My Villainess Management System.
Chapter 29: Gold rank mission
.....
(Ding! The host has issued a mission!
Forces from Oghara are attacking the organisation. The host has ordered Villainess Feng Shuran to kill them.
Mission grade: Gold rank.
Reward: 20,000MP.
Confirm mission: Yes/No)
...
’Yes,’ Gu Chen answered with a thought and a mission card was immediately used up.
Gu Chen was elated by the amount of MP he would earn from this mission; it was several times more than the reward from the previous mission!
’A gold-rank mission, I wonder how the missions are graded,’ he wondered. If he could figure out the requirements for grading missions, he would be able to issue higher-grade missions for more rewards.
For now, he could only observe with little detail. Previously, he had sent Feng Shuran to retrieve an Immortal-grade magical treasure, and she had faced far more people during that mission, yet it was only graded as silver rank.
This time, she was facing fewer people and even had the black needle with the help of the base’s forcefield, yet it was graded as gold rank.
’Could it be because the formation plate has reduced her strength to that of a Core Formation Realm cultivator?’ Gu Chen thought. If that was included, it would look like Feng Shuran was facing multiple people with the same strength as herself.
The danger really seems to be higher compared to when she faced them as a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator.
"Right away," Feng Shuran replied after Gu Chen instructed her to kill these people who had invaded their territory.
Almost invisible silver threads appeared around her hands as she rose into the air. But before she could fly off, Gu Chen called out.
"Don’t destroy the formation plate; try to retrieve that mirror," He instructed.
Feng Shuran paused, a surprised look on her face. She planned to destroy the formation plate first and regain her strength. If she didn’t, it would be a bit difficult to kill these people.
But the next second, an enlightened look appeared on her face as she remembered something.
’This must be a test from Master; he must have known that this would happen and had ordered me to refine the needle earlier.’ Feng Shuran thought.
She retrieved her threads and a black needle appeared above her right palm.
"I understand, Master." She smiled at Gu Chen before flying into the sky.
.....
The cultivators in the sky were still overwhelmed by shock when they saw Feng Shuran flying towards them.
"The Invisible Killer is coming out; what should we do?"
A Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator screamed in panic, recalling Feng Shuran’s overwhelming display of strength the previous day.
"We have to run, let’s retreat!" Another disciple from one of the sects shouted.
"You fools, stand your ground. This is exactly what we wanted; we couldn’t break the barrier, but she’s coming to us instead." The old man with the hourglass magical treasure hissed, glaring at the disciples who were trying to retreat.
Under his sharp gaze, all of them froze in place.
"Indeed, I would not have used my mirror if I knew she was going to come out willingly. The suppression is still in effect, and she can’t do more than us. Let’s kill her!" The silver-haired woman said with a cold look in her eyes.
"Kill her!"
"Kill her!"
The rest of the disciples shouted in unison; all of them readied their weapons and waited for Feng Shuran to come out of the force field.
The moment she came out, someone dashed towards her.
"Invisible killer, die!"
The red-haired woman laughed freely and waved her weapon towards Feng Shuran. Her weapon was a magical treasure of the Earth grade, which was in the form of a metal fan covered in red fabric.
The moment she waved it, a gigantic phantom of the metal fan appeared and rolled toward Feng Shuran. Raging flames burned on the surface of the fan, and the temperature of the surroundings instantly soared to a near-unbearable level.
The nearby disciples were forced to move back as the heat was too much for them to handle.
A cold smile appeared on Feng Shuran’s face when she saw the flaming fan that covered the sky.
"Xu Meng, you’re too weak to kill me." She chuckled and pushed her hand forward.
The black needle that was floating above her palm immediately flew out and shot towards the fan’s phantom like a black star.
Its speed wasn’t too great since Feng Shuran’s strength was reduced, but it was still difficult to follow for many of the people present.
"That’s...!" Someone exclaimed upon seeing the black needle, a look of horror written all over their face.
"The Immortal grade needle!" Another person shouted in shock.
The red-haired woman, Xu Meng, realised that something was wrong when she heard those words, but it was too late for her to act.
Bam!
The black needle pierced the flaming fan and instantly shattered the phantom image, causing it to disappear into tiny tongues of flame.
The needle didn’t stop there and continued towards Xu Meng, who was behind the phantom image.
"Impossible!" She shouted and tried to move.
Shkk!
The needle passed through her head before she could move. A bloody hole appeared in her forehead as the needle flew around and returned to Feng Shuran’s palm.
Xu Meng’s eyes were wide open even in her death; her flying sword lost her support and she dropped from the sky.
Everyone froze. No one dared to try to catch Xu Meng’s body as she fell, not even the disciples of her formation guild.
They all had their eyes fixed on Feng Shuran and the black needle. They easily recognised it as the Immortal-grade magical treasure from yesterday.
It had just been a day; how did she already refine it and make it accept her as its owner?
It was just not possible; they refused to believe it!
The presence of an Immortal-grade magical treasure instantly changed everything. Even if the invisible killer was still being suppressed by the formation plate, they wouldn’t be able to kill her with that type of treasure in her hand.
There was only one option left for them.
Run!
"Why so quiet all of a sudden? You don’t want to kill me anymore?" Feng Shuran stayed under the magic circle from the formation plate and gazed at the cultivators who had come to kill her.
A cold smile that radiated with bone-chilling killing intent hugged her lips as her crimson eyes roamed their faces.
No one dared to speak; they all looked at the invisible killer in silence, hoping for her not to look in their direction and somehow forget that they were there.
After some seconds, someone flew forward on their flying swords. It was the middle-aged man who had attacked the forcefield with hundreds of sword shadows earlier.
"Hahaha, Invisible Killer, this was all a misunderstanding. We didn’t really mean it like that; please don’t think of it too much." The man said with an apologetic laugh, looking very humble.
Feng Shuran glared in his direction; her crimson eyes seemed to glow for a moment.
The man immediately halted, not daring to move even an inch forward.
"A misunderstanding? You sealed off my home with a formation and used one to reduce my strength; you attacked my barrier with a peak Nascent Soul Realm attack and said you were going to kill me.
Was all of that a misunderstanding?" Feng Shuran said slowly as the needle trembled above her palm.
The face of the man twisted as if he had eaten a bug; the surrounding cultivators had the same expressions. None of them could give a response to Feng Shuran’s words.
Even though many of them were shameless, they weren’t thick-skinned enough to agree that everything was a misunderstanding.
Feng Shuran’s eyes turned and looked at the old man with the hourglass.
"You, don’t you want to seek justice for the Dae Qu sect anymore?" She asked with a deadly look in her eyes, and the black needle moved.
The face of the old man paled when he saw this. He immediately flew backwards while bringing the hourglass that was bigger than his body to the front.
Pa!
He slapped the side of the hourglass with his right palm as the black needle appeared in front of him.
Wooo!
A wave of qi rushed out from his body as the needle stopped as if it was blocked by something hard.
The old man immediately took the chance to fly in a different direction.
The moment he left there, the needle resumed movement and pierced three young disciples who were previously behind the old man.
"Ahh!"
"No!
The disciples screamed in horror as they saw the black light coming, but they were unable to react. Their bodies were pierced, and they fell from the sky, dead.
Meanwhile, a look of surprise appeared on Feng Shuran’s face.
The old man’s hourglass was able to block her needle? How was that possible?
