"This rabbit meat is surprisingly delicious! The flavour is still lingering in my mouth. I know for sure we’ll sleep really well tonight," Harumiko said softly, eating happily.

Hiroshi nodded with a smile. He knew from experience that a good, filling meal before bed always made for a much more comfortable sleep.

"Perfect. Now I know we’ll rest well tonight. And honestly, adding salt made such a difference — it tastes amazing. I guess that salt we bought definitely won’t be going to waste!" Hiroshi said, looking at the meat in his hand.

Harumiko alternated between eating and sipping her drink. Eating only meat without anything to wash it down did make it a little dry and hard to swallow.

"This is incredible! There’s nothing quite like eating meat and drinking freely like this. It’s been ages since I enjoyed a meal this much!" she said, wiping her mouth with a satisfied grin.

Hiroshi couldn’t help but laugh at her expression. He had never seen this side of her before — she looked so cute and carefree.

"I never knew you could be this adorable! But you’re right, this food really is delicious. And sleep will be great tonight too — especially since you already fixed up our spot, right?" he said warmly.

She nodded gently. "Don’t worry, Hiroshi. We’ll be very comfortable tonight. I laid down a soft layer of grass. As long as we sleep fully clothed, it won’t stick to us or feel uncomfortable — it’ll be soft and cosy."

Hiroshi nodded, tore off a leg from the rabbit in his hand, and ate it slowly. To be able to enjoy such tasty food out in the wild was truly wonderful.

"Let’s finish eating, rest a bit afterwards, and keep an eye out for anything unusual nearby. If everything stays quiet, we can go to sleep," he said softly while chewing.

Harumiko didn’t slow down at all; she just nodded and kept eating. Seasoned meat definitely tasted better, though still not quite as good as the meals they had back home.

And so they sat by the fire, eating their fill. Hiroshi had caught three rabbits — more than enough for both of them. Wild rabbits were naturally larger than domestic ones, and their meat was much tastier and firmer too.

"I can’t believe three rabbits were enough to fill us up completely! They were quite big, yet there was hardly any fat — all lean meat. Wild rabbits really are perfect for roasting," Hiroshi remarked as he finished the last bite.

Harumiko nodded in full agreement. The meat was tender, juicy, and full of flavour — eating it felt almost like a dream.

"Still... maybe we shouldn’t eat rabbits too often from now on. They’re such cute little creatures. It feels a bit wrong making them our dinner all the time," she said, wiping her mouth.

Hiroshi nodded slowly. He felt a little guilty too; eating such adorable animals didn’t feel quite right.

"You’re right. But right now, we have to eat whatever we can find — we can’t be too picky. If we had other choices, I’d never want to eat them either. But I searched for ages earlier and found nothing else. Apart from these rabbits, there wasn’t a single other animal around," he explained softly.

"Really? Well, that’s actually good news! It proves there are no dangerous beasts nearby. If there were large predators around, these rabbits would never dare come out to feed. That means we can sleep soundly tonight — no need to worry about big animals disturbing us," Harumiko said, glancing around the dark forest with a smile.

Hiroshi realised immediately she was right. If there were large predators in the area, the rabbits would have stayed hidden. Tonight, they could truly rest without fear.
