Chapter 728: NASM - 728

Just as Harumiko had finished getting ready, Hiroshi arrived back at their room carrying breakfast. He quietly unlocked the door, stepped inside with the food, and closed it gently behind him.

"Harumiko, you’re already awake! Look what I bought from outside – some steamed buns and porridge. I’m not sure how they taste, but come on, let’s eat while it’s still fresh!" Hiroshi said with a smile, looking at Harumiko who was sitting on the bed.

At the sound of his voice, Harumiko looked up to meet his gaze, and her cheeks instantly turned pink again – her mind drifting back to the time they had spent sleeping together the night before.

"O-okay. I just finished washing up, so let’s have breakfast now. It really has been ages since we had a proper morning meal like this!" Harumiko said as she stood up slowly, returning his smile.

Hiroshi nodded happily, set the food down on the table, washed his hands, and then sat back down.

And so the two of them sat together and began to eat.

"By the way, Hiroshi... did you sleep well last night? Was it much more comfortable sleeping on the bed than it would have been on the floor?" Harumiko asked him with a gentle smile.

Hiroshi nodded and replied, "It really was comfortable. I haven’t slept in a proper bed for such a long time... though I’ll admit, my arm was feeling a bit sore when I woke up this morning."

Harumiko lowered her head and kept eating, nodding quietly all the while.

"What about you? Did you sleep well too? I saw you were still fast asleep when I got up this morning, so I decided to go straight out and get us breakfast – that way we could eat as soon as I got back!" Hiroshi said cheerfully between mouthfuls.

Harumiko nodded as she ate, then said, "Mm, it was wonderful. I even had a lovely dream... though now I can’t quite remember what it was about. Just bits and pieces here and there, so it’s not worth talking about. But I really did sleep so well – it’s way more comfortable than resting up in the trees, that’s for sure!"

Hiroshi smiled and nodded, and they went back to their meal.

"I think Hiroshi assumed I was already fast asleep before he slowly moved in to hold me... so he probably didn’t notice anything strange. And from the way he’s speaking, it sounds like he didn’t realise I wasn’t wearing anything underneath my robe. That makes me feel so much more relieved!" Harumiko thought to herself, stealing a quick glance at Hiroshi’s face.

Meanwhile, Hiroshi’s mind was still replaying everything that had happened the night before and earlier that morning. It all felt so unbelievable, yet it filled his heart with nothing but joy.

They sat there eating together for quite some time before finishing everything on the table. If the food hadn’t still been hot, they would have finished even sooner.

"Let’s just stay here and rest for a while, and go out later this afternoon. It was already really hot out when I went out just now, so let’s wait until it cools down a bit," Hiroshi suggested as he sat down on the bed, smiling at Harumiko.

Harumiko nodded happily and replied, "Okay, we’ll go out later then. I haven’t had nearly enough rest yet, actually – I think I’d like to lie down on the bed and doze off for a little while longer."

"You really are a little lazy, aren’t you? Fine, fine... you’ve been working so hard these past few days, so go ahead and get some more sleep," Hiroshi said softly with a laugh.

Harumiko nodded gently and whispered, "Hiroshi... I want to lie down and hold you while I rest."

As she said this, her face turned bright red – it was clear she was still feeling quite shy.

"Alright then... because I’ve been wanting to hold you close too," Hiroshi replied quietly, his face softening into a warm smile.

When they first lay down, they kept a distance between them, each staying on their own side of the bed.

"I should be the one to make the first move," Hiroshi thought to himself.

He slowly shifted closer towards the window, then stretched out his arm and pulled her gently into his embrace.

At first, Harumiko looked a little surprised, but soon a faint smile spread across her lips – it was obvious that her heart was overflowing with happiness once again.

Wrapped safely in Hiroshi’s arms, Harumiko slowly drifted off to sleep, and even as she rested, that sweet smile never left her face.
