for the fusion was none other than Uchiha Shisui of the Uchiha clan.

Although the Uchiha clan was naturally born with exceptionally powerful Fire-nature chakra and possessed unparalleled talent in Fire Release,

as a clan possessing a dōjutsu Kekkei Genkai, the Uchiha clan’s primary chakra nature was actually the same as Kagami’s—Yin-nature chakra, which represented spiritual energy, rather than Fire-nature chakra.

In other words, Fire-nature chakra was merely a secondary chakra nature for members of the Uchiha clan.

This meant that when cultivating the embryo for his Fire Release clone, Kagami not only needed to use the large centrifuge to filter out the excess Yin-nature chakra from his own cellular tissue, but also needed to filter out the excess Yin-nature chakra from Shisui’s cellular tissue, allowing Fire-nature chakra to become the dominant chakra nature within Shisui’s cells.

While cloning his Water Release clone, Kagami had already realized that the filtration process performed by the large centrifuge caused extremely severe damage to cellular tissue.

Back then, however, only Kagami’s cellular tissue had needed to undergo filtration. Haku’s cellular tissue required no such treatment and could be directly fused with his own.

This time, both Kagami’s and Shisui’s cellular tissues had to undergo filtration through the large centrifuge, meaning both sets of cells would suffer severe damage.

Naturally, the probability of successfully fusing two sets of damaged cellular tissue would be drastically reduced.

Bzzzzzz...

Amid the noisy hum of the large centrifuge, Kagami successively completed the filtration of Yin-nature chakra from both his own cellular tissue and Shisui’s.

From this filtration step alone, of the 500 carefully prepared culture samples, 330 were completely destroyed inside the large centrifuge and lost all cellular activity.

Of the remaining 170 samples, another 30 were so severely damaged that they were no longer suitable for cultivation.

In the end, only 140 samples remained to proceed to the next stage—the fusion and cultivation process.

Just like last time, the cell fusion ratio was 99 to 1.

In other words, within the Fire Release clone, 99% of the cellular tissue came from Hyuga Kagami himself, while Shisui’s cellular tissue accounted for only around 1% of the total.

Once the cell fusion stage began, Kagami activated his Tenseigan at full power and began monitoring all 140 culture samples in real time.

It wasn’t long before rejection reactions began appearing one after another.

In less than an hour, nearly ninety percent of the 140 samples exhibited severe rejection reactions. Before the cellular tissues could even complete their fusion, they completely necrotized.

Immediately afterward, the cellular tissues in the remaining dozen or so samples also began exhibiting rejection reactions one after another.

In the end, only a single sample was fortunate enough to survive the rejection reaction and successfully complete the fusion process.

As Kagami monitored everything, his expression gradually turned grave.

When he had cloned his Water Release clone, only six samples of cellular tissue had survived the filtration process. Yet of those six, three ultimately survived the rejection reaction and successfully fused, giving him a fusion success rate of 50%.

This time, however, Kagami had prepared a full 140 samples.

Yet only one had successfully completed the fusion.

The success rate wasn’t even 1%.

"The Uchiha clan’s cellular tissue is actually this incompatible with foreign cells?"

Although Kagami had already anticipated that cloning the Fire Release clone wouldn’t be easy, the situation before him still exceeded his expectations.

After examining the sole surviving fused embryo under a high-powered microscope, Kagami’s brows furrowed even more deeply.

The only embryo that had successfully fused had suffered severe cellular damage, and its vitality was extremely weak. It fell well short of even the minimum standard Kagami had established for a viable cloned embryo.

By Kagami’s standards, it could already be classified as a defective specimen.

After hesitating for a moment, however, Kagami chose not to destroy it. Instead, he placed it inside the cultivation apparatus and began cultivating it.

Over the following week, Kagami attempted cell fusion more than a thousand additional times.

The results were far beyond his expectations.

Of those thousand-plus subsequent attempts, not a single one succeeded.

After spending an enormous amount of time, money, and effort only to end up with such a result, Kagami was deeply troubled. Rubbing his chin, he thought to himself, "Could it be that my cells simply aren’t compatible with Shisui’s?"

When fused with Haku’s cells, the success rate had reached as high as 50%.

Yet when fused with Shisui’s cells, the success rate was below 0.1%.

Faced with this cruel reality, Kagami couldn’t help but arrive at such a suspicion.

Meanwhile, as Kagami continued repeatedly attempting to fuse his own cellular tissue with Shisui’s, the defective embryo that had previously succeeded by sheer luck had already begun developing inside the large nutrient tank.

Every time Kagami passed by the large nutrient tank containing the defective clone, he would unconsciously furrow his brows.

For some unknown reason, the defective embryo had undergone an abnormal mutation during cultivation and actually developed into a female body, completely deviating from Kagami’s original plan.

Naturally, Kagami couldn’t accept a female Fire Release clone.

As a result, he had no choice but to expand the range of his cell donors beyond Shisui alone, adding other members of the Uchiha clan such as Itachi, Sasuke, Ryota, and Hideki.

At this point, Kagami was no longer in any position to be picky.

The exclusivity of the Uchiha bloodline was simply too powerful—so powerful that its cells were almost incapable of fusing with the cells of outsiders.

This had completely exceeded Kagami’s expectations.

Therefore, in order to obtain more successfully fused cellular embryos, Kagami had no choice but to include even those Uchiha whose natural aptitude was somewhat inferior to Shisui’s among his potential cell donors...
