My Taming System Makes Me Overpowered

Chapter 272: sanctuary of twilight whispers

With the Chronos Spire shattered and its temporal locks dismantled, the celestial-jade citadel drifted in absolute peace upon an open sea of calm, twilight-tinted space. Far ahead, the shimmering dimensional barrier of the Council of Echoes’ Inner Sanctum pulsed softly like a distant silver star, waiting for its ultimate sovereign to claim it.

For the first time since breaking out of the Primordial Firmament, there were no incoming purgation fleets, no world-shattering hammers, and no recursive temporal traps. The sector was quiet, compliant, and wholly subjugated.

Inside the high observation dome of the citadel’s primary living suite, the air was warm, rich, and thick with the fragrance of crushed star-lilies and sweet moon-nectar. Massive glass viewports looked out into the soft purple nebulae, casting gentle, shimmering reflections across the polished obsidian floors and sprawling velvet daybeds.

Vince reclined back against a mountain of plush silk cushions, his broad shoulders relaxed and his dark velvet cloak unclasped. His dark tunic hung loosely open, revealing his chest and the dark, rhythmic pulse of his absolute domain hummed in harmony with the citadel itself.

Barnaby was sprawled across his chest like a small, silver-haired shadow, her cheek pressed over his heart while her Lotus Core emitted a steady, hypnotic purr of contentment. Vince’s hand rested comfortably on her back, his fingers idly stroking her soft hair.

Beside him lay Vetra, resting her heavy, scale-dusted shoulder against his hip. She had stripped off her dark-iron armor, wearing only her soft training garments. Her crimson-gold dragon eyes were half-lidded, reflecting the serene violet starlight outside.

"I could get used to this kind of victory," Vetra murmured lazily, her voice low and husky as she stretched out her long, toned legs. "No screams, no dying star-gods... just peace, good wine, and you, Vince."

"It is peaceful because Vince made it so," Lyrielle spoke softly from the head of the daybed.

The elven crown princess was kneeling behind Vince, her slender fingers gently massaging the tension from his shoulders. Her silver hair fell like liquid moonlight over her bare shoulders, and her violet eyes shone with unshakeable tenderness as she leaned down, pressing a soft, lingering kiss behind his ear.

Solaria sat on the velvet rug at Vince’s feet, her translucent silver silk gown pooled around her knees. In her hands, she held a crystal bowl of rare, chilled star-berries. With delicate, reverent grace, she picked one up and offered it up to Vince’s lips.

Vince leaned down slightly, accepting the sweet, icy fruit from her fingers, his dark amethyst eyes locking onto hers. Solaria flushed a breathtaking crimson under his heavy gaze, a small, involuntary shiver running down her spine as the twilight seal over her heart pulsed with warm, liquid fire.

"You are thoughtful tonight, Solaria," Vince noted smoothly, his velvet baritone rumbling through his chest, making Barnaby let out a small, sleepy sigh in her bliss.

"I was only... remembering where I was a few months ago," Solaria whispered softly, her golden eyes filled with absolute, worshipful devotion. "I was terrified of my father’s wrath, terrified of the Firmament’s collapse, and trapped in an endless cycle of political duty. Now... I sit in the heart of the Progenitor realms, wrapped in your shadow, lacking for nothing."

She placed her hand gently over his knee, leaning her forehead against his leg. "You didn’t just conquer my realm, Vince. You gave my existence meaning."

"Your existence belonged to me the moment you surrendered your core," Vince reminded her softly, reaching down to cup her chin and lift her face toward his. "And I don’t give away what is mine."

Solaria’s lips parted in a soft gasp as Vince pulled her up onto the bed beside him, capturing her mouth in a slow, deep, possessive kiss that made her world spin. Her hands clutched instinctively at his open tunic, clinging to him as if he were the only solid anchor in the entire cosmos—which, to her, he truly was.

The door to the observation suite slid open with a quiet, smooth hiss.

Elena walked in, stepping off her formal administrative boots at the threshold. Her usual crisp silver coat was gone, leaving her in a sleek, sapphire silk slip that draped elegantly down her slender form. Her silver hair cascaded down her back in loose, silky waves, free from its usual tight bun.

"Is the command deck secure, Elena?" Vince asked, releasing Solaria’s breathless lips as his dark gaze shifted toward his chief administrator.

"The automated pathing to the Council’s sanctum is locked," Elena replied smoothly, stepping onto the plush velvet bedding and kneeling comfortably by Vince’s side. Her golden eyes were warm, devoid of their usual clinical calculation. "The regional arrays are processing the energy from the Chronos Spire, and I have delegated all secondary sector monitoring to the automated sub-routines."

"In other words," Vetra grinned, reaching over to pull Elena down into the silk cushions beside her, "the ultimate administrator is officially off the clock."

Elena let out a soft, rare chuckle, allowing herself to melt into the warmth of the harem gathered around their sovereign. She rested her head against Vince’s bare shoulder, her hand coming to rest over his chest alongside Barnaby’s.

"I am off the clock," Elena murmured, her golden eyes closing in absolute tranquility. "Because my sovereign has already won the war before it has even begun."

Vince looked at the women surrounding him—Barnaby snoring softly against his neck, Vetra purring comfortably beside his hip, Lyrielle stroking his brow with gentle love, Solaria holding his hand with fierce devotion, and Elena resting peacefully against his chest.

He didn’t just rule an empire of stars; he held the absolute, unconditional love of the most powerful women in existence.

Vince closed his eyes, his dark velvet cloak wrapping around them like an impenetrable cocoon of twilight power as the citadel carried them smoothly toward the final battlefield.

"Rest well," Vince whispered into the quiet, starlit room, his voice an absolute promise that echoed into the eternal dark. "Tomorrow, we shatter the Council of Echoes—and take the crown of creation."
