My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 550: Attack on Abberants (8)
Chapter 548
Parry. Dodge... slide and slice.
Trisha’s movements flowed seamlessly across the battlefield, her pale blue hair whipping through the air without ever interfering with her combat prowess. It was as if her hair had signed a contract not to steal the spotlight, allowing her to remain completely focused on the fight.
Her swordsmanship was beautiful, flowing, and versatile, allowing her to seamlessly combine her techniques with her Ice ability. She was a beautiful destroyer as she cut down Aberrant after Aberrant.
With her King-Rank Katana in hand, these One-Spined nonentities stood no chance against the Ice Queen.
Tilting her head to the side, Trisha watched a claw rake through the air where her head had been. She exhaled slightly, mist seeping from her mouth as she kicked forward.
A dozen ice spikes immediately hurtled toward the creature, but with quick reflexes, the Aberrant crossed its hands in front of its face at the very last moment.
The spikes slammed into its guard with full force, driving the massive creature backward several inches.
Trisha spun and lunged forward with both feet extended.
BAM!
Her legs slammed into the ice spikes and, more importantly, the creature’s guard with enough force to send the Aberrant lurching backward several more feet.
But that wasn’t her intention.
As her feet slammed into its guard, she bent her knees slightly, her boots gearing up before releasing a burst of gas. The sudden propulsion sent her rocketing backward through the air.
Spinning gracefully, Trisha’s sword became coated in ice as she hovered for a fraction of a second.
The sun illuminated her figure, casting her shadow over the Aberrant below.
Her legs came together while her arms spread slightly, sword held firmly in her grasp.
Then, in a blink, she descended.
A flurry of sword strikes tore through the Aberrant’s flesh, blue blood cascading downward in waves as the creature desperately attempted to react. Trisha didn’t stop. She carved through its defenses before smoothly thrusting her blade forward.
The katana plunged deep into its heart.
The Aberrant’s body went rigid before collapsing to the ground with a heavy thud.
Trisha landed directly on its head with feline grace, not even needing to bend her knees to absorb the impact.
Frost immediately crept outward from beneath her feet, covering part of the creature’s head.
Then, with a furious stomp—
CRACK!
She shattered the ice along with half of the Aberrant’s head before pouncing forward, her eyes already fixed on another target.
Alas!
Before she could reach it, something blurred past her, whipping her pale blue hair backward for a moment.
She squinted.
That was when she saw a boy with a pair of short swords in his grasp vaulting through the air.
Beside him was a hulking wolf as large as a car.
The duo attacked the Aberrant without hesitation.
Seeing that they had things under control, Trisha immediately changed her trajectory and dashed toward another Aberrant.
In just the few minutes since they had landed, the group had already cut down dozens of Aberrants.
This section of the Wall had contained roughly three dozen Aberrants, but because of their assault, that number had already been reduced to barely a dozen.
And currently, Ray was surrounded by five Aberrants.
He hovered in the air, his wings keeping him suspended as he glared down at the creatures with murderous intent.
His eyes were still crackling with lightning, the sparks refusing to calm down.
Without hesitation, the five Aberrants pounced at him simultaneously, unleashing a flurry of claw strikes aimed directly at his body.
Ten claws sliced continuously through the air, but Ray remained unfazed.
He danced between them.
None of the attacks even touched a strand of his hair as he weaved through the barrage with blinding speed. His figure constantly flickered in and out of sight, appearing between the claws one moment and vanishing from their path the next, his expression remaining eerily nonchalant despite the fury burning within him.
"You all aren’t what I seek. I need the bastard who crushed my mum!" Ray screamed furiously, his eyes darting across the battlefield.
Even though he was angry, he remained relatively calm.
His eyes constantly searched the battlefield, looking for any sign of the Aberrant he had come for.
If...
If he found out that bastard wasn’t here, he would erase the whole Wall without mercy.
A loud hiss cut through the air as one of the Aberrants thrust a claw toward him.
Ray’s hand snapped forward and caught it in a firm grip.
He held the massive claw in place while the other four Aberrants continued their assault, their remaining claws ripping toward him from different directions.
Then, part of his eyes glowed a bright white for a moment.
[Arc of Judgement activated]
A brilliant white, sword-like beam of pure light suddenly tore from the hand clasped around the Aberrant’s claw. The enormous beam, nearly as large as a greatsword, burst outward in every direction with devastating force.
Before the other claws could even reach him, the beam swept through them.
SHING!
Every claw was severed cleanly in half.
The upper torsos of the Aberrants slid away from their waists as blood erupted into the air like fountains, their massive bodies beginning to collapse beneath Ray.
All around him, blood drifted through the air while Ray remained suspended above the battlefield, his expression cold as his eyes remained fixed on the distance.
Then his head suddenly snapped to the left.
Golden sparks gathered beside him before weaving together into his golden lasso, which materialized in his grasp the very next second.
With a stunning burst of speed, Ray jerked his head upward just as something incredibly heavy and destructive whistled past his face.
The sheer force of the projectile was enough to make the air itself seem to split apart.
Ray’s lasso shot forward.
It wrapped tightly around the projectile and brought its momentum to an abrupt halt.
His arm trembled from the force.
For a brief moment, Ray struggled to hold it in place.
Then he let out a loud howl and spun his entire body around.
With all his strength, he released the lasso.
The projectile rocketed back toward its sender at twice its original speed, tearing through the air with such tremendous force that the sound cracked across the battlefield.
In the distance, an Aberrant stood with its hands held out, a grin spreading across its face as though it had just watched its attack succeed.
Then its expression changed.
Its eyes widened in horror.
The same projectile it had thrown was suddenly flying straight back toward it.
There was no time to react.
BOOM!
The projectile smashed directly into its head, obliterating it in an explosion of blood, gore, and brain matter.
The Aberrant’s massive body trembled for a moment before swaying left and right.
Then it collapsed.
As the body hit the ground, Ray and Raze finally saw what had been standing behind it.
Hundreds.
Then hundreds more.
One-Spined and Two-Spined Aberrants had poured in from the other sections of the Wall, filling the distance with an enormous advancing horde.
Ray’s Perception had been flooding across the entire Wall, allowing him to sense the movements of the creatures long before they arrived. Based on everything he was sensing, these were all the Aberrants remaining inside Wall Rose.
Except one.
One that stood far behind the others.
The entire horde began rushing forward, their massive footsteps shaking the earth beneath them. And from what Ray could see, there were actually more Two-Spined Aberrants among them than One-Spined.
Raze took another huge swig of his coffee.
Then he lowered the cup and let out a quiet sigh.
He had run out of coffee.
"Well, I guess it’s tim—"
Raze suddenly stuttered.
A suffocating killing intent unlike anything they had felt before erupted across the battlefield.
It spread through the entire area like an invisible wave, crushing the atmosphere and forcing everyone to pause for a moment.
The Vanguards had just finished dealing with the Aberrants around them, yet now every single head turned toward Ray.
The Tribrid hovered in the air, completely still.
His gaze was fixed on the far distance.
Far beyond the enormous line of advancing Aberrants, at the very end of the battlefield, stood a single Aberrant.
Ray’s eyes locked onto it.
He had found him.
"Found you."
The words left Ray’s lips in a quiet mutter as his eyes glowed red with anger.
