Naruto: Adopted Son of Minato
Chapter 782: NASM - 782
"Alright, Harumiko, you finish the rest of the food here. I’ll climb up and check out our sleeping spot for tonight, and keep a lookout around the area. We can’t let our guard down — we always need to stay alert when we’re out in the wild," Hiroshi said with a smile as she continued eating.
She nodded happily and went back to finishing the rabbit meat and drinks.
"She really has quite an appetite," Hiroshi thought to himself, watching her. "I was full after just over one rabbit, but she’s still going. And drinking that much too — doesn’t her stomach feel tight? But then again, she’s one of those people who never seems to gain weight no matter how much she eats."
He climbed up the large tree and saw how cosy their resting place looked. She had laid down plenty of grass, so it would be soft and comfortable to lie on. Thick branches surrounded them, providing good cover so they wouldn’t be easily spotted.
"She really put a lot of effort into getting this ready. It wasn’t easy making a place like this out here," Hiroshi murmured softly, looking at their bed for the night. "But even so, we can’t sleep too deeply. We have to wake up instantly at the slightest sound."
He climbed even higher to get a better view. From up there, it was much easier to see around — especially since he possessed the Golden Eyes, which let him see clearly even in the dark.
"Without these eyes, I wouldn’t be able to see far at all. But right now, I can see for dozens of metres all around, and everything looks quiet. Tonight should be peaceful. I just hope we don’t run into any enemies on the road tomorrow," he whispered, scanning the surroundings.
He noticed the moon was full and bright, and the sky was filled with countless stars — a sure sign that tomorrow would be clear and sunny.
"We’ll be travelling again tomorrow. Better rest well tonight. It’s bound to be hot again, but we brought plenty of drinks. They’ll keep us hydrated and cool us down along the way," he said softly, gazing up at the stars.
This was the first night in several days they had to sleep in a tree. There were no inns or villages nearby — nothing for kilometres around.
There would be almost no proper places to stay for the rest of their journey home. Their only options were caves or tall trees like this one.
"Looks like no proper beds for the next few days. But it doesn’t matter — we’ll rest properly once we’re home. Sleeping in a big soft bed again... just thinking about it makes me happy and excited," Hiroshi murmured, sitting comfortably on the branch and looking at the sky.
He had just eaten a full meal, and sitting there now felt wonderful — everyone feels like resting after eating well.
"I really hope we don’t meet any enemies on the way home. It’s not that I’m afraid I can’t beat them, but fighting takes time — time we don’t want to waste. I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly," he said quietly to himself.
Tonight, they didn’t need to worry about animals disturbing them anyway — they had kept a fire burning below, and all beasts were naturally afraid of fire.
Down below, Harumiko finally finished all the remaining food and drinks. She had quite a large appetite, and only now did she feel truly full.
"My stomach is completely satisfied now. I’m ready to sleep... but not just yet. I need to move around a bit or rest a while to let everything digest first," she said softly, standing up slowly and looking at the fire.
She glanced up to where Hiroshi was, then quickly climbed up the tree and sat down beside him.
"Hiroshi, I’m done eating! What are you looking at? The moon is so round and bright tonight, and look at all those stars! Tomorrow is definitely going to be beautiful weather," she said happily as she joined him.
She settled comfortably next to him, and together they sat gazing at the moon and stars above.
