My Taming System Makes Me Overpowered

Chapter 271: Breaking the Chronos spire

  • Next Chapter

The celestial-jade citadel glided effortlessly away from the roaring inferno of the conquered Forge of First Light, its hull now humming with an even deeper, more resonant vibration as millions of stellar blueprints and raw origin cores fed continuously into its expanding engines.

High upon the central command deck, Elena stood before her cascading holographic arrays, her golden eyes tracing complex webs of light that mapped the hidden sectors of the Progenitor domain.

"Temporal anomalies detected three sectors ahead," Elena announced, her crisp voice cutting smoothly through the quiet hum of the bridge. "We are approaching the Chronos Spire—the central temporal anchor of the Progenitor Council. According to the archives we extracted from the First Dawn, this structure regulates the timeline flow and causality loops across all connected lower realms."

Vetra, standing casually near the forward viewing glass with her dark-iron broadsword slung over her shoulder, let out a sharp, amused snort. "A temporal anchor? What are they going to do, try to age us to death before we reach them?"

"Not age us, Vetra," Lyrielle murmured softly, stepping up beside the dragon-kin enforcer with her elder-wood bow resting in her hand. Her violet eyes reflected the swirling silver-blue mists gathering in the distance. "Temporal anchors in progenitor space are designed to trap intruders in infinite recursive loops—forcing minds to relive their greatest failures or unmaking their existence before they ever stepped foot in the void."

Solaria stepped forward from the side of Vince’s throne, her crimson imperial tunic rustling softly. The twilight amethyst mark over her chest pulsed with a warm, steady glow, perfectly insulating her mind against external psychological manipulation.

"In the old days, the Solari priesthood whispered legends of the Chronos Spire," Solaria noted, her golden eyes fixed on the towering, crystalline needle piercing the void ahead. "They believed it was the axis mundi of the universe—unreachable by any mortal force."

"Nothing is unreachable when the sovereign decides to walk through it," Vince spoke smoothly from his obsidian throne.

He sat reclined, his dark velvet cloak draped over the broad back of the seat, his dark amethyst eyes fixed on the distant spire. Barnaby rested comfortably in his lap, her 100% bloomed Lotus Core humming with a soothing, protective vibration that kept the ambient temporal distortion completely at bay.

As the celestial-jade citadel closed the distance, the Chronos Spire came into full, staggering view.

It was a colossal, multi-tiered monolith of transparent chronite glass that twisted upward like a frozen bolt of lightning, millions of miles high. Strange, ghostly images of shifting galaxies, collapsing stars, and alternate timelines flickered across its faceted surface like a million trapped memories.

Suddenly, the spire flared with a blinding silver-blue glare.

A wave of absolute temporal static swept across the void, washing over the citadel’s defensive barriers. The ship’s automated systems flickered as the timeline loops attempted to latch onto the crew’s origin matrices, trying to drag them into a simulated past.

"WARNING," a cold, echoing synthetic voice resonated directly across the sector. "TEMPORAL ANOMALY DETECTED. INTRUDERS ARE EXPERIENCING CAUSALITY CORRUPTION. PREPARING REWRITE PROTOCOL."

"The spire is trying to rewrite our entry point," Elena observed calmly, her fingers flying across her slate as she effortlessly isolated the citadel’s core matrix from the temporal feedback. "Our timeline remains absolute, anchored entirely by Vince’s domain."

"They’re trying to play with time because they know they can’t beat us in a fair fight," Vetra grinned, her crimson dragon-eyes flashing with eager combat hunger. "Let’s go smash their clock, Vince."

Vince leaned back slightly, a dark, velvet smirk playing on his lips. "Take the strike shuttle, Vetra, Solaria. Break the temporal anchors at the base of the spire. Let’s see how much time they have left once we shatter their core."

"With pleasure!" Vetra shouted, turning on her heel and marching toward the hangar bay.

Solaria bowed low to her sovereign, her golden eyes burning with fierce loyalty. "We will clear the path, Sovereign Vince."

