Chapter 30: Slaughter
"Run!"
No one knew who yelled the word, but the next second, the whole place turned upside down as the disciples from the various sects shot in different directions and started attacking the yellow barrier.
It was hilarious; the barrier was previously set up to make sure that the Invisible Killer would not be able to escape, but now, it had turned into a slaughterhouse for her.
Trapping all of them inside. And more unsettling was that Feng Shuran had killed the person who set up the barrier!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The disciples attacked the barrier relentlessly, desperately trying to break free. But it was of no use; their Foundation Establishment Realm strength could only do as much as cause ripples on the surface of the barrier.
"Thousand Slaughter Stars!" A voice thundered.
Hundreds of sword shadows immediately filled the air before striking at a single point in the barrier.
Boom! Boom! Boom!!
The sounds were deafening, and the entire place trembled, but it still wasn’t enough.
The other Core Formation Realm cultivators had also joined, all attacking a single point in an attempt to escape. But the barrier was proving its worth; it remained unshaken even after enduring thousands of attacks.
"Trying to escape, did I give you permission?" Feng Shuran snorted and immediately activated her cultivation technique.
The next second, five clones of herself appeared beside her.
Feng Shuran took out weapons from her storage treasure and passed to them.
"Kill them!" Feng Shuran ordered, and the clones immediately flew out and went after the disciples who were still trying to break the barrier.
"Argh!!"
"No, please, stop!"
"My arm! My arm!!"
Shortly after the clones appeared, horrified voices resounded through the air. The disciples of the sects were being slaughtered by the clones without being able to resist.
Some even tried running towards the Core Formation Realm cultivators but were swiftly cut down. Feng Shuran’s clones were perfect copies of herself after all. Even if her strength had been reduced, these disciples had no hope of outrunning her.
While the clones took care of the disciples, Feng Shuran went after the Core Formation Realm seniors.
Her first victim was the silver-haired woman who was riding a winged beast.
The woman was attacking a part of the barrier with her beast, causing ripples to spread across the barrier when Feng Shuran appeared behind her.
The woman turned around, and her eyes widened; her pupils trembled as she looked at Feng Shuran’s cold face in fear.
"I-i-i..." she tried to speak, but no words came out of her mouth; she could only stutter.
Feng Shuran looked at her expressionlessly. The two-way mirror was her magical treasure; her master had ordered her to get it.
Was there a difference if she just killed this person and searched her body later? Their corpses would be on the mountain after all.
’So why did Master specifically mention it?’ Feng Shuran thought to herself.
After a few seconds, she said.
"Hand over the two-way mirror and I’ll forget about what happened here today."
A ray of hope appeared in the woman’s eyes when she heard Feng Shuran’s words.
"R-really, you’ll let me go?" She asked.
"Yes," Feng Shuran replied.
The woman stared silently for a moment before speaking again.
"Can you let me go first? I’ll send a disciple to bring..."
"Don’t push your luck!" Feng Shuran didn’t let her finish. She cut the woman off and controlled the needle to fly towards the woman, stopping in front of her face.
The other party instantly broke out in cold sweat. She apologised before taking out the mirror.
After taking it out, she drew blood from her finger and rubbed it on the mirror before muttering something under her breath.
The next second, she suddenly bent forward and coughed up blood while gripping her chest. Her expression showed that she was in pain.
A look of realisation appeared on Feng Shuran’s face, realising the hidden meaning behind Gu Chen’s instruction.
The mirror was a soul-bound magical treasure!
Had she killed this woman right away, the mirror would have been destroyed upon her death.
’Master is really wise,’ she sighed in her heart as she took the mirror from the woman and kept it.
Seeing the invisible killer store the mirror, the silver-haired woman became restless.
"Can...can I go now?" She asked weakly.
Feng Shuran looked at her expressionlessly.
"Even if I wanted to let you go, my Master told me to kill all of you. Remember not to offend the Bloody Rose in your next life." She said, and moved one of her hands.
"!!!" The silver-haired woman was shocked.
’Master? The invisible killer had a Master? Could it be...’ As Gu Chen appeared in her mind, her thoughts were cut short by the needle passing through her head, killing her instantly.
Seeing Feng Shuran kill its master, the winged beast roared in anger before charging at her.
"Pest," Feng Shuran spat and controlled the needle to come back to her, killing the beast on its way.
After dealing with the beast, she didn’t waste time and went towards the next person.
By then, most of the disciples and Foundation Establishment Realm elders had been killed off, less than ten of them were left.
The old man with the hourglass flew near the edges of the barrier, a desperate look on his face.
"Damn bitch, you just had to kill Xu Meng first!" The old man cursed as he flew. Xu Meng was the one who set up the formation that created the barrier. Naturally, she would have been able to undo it if she were still alive.
’Will I have to use it now?’ The old man sighed inwardly as he remembered something; he felt very unwilling.
Just then, he saw someone flying ahead of him. The person was a Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator, so their speed wasn’t faster than the old man’s.
It was the robe that caught his attention.
"An elder from the formation guild!" The old man exclaimed, a hopeful look appearing on his face. He immediately increased his flying speed and quickly caught up with the person.
It was a woman with long red hair like Xu Meng’s.
"You there, stop!" The old man shouted and reached out, carelessly grabbing the woman and pulling her close.
"S-senior, please don’t kill me!" The woman instantly burst into tears. Their guild head wasn’t alive to protect them anymore; naturally, they were wary of the other Core Formation Realm cultivators.
"Tell me, how do you destroy this formation?" The old man asked in a rushed voice.
"I-I don’t know, but if you attack the five main flags, it’ll fall apart." The woman answered truthfully.
The eyes of the old man narrowed; the method sounded too simple.
"Is that all?" He asked, his voice carrying killing intent this time, which spooked the woman.
"I’ll talk, I’ll talk! If you fail and attack any of the other flags instead, the formation will grow stronger!" She quickly added.
The eyes of the old man flashed, and he threw the woman towards the ground with full strength.
"Trying to trick me? Die!" He spat before flying away.
"No, save me!" The woman shouted in horror as she lost control of her body.
Bang!
She slammed into the force field with incredible might and splashed into a bloody mess.
Meanwhile, the old man flew up and quickly reached the level of the spinning flags. Their speed was so fast that he couldn’t make out the shapes of each flag.
Under normal circumstances, it would be impossible to accurately strike the five main flags.
The old man looked around. The entire place was a mess. All of the disciples had been killed, and only a few Core Formation Realm cultivators were still alive; they were being chased by Feng Shuran and her clones.
He couldn’t afford to be hesitant!
Bringing out his hourglass magical treasure, the old man slapped the top and poured qi into it.
Wooo!!!
A strange energy surged from the hourglass and rolled towards the twenty-four flags that were still spinning.
The moment the energy made contact with the flags, they stopped spinning and trembled violently in place.
It was as if something was forcefully holding them in place. But the old man knew that it would only last a few seconds, so immediately the flags stopped spinning, and his eyes landed on the five main flags that Xu Meng had set up personally.
"Shatter!" He shouted and stabbed forward with his fingers.
A qi finger flew out from his hand and shot toward the trembling flags.
Bam!
The qi finger crashed into the five main flags and instantly severed the yellow light connecting them.
At the same time, the force holding the flags in place disappeared, and they resumed spinning.
But because of the qi finger from the old man, instead of spinning normally, all the flags scattered in different directions as they were no longer linked together.
The magic circle in the air dissipated, and the pillars faded.
The formation was undone, and the barrier quickly disappeared!
