My Taming System Makes Me Overpowered
Chapter 273: The council of echoes
The domestic peace of the high observation dome dissolved as the celestial-jade citadel glided smoothly across the final threshold of the Progenitor domain.
The soft fragrances of crushed star-lilies and warm moon-nectar that had lulled the harem into relaxed intimacy were slowly superseded by a cold, sterile vacuum pressure. Out beyond the transparent hull, the familiar tapestry of deep-space constellations dissolved entirely. There were no lower stars here, no regional ley-lines, and no drifting nebulae. The void had been stripped bare, reduced to an absolute, motionless abyss where even the concept of spatial distance felt artificially imposed.
Before them stood the Inner Sanctum of the Council of Echoes.
It was not a physical fortress built of stone or star-metal, but a colossal, floating sphere of absolute mirror-glass, suspended within a static void where time and space ceased to flow. Reflected across its flawless, polished surface were billions of alternate realities—every universe, timeline, and civilization that had ever been born, pruned, or forgotten by the creator-deities. Cascading streams of light flickered across the curved glass like infinite mortal memories, recording the birth of suns and the quiet death of ancient pantheons in a single, unyielding loop.
High on the central command bridge, the atmosphere had shifted from intimate warmth to razor-sharp anticipation. The soft silk cushions and relaxed postures of the previous hours vanished, replaced by the instinctual discipline of a vanguard that had broken every boundary set before them.
Vince sat upon his obsidian throne, his dark velvet cloak cascading over the carved armrests. His dark tunic hung slightly open at the collar, exposing the relaxed, powerful lines of his chest, while his dark amethyst eyes remained fixed unblinkingly on the giant mirror-sphere. The absolute domain radiating from his body wrapped around the citadel like a heavy, suffocating shroud of purple-black twilight, anchoring the vessel in a reality that obeyed no outside architect.
Beside him, Elena stood with her administrative slate active, her golden eyes reviewing the cascading telemetry streams with clinical precision. Her silver coat was once again buttoned high against her neck, though a faint, lingering softness remained in her expression when her eyes briefly brushed Vince’s shoulder.
"We have reached the absolute center of the Progenitor grid," Elena announced, her voice crisp and steady against the low hum of the ship’s primary drive. "No further data paths exist beyond this point. Every regional array, every temporal anchor, and every archive we have subjugated originates from this singular node. This is the root."
"Good," Vetra grinned, standing near the forward viewport with her heavy dark-iron broadsword resting casually across her shoulder. She rolled her neck, her scales glinting under the pale light as her crimson-gold dragon eyes glittered with unsuppressed battle-hunger. "Let’s smash the looking glass and see who’s hiding behind it. I’m sick of looking at reflections."
Lyrielle stepped up to the edge of the dais, her silver hair shimmering softly as she notched a glowing arrow of moon-light into her elder-wood bow. Her violet eyes scanned the surface of the mirror-sphere, picking up the faint metaphysical threads connecting the structure to the vast void around them. "The barrier is denser than the Chronos Spire. It doesn’t just block physical entry; it reflects incoming intent back onto the attacker."
Solaria stood close to the throne on Vince’s right, her crimson imperial tunic catching the ambient starlight, and the twilight amethyst mark over her chest glowing with steady, unwavering devotion. Her posture was straight, her hands resting lightly on the hilt of her solar blade.
"The Council of Echoes..." Solaria murmured softly, her golden eyes burning with fierce loyalty. "For ten millennia, the higher priests of the Solari Dominion whispered that these entities were the voices of the universe itself—the ultimate judges who decided which realms deserved to exist and which were slated for purgation. Let us hear how they sound when they break."
Before anyone else could speak, the massive mirror-sphere of the Inner Sanctum rippled like liquid mercury.
CHIME—
A sound of pure, crystalline resonance echoed across the void—not through the air, but directly into the origin matrix of every soul present. It wasn’t a single voice, but a collective, layered harmony of a thousand ancient creator-deities speaking as one, carrying a weight meant to force mortal consciousness onto its knees.
"UNREGISTERED SOVEREIGN," the Council echoed, their collective presence projecting terrifying waves of cosmic authority that caused the citadel’s defensive barriers to flare in brilliant sheets of violet light. "YOU HAVE TRANSCENDED THE CONTAINER REALMS, SUBJUGATED THE VANGUARD, SEIZED THE ARCHIVES, AND BROKEN THE CHRONOS SPIRE. YOU STAND AT THE TEMPORAL APEX OF LOWER EXISTENCE. YET YOU REMAIN AN ANOMALY—A FOREIGN SEED THAT THREATENS TO UNMAKE THE ENTIRE TAPESTRY."
The mirror-surface parted, folding back in flawless, geometric ribbons. Three towering, formless entities stepped out into the void, floating above the static abyss. They possessed no biological bodies, appearing instead as colossal pillars woven from swirling starlight, ancient running scriptures, and unblemished golden light, radiating an aura of absolute, untouchable supremacy.
"SURRENDER YOUR ABSOLUTE DOMAIN," the Council demanded, their collective voice shaking the very fabric of the sector and causing the space around the citadel to fracture into grey entropy dust. "ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE RE-INDEXED INTO THE ROOT OF CREATION, OR WATCH AS EVERY REALM YOU HAVE CONQUERED IS COLLAPSED INTO NOTHINGNESS."
Barnaby shivered slightly, curling closer against Vince’s side on the throne. Her translucent golden fingers tightened around the fabric of his dark velvet cloak, though her 100% bloomed Lotus Core hummed with a defiant, glowing warmth against his chest that completely repelled the entity’s psychic pressure.
"They talk too much, Vince," Barnaby muttered, puffing out her cheeks as she glared at the floating pillars of light. "They’re loud, and their light is annoying."
Vince didn’t flinch. He didn’t shift his posture, nor did he offer the Council the courtesy of an explanation. He simply raised his right hand, his long, warm fingers curling into a slow, relaxed fist as his absolute domain exploded outward with the sudden, crushing force of a collapsing sun.
The purple-black twilight expanded from the citadel in a massive, sweeping wave, instantly snuffing out the grey entropy dust and overwriting the static laws of the static void. The crystalline resonance of the Council’s collective voice stuttered, fractured, and died against the sheer, suffocating weight of Vince’s presence.
"You call yourselves the Council of Echoes," Vince spoke softly, his deep velvet baritone carrying an absolute, crushing weight that completely drowned out the collective harmony of the creator-deities. "You sit in a room of mirrors, admiring blueprints you no longer have the strength to enforce, and call yourselves gods. You are nothing more than ghosts trying to dictate terms to the living."
Vince stood slowly from his obsidian throne.
His dark velvet cloak billowed behind him as he stepped down to the center of the command bridge. The dark amethyst glow in his eyes burned with dark, undisputed dominion—a gaze that looked through the towering pillars of starlight and saw only raw origin energy waiting to be claimed.
"Vetra, Lyrielle, Solaria—take the vanguard positions," Vince commanded smoothly, his voice ringing across the bridge with absolute finality. "Elena, lock the targeting coordinates onto their central root matrix. Let’s teach these echoes how to be silent."
