Chapter 550

The Aberrants’ eyes began drifting toward Ray as he rocketed forward above them. With each kick of his foot against the air, he accelerated farther ahead, refusing to be derailed, falter, or slow down.

He propelled himself forward with intense force, using the air as his launch platform. His wings couldn’t grant him full flight, and neither could the VMS boots, so he improvised with his Lightning ability and the world around him.

Seeing the human shooting away, a Two-Spined Aberrant moved to intercept him.

Its massive hands lifted into the air, ready to snatch Ray out of the sky, only for ice spikes, crystal spears, two arrows, and a beam from Van to shoot outward.

They didn’t discuss it.

Didn’t think about it, and neither did they plan it.

They simply acted.

Their attacks coalesced into one devastating barrage, moving forward with destructive speed.

WAM!

The combined attacks pierced through the Aberrant’s hands, bursting out the other side as blood exploded into the air and the massive limbs fell limp beside the creature.

Ray was already long gone.

"Focus on us," Raze uttered, pointing toward himself before tilting his head in the direction of the creatures.

Without hesitation, he pounced forward, his speed catastrophic and, at that moment, almost on par with Ray’s.

The cohort followed behind him—slower and nowhere near as fast as Ray, but still moving at an impressive speed as they charged into the horde.

And here, the real battle was beginning.

While over there, something personal was beginning to brew.

Johnny’s drones wasted no time following Ray. They couldn’t catch up to him, but they weren’t far behind either.

Three drones went after him while the rest remained with the cohort, giving the world what they needed to see most.

Gifts flooded the livestream as Bonny repeatedly called out the gifters, giving them shout-outs after thanking them.

Viewer counts climbed.

Subscribers rose as well, especially after the rockslide from earlier had almost crushed them.

Despite not being the ones fighting, humanity still appreciated the fact that these two normal humans, with no fighting capabilities, were risking their lives to cover the event.

Encouraging comments flooded the livestream while Bonny anxiously watched Ray ignore the main mass of Aberrants. The creatures couldn’t even give chase anymore as chaos erupted behind him.

Now that Captain Raze had joined the battle, the entire battlefield was about to crumble.

Meanwhile, Ray zipped forward, his eyes crackling and blazing with Lightning as the Aberrant lifted a brow, confused as to why the human was charging toward him alone.

One thing about these creatures was their annoying resemblance to humans.

Aside from their fur and hard, rocky features, they had strangely humanoid characteristics. This particular Aberrant even had something resembling hair on its head.

It was a different shade and colour from its fur, sitting atop its head like an island on a body of water.

Jet black.

Wavering in the wind.

Soon, Ray wasted no time.

He crash-landed directly in front of the Aberrant with such force that a gale of wind erupted upward, sparks of Lightning fizzing all around him and striking the earth as he slowly lifted himself upright.

With a tired sigh, the towering Aberrant decided to crouch down slightly, its eyes piercing through the cloud of dust a few metres away.

"Hm. You look angry. Why are you angry? Shouldn’t I be the one annoyed that you humans are crashing into our space?"

"...."

Ray straightened himself, his eyes locked onto the dress wrapped around the creature’s neck.

Fury unlike anything he had ever felt before flooded his entire being as killing intent poured from him.

"Huh? No response? You see, I always love to toy with my opponents, and today will be no different, kid. But I want to k—"

"—Your space?" Ray repeated, a tinge of anger entering his voice.

His usual calm, cocky, chill tone was completely gone.

"Huh?"

"Your space? You crashed into our home a year ago and took everything away from me. You took everything away from—!" Ray bellowed, anger crackling in his heart.

The Aberrant tilted his head, confused.

"I don’t even know yo—" His words trailed off as he realised that the human before him had his eyes fixed on his scarf.

The creature looked down at the scarf for a moment before raising his gaze back to the boy. He shrugged.

"A year ago when we attacked, there was a beautiful woman here who I had crushed in my own hands. I had a lot of fun with her because I toyed with her son—watching him scream in pain and fury was so exhilarating."

Ray’s hands clenched so tightly that his nails began shifting into claws, piercing into his palms.

At that moment, the drones arrived.

"...Haha! It was fun watching him grovel and shout after his mum’s body was shattered in my hands. He kept screaming about making me pay. How was a weakling like him even supposed to harm a One-Spined Aberrant like me then?"

Shaking his head, the creature touched the scarf around his neck.

"Well, I loved that fire in his eyes that day, hence I tore this dress from his dead mum’s body and kept it with me as a trophy in case we met again. I hope I meet him soon, especially since I have evolved after that day."

The drones quickly spread out. One remained focused on Ray and the Aberrant, another hovered above them, while the third swiftly moved behind the creature.

Johnny’s eyes stretched wide as he began counting.

One...

Two...

Three.

The Aberrant was now a Three-Spined Aberrant.

"Ahem... you said I took everything from you? What did I tak—?" The creature tilted his head again, but this time, his confusion deepened as he finally realised that the anger flowing from the boy was unnatural.

Especially since his eyes remained fixed on the scarf, refusing to leave it.

’Huh?’

The Aberrant threw his head back for a moment before squinting, his eyes narrowing as he studied the young man before him again and again.

An image of a fifteen-year-old boy appeared directly beside the figure before him.

A powerless, weak boy crying for his mother’s life.

Slowly, the image merged with the young man standing before him.

That was when it clicked.

The scattered pieces finally fell into place.

"Ho-How?!"

It had only been a few months ago when the short human with a lean frame had stood before him without a single shred of power in his body.

Now, he was looking at an athletic young man who looked to be in his early twenties despite being sixteen.

The black hair from before was now silver.

Lightning arced around his body.

Even though it had been months, even with how drastically different he looked, the Aberrant couldn’t make a mistake.

There were facial similarities between the fifteen-year-old boy from before and this fine young man standing before him.

A resemblance that was undeniable.

And it made his heart race in tandem.

Ray slowly tore his gaze away from the scarf and brought it back to the Aberrant’s face. When he spoke, his voice was slow and steady, but a deep growl rumbled beneath every word, as if a beast were slowly awakening within him.

"Not only did you crush my mum in your grasp, you also had the audacity to strip her naked, taking the last dignity she had, and wrap her clothes around your neck?"

"Ho-How-how?!" The Aberrant kept repeating the words, his eyes stretched wide as the sparks surrounding Ray became increasingly erratic.

"...I promised you. I swore vengeance. I swore to find you wherever you are, and here I am. Today, today is the day I make you pay for what you did—"

Ray flickered from view with such speed and force that the ground beneath his feet split apart and was driven backward.

In the next instant, he was directly in front of the Aberrant, his hand stretched forward and clasped around its stunned face.

Lightning continued to fizzle violently around his hand.

"—You mother crusher."

BANG!

BAM!

BOOOM!

The Aberrant’s head was driven backward into the earth.

The terrain shuddered violently as cracks spread outward from the point of impact, dust billowing into the air and rapidly shrouding everything and everyone from view.