Moments later, the sleek strike shuttle launched from the belly of the citadel, cutting through the swirling silver-blue temporal mists like a razor of pure light. The temporal distortion grew heavier as they approached the base of the spire, projecting phantom echoes of past battles and defeated enemies across their flight path.

"Ignore the illusions!" Solaria called out over the cockpit comms, channeling her purified solar aura through the shuttle’s guidance systems to burn away the swirling silver mist. "They are nothing more than ghost data!"

"Watch this!" Vetra laughed, banking the shuttle hard and slamming the manual thrusters down to maximum.

Instead of dodging the massive crystalline anchor struts at the base of the spire, Vetra plowed the shuttle straight into the outer barrier. The impact was cushioned instantly by Solaria’s brilliant solar shield, converting the kinetic shockwave into a blinding explosion of golden light that shattered the primary chronite support strut.

CRACK— SHATTER—

The immense crystalline pillar fractured from top to bottom, sending cascading shockwaves of blue light up the entire length of the monolith.

"Anchor one is down!" Lyrielle announced from the co-pilot seat, her elder-wood bow already drawn. With a swift release, three moon-light arrows screamed through the shattered gap, striking the secondary temporal nodes with absolute precision.

BOOM—

The base of the Chronos Spire groaned in structural agony as the timeline loops collapsed inward upon themselves.

From the shattered apex of the monolith, a towering entity materialized—the Temporal Warden. Composed of shifting glass rings and glowing silver gears, it possessed no physical body, only a massive, central hourglass that burned with trapped stellar fire.

"AUDACIOUS MORTALS!" the Warden’s voice boomed across the sector, carrying a wave of temporal pressure that distorted the very air around the shuttle. "YOU DARE INTERRUPT THE CAUSALITY OF THE PROGENITOR REALMS? I SHALL UNMAKE YOUR BIRTH AND ERASE YOUR FUTURES!"

The Warden raised its massive hands, spinning the central hourglass in reverse to trigger a localized temporal collapse aimed directly at Vetra and Solaria’s shuttle.

"Unmake us?" Vetra scoffed, kicking open the shuttle’s airlock and vaulting straight out into the silver-blue vacuum with her heavy dark-iron broadsword in hand. "I’d like to see you try!"

Channeling the absolute twilight authority of Vince’s domain that burned within her dragon-kin origin matrix, Vetra’s broadsword ignited in a massive, roaring pillar of crimson-gold draconic fire. She descended upon the Temporal Warden like a meteor.

"And you will go no further!" Solaria cried out, following closely behind Vetra. Her solar blade blazed with brilliant, purifying golden light as she unleashed a concentrated beam of solar energy directly into the Warden’s rotating glass rings.

The combination of draconic fury and unyielding solar authority struck the Temporal Warden simultaneously.

The entity’s reverse-causality spell hit the girls’ barrier, surged against the unyielding protection of Vince’s domain, and instantly shattered back into the Warden’s own core.

CRACK— ROAR—

The central hourglass fractured down the middle, spilling trapped stellar fire across the void. The shifting glass rings of the Warden’s body locked up, stuttered, and exploded into millions of harmless crystal shards that drifted away into the dark.

"Chronos Spire core neutralized," Lyrielle reported smoothly over the comms, lowering her bow as she watched the massive monolith grind to a permanent, smoking halt.

Back on the bridge of the celestial-jade citadel, Vince watched the spire fall silent through the forward viewport. Barnaby cheered happily, clapping her hands together as she snuggled closer against his chest.

"They broke the big clock tower, Vince!" Barnaby beamed.

Vince pulled her closer, his dark amethyst eyes shining with absolute, unyielding power as he surveyed the open path stretching out toward the heart of the Progenitor realms.

"The timeline of this cosmos now flows exactly where I command it," Vince murmured, his velvet baritone echoing through the ship. "Elena, set a direct course for the Progenitor Council’s inner sanctum. The final gate is open."
