My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 553: Bad to Worse (1)
Chapter 551
"Bo-Bonny? Our viewer counts keep rising by the second," Johnny announced, looking into his glasses with an excited gleam in his eyes.
They had broken through into an entirely new realm of viewership, and all of that was from what had supposedly been a small expedition.
Close...
They were incredibly close to tens of millions of viewers.
Bonny heard him, but she didn’t reply. Her attention remained fixed on the battle playing out through her tablet, her expression carrying a hint of sadness as she watched.
She was more focused on Ray and the Three-Spined Aberrant who had turned out to be the guardian of this section of the Wall.
"Rematch of vengeance. That’s what this is," Bonny whispered as she stared at the sheer anger crackling in Ray’s eyes.
Then, her gaze flickered back toward the squad as another explosion suddenly brought her back to reality.
The others, led by the Captain, had already engaged, and they were going incredibly hard from the very beginning.
No delay.
No hesitation.
Just pure carnage.
BOOOM!
The Wall trembled violently, and huge chunks of infrastructure that had barely remained standing finally crumbled to the earth like an avalanche.
Part of the Wall itself collapsed, sending enormous chunks of earth tumbling toward the ground.
Bonny and Johnny were a few metres away from the Wall, so they weren’t caught in the rockslide, but that didn’t stop both of them from gulping as dread filled their chests.
Johnny immediately used his ability to control the drones, allowing him to slow down the speed at which the squad was moving.
His ability was related to video editing, so he could slow down the footage for the sake of the ordinary people watching at home who couldn’t possibly follow everything happening at normal speed.
But even with the slowed footage, their hearts pounded in tandem at the sheer brutality unfolding before them.
......
The moment the squad lunged forward, the Aberrants that had been running straight toward them suddenly dispersed, attempting to surround the humans from every direction and take them all out at once.
But the moment they tried to do so, earth pillars erupted from the ground with astonishing speed.
They rose from every side and corner as Raze calmly swirled the candy in his lips for a moment.
Several of the Aberrants were nearly impaled by the rising earth pillars, but they reacted quickly, taking enormous steps backward and dodging the pillars.
Alas!
They had dodged the pillars, not the humans.
Kicking off the side of one of the massive pillars, a human blitzed forward, purple crystal running from his shoulders all the way to the tips of his fingers.
The crystal surged and shifted, taking the shape of a greatsword that he hurled forward with all his might.
The air cracked violently as the sword tore through it.
The Aberrant crossed its hands in front of its face just as the crystal greatsword slammed into them with resounding force.
The sheer strength behind the strike forced the creature to lurch backward, its feet dragging across the earth as it gritted its teeth.
Only for a blue-haired female to flash behind it.
Her katana swept forward.
The blade found its mark on the creature’s nape, slicing through it and severing the heart in the same motion.
Booom—!
Boom—!
Boom—!
A chain of explosions rippled outward as Van unleashed a volley of white-hot beams toward the Aberrants, forcing them backward and preventing them from completely enclosing the group.
BANG!
A bulging fist suddenly blurred forward and cracked against an Aberrant’s face, lifting the massive creature completely off the ground before sending it blasting backward.
Felix landed on one of the raised pillars with a heavy huff.
His hands were still bulging like two enormous tree trunks joined together.
For a moment, the Aberrants paused.
They stood unmoving as they stared at the humans, who were now positioned atop the earth pillars that continued rising from beneath them—not only within their immediate vicinity, but across almost the entire section of the Wall.
The One-Spined Aberrants stared at the humans for a moment before taking several giant steps backward.
They were giving way.
Allowing the Two-Spined Aberrants to come forward.
And the moment the Two-Spines stepped ahead, they wasted no time before lunging toward the humans.
A thunderous explosion suddenly erupted in the distance, sending a blanket of dust rippling through the air.
The heads of the One-Spined Aberrants turned toward the source.
Toward where Ray was facing off against the Three-Spined Aberrant.
Without hesitation, without even a single word being spoken, all one hundred One-Spined Aberrants turned around and bolted toward the distant battle.
They were unwilling to face these monsters.
The others were already preparing to give chase, but before they could, the remaining hundred and something Two-Spined Aberrants were already upon them.
A massive knuckle whistled through the air toward Caster, forcing him to suddenly flicker out of view. In the next moment, he reappeared atop the creature’s hand.
The hand was as wide as a rooftop, and it carried both the Legacy and his wolf as they ran side by side, their figures blurring as they rushed toward the Aberrant with every ounce of speed they could muster.
All around them, the Aberrants weren’t coming one by one anymore. They were ganging up on the humans, surrounding them from every possible direction and covering the battlefield so thoroughly that not even a ray of sunlight could reach them.
Each member of the squad had roughly a dozen Aberrants surrounding them, while the others stood farther back, unable to push through because there was simply no space between their massive bodies.
Caster rushed forward, but the hair on the back of his right arm suddenly rose.
His instincts screamed.
Without hesitation, he and his wolf vaulted off the creature’s hand.
A second fist from another Aberrant crashed into the space he had occupied only a moment earlier.
BOOM!
The air almost seemed to collapse in on itself from the sheer force of the punch. A visible tremor rippled through the surrounding air, startling Caster as he twisted in midair.
He spun around almost immediately, bringing his two short swords together and crossing them in front of his face just in time.
Another fist slammed into the crossed blades.
BANG!
Caster’s arms violently vibrated from the impact. His bones rattled beneath the force, his muscles straining as he glared at the Aberrant before him.
The exo-suit instantly tightened around his muscles, reinforcing his body as his teeth clenched tightly.
With a powerful swing, Caster knocked the Aberrant’s hand away before slamming his feet against the air and rocketing toward the creature.
But from the corner of his eyes, he caught sight of more Aberrants rushing toward him.
And it wasn’t just him.
Every single member of the squad was surrounded.
There were enemies coming from every direction, their enormous bodies closing in and leaving less and less room for the Vanguards to maneuver.
The situation had gone from bad to worse in the blink of an eye.
