"Will he think I was being too forward? A girl should keep her composure. If I act this boldly all the time, he might even start feeling put off. I guess I need to be a bit more mindful of how I present myself from now on, and I shouldn’t let things go this far again. But still... sleeping in Hiroshi’s arms really made me feel so happy and secure."

"And I slept so well last night. I even had sweet dreams, and my whole body feels light and relaxed now!" Harumiko slowly sat up and looked around the room, her thoughts turning over in her mind.

But right then, she noticed something that made her heart skip a beat: she realised she’d only been wearing a bathrobe while sleeping, and the thought filled her with embarrassment.

"Oh no, really? I only had this one thing on last night... how mortifying! I wonder if Hiroshi noticed anything, or if he saw anything when he first woke up just now. Either way, my heart is racing so fast right now... I really am feeling so shy!" Harumiko quickly pulled the quilt up to cover herself properly, her face flushed red as she spoke softly.

It seemed that Harumiko herself had no idea why she’d slept like that, nor did she remember exactly what had happened the night before – though she did know for certain that it had been the most peaceful and comfortable sleep she’d had in ages.

"Ah well, there’s no point worrying about it now. The fact remains that I slept in the same bed as Hiroshi last night, and the feeling was just... indescribable. My heart was beating so fast the whole time, I was filled with such excitement and joy."

"And most of all, I could clearly hear how fast his heart was beating too, and yet he didn’t do anything at all... thinking about it now, I almost feel a little disappointed!" Harumiko slowly got out of bed, her mind still racing with these thoughts.

She looked down at her own body, and felt completely satisfied with what she saw. It was clear that Harumiko had full confidence in her own figure and appearance.

"I wonder what Hiroshi is doing outside right now. Did he leave just to give me time to get changed and ready? But I put on such a good act of being fast asleep, he really shouldn’t have realised I was already awake!" Harumiko stood by the window and looked out, lost in thought.

The two of them really were quite the pair – it was obvious they had feelings for each other, yet neither of them wanted to cross the line or take things too far. And they’d kept this delicate balance in their relationship for such a long time; perhaps it was simply because they were still so young.

"I never realised there were so many places selling breakfast here in the village. I’ll just buy some steamed buns and porridge – it’s the kind of meal we hardly ever get to have these days. It’s good to change things up once in a while, we can’t keep eating the same wild game and forest food all the time!" Hiroshi thought to himself as he stood outside a breakfast shop.

With that, he walked inside and ordered exactly what he wanted to eat.

When they were travelling, nutritious meals were hard to come by. Usually, they survived on whatever they could hunt or gather in the wild, cooking and preparing it themselves, so it had been ages since they’d enjoyed such a proper, ready-made breakfast.

Sometimes, when they went too long without eating, they even had to rely on emergency ration packs – food that offered little to no nutrition, but was the only option available. When you were out travelling on the road, getting to eat a proper meal really was a rare blessing.

Meanwhile, Harumiko had changed her clothes and gone into the bathroom to wash her face and do her makeup.

Every girl wanted to look her best, and Harumiko was no exception. Over the past year, she’d seen many other women wearing makeup, and even though she was naturally beautiful enough as it was, she’d learned how to apply it herself – and now her appearance was nothing short of breathtaking, like a fairy who had descended to the mortal world.

"Finally done... I have to say, putting on makeup really makes me feel so much more refreshed and energised. I think I’m actually getting used to wearing it now. I guess I really should keep practising when I have the chance – after all, every girl wants to look beautiful, and they say that for good reason!" Harumiko said softly with a smile as she looked at her reflection in the mirror.

But right then, the memories of the night before came flooding back into her mind, and her face turned bright red once again. Being such a sweet and innocent young girl, every moment of that experience had left a deep and lasting impression on her heart.

"I really have no idea how I’m supposed to face Hiroshi when he comes back. I was so bold and open with him last night, and now I don’t even know what I’m supposed to say to him. But no matter what happens, we’re going to be together for a long time from now... I guess I’ll just have to get used to things like this!" Harumiko shook her head gently and let out a quiet sigh, her thoughts settling at last.
