My Taming System Makes Me Overpowered
Chapter 233: The primordial decree
The ruins of the grand crystal court resembled a forgotten tomb floating amidst a starless, violet-tinged void.
Where grand white-gold marble pillars had once stood to commemorate six thousand years of unbroken celestial rule, only jagged stone stumps remained. A thick haze of sparkling, golden crystal dust drifted slowly through the air, settling like fallen snow over the ruined steps of the central dais. High above, the Obelisk of Absolute Law was no longer a glowing monument of divine order; two massive, gaping chasms ran down its face, leaking amber energy that hissed like acid as it touched the cold void.
Two pillars were dead. Two Sovereigns unwritten.
Vince stood on the upper steps of the dais, his dark coat dusted lightly with glittering crystal specks. His breathing remained completely untroubled, his dark hair shifting subtly as the ambient spatial pressure of the realm continued to implode around him. Beside his left shoulder, Barnaby hovered with her arms tucked loosely behind her back, her glowing golden eyes fixed on the remaining four rulers with an expression of quiet, mocking boredom.
"Their foundation is completely shattered, Vince," Barnaby noted, her melodic voice carrying effortlessly across the silent court. "Without the Sovereign of Iron to anchor physical mass and the Sovereign of Displacement to stabilize spatial vectors, the Obelisk is holding on by sheer momentum. They have no moves left."
On the highest tier of the dais, the four surviving figures—the Sovereign of Stasis, the Sovereign of Flame, the Sovereign of Void, and the Lead Sovereign—backed toward the base of the cracking Obelisk. Their long, ornate robes were stained with grey ash and golden debris. The ivory masks concealing their faces flickered erratically, casting unstable shadows across their trembling shoulders.
"Stasis... Flame... Void..." the Lead Sovereign spoke, his voice no longer booming with artificial divine resonance. It was thin, ragged, and laced with absolute, desperate panic. "Draw upon the Obelisk’s core reservoir! Initiate the Primordial Reset Protocol!"
The Sovereign of Stasis stumbled back, her cracked mask splitting further to reveal wide, bloodshot eyes beneath. "A reset?! My Lord, activating the core protocol will consume the upper realm! It will incinerate the lower province! It will erase everything within ten thousand miles!"
"Do you think he intends to leave any of us alive?!" the Lead Sovereign shrieked, pointing a trembling, gaunt hand at Vince. "He is not here to negotiate or subjugate! He is severing the laws! If we do not burn this realm to ash and drag him into the void with us, we will all be unwritten!"
The three subordinate Sovereigns froze for a fraction of a second, looking at Vince’s calm, unmoving form.
They saw no mercy in his deep amethyst gaze. They saw no hesitation, no arrogance, and no anger. They saw only the cold, absolute certainty of an apex predator executing an inevitable sentence.
"May the Obelisk preserve our souls," the Sovereign of Flame whispered softly.
The four remaining rulers slammed their open palms directly onto the fractured base of the golden Obelisk.
THUM-THUM-THUM-THUM—!
The entire Hold of Absolute Law shook violently.
The two giant cracks splitting the Obelisk flared with a blinding, apocalyptic crimson light. The remaining four celestial pillars surrounding the court shattered simultaneously, exploding into massive shockwaves of raw, unstable divine energy. A terrifying, high-pitched screech echoed through the sub-dimensional space as the Obelisk’s core reservoir—accumulated over six millennia of lower-realm extraction—was forcibly inverted.
A massive, sweeping sphere of pure crimson erasure expanded outward from the Obelisk, swallowing the dais, the broken thrones, and the ruined marble walls in a matter of milliseconds.
"Primordial Reset: Absolute Nullification!" the Lead Sovereign roared, his voice drowned out by the thunderous roar of collapsing reality.
The crimson wave rushed toward Vince like a wall of liquid fire, vaporizing physical matter, spatial dimensions, and elemental laws alike. It was a suicidal, realm-wide detonation designed to reduce everything—the Hold, the Sanctum, and the lower province—into unformed, chaotic void.
Barnaby’s eyes narrowed slightly. "They’re attempting a mutual destruction protocol. If that energy touches the lower realm’s boundary, it will tear open a permanent spatial tear that will swallow the province."
"It won’t reach the boundary," Vince said.
He took a single, deliberate step forward into the path of the oncoming crimson wall.
Vince didn’t draw a sword. He didn’t construct an energy barrier. He didn’t even channel his amethyst aura to clash against the wave.
Instead, he closed his eyes and unleashed his Inward Absolute Domain to its absolute, unhindered peak. He stopped holding back the remaining threads of his mortal alignment. He stopped accommodating the realm’s existing structure entirely.
He asserted his existence as the supreme, sole authority of the space.
"I am the source," Vince’s voice echoed—not through the air, not inside their minds, but directly through the foundational fabric of the universe itself. "And my presence is the law."
SHWWWWWW—!
The three-hundred-foot wave of roaring crimson erasure stopped dead in mid-air, inches from Vince’s outstretched palm.
The blinding light didn’t detonate. The violent heat didn’t radiate. The catastrophic shockwaves driving the wave forward froze instantly, turning into static, crimson crystals suspended in mid-air like frozen drops of blood.
The Lead Sovereign’s eyes bulged behind his ivory mask. "What... what did you do?! The core reservoir is detonating! It cannot be stopped!"
"You built your absolute law on a pedestal of borrowed authority," Vince said, opening his eyes. His pupils were no longer merely glowing amethyst; they were twin pools of boundless, velvet darkness, speckled with shimmering gold and silver filigree that mirrored the infinite cosmos. "You thought because you held the Obelisk, you were the authors of reality. But an author doesn’t ask the paper for permission to strike out a line."
Vince slowly closed his right hand into a loose fist.
"Rank Severance: Primordial Erasure."
CLINK.
The sound was not a sharp snap. It was a deep, resonant chime that echoed across every plane, every dimension, and every lower-realm province simultaneously.
The frozen wall of crimson erasure turned grey.
Starting from the air directly in front of Vince’s knuckles, a sweeping wave of dark, liquid-gold force washed over the entire court. It didn’t burn or shatter the environment; it simply removed the classification of the Sovereigns’ divine authority from the universe’s index.
The crimson energy wave dissolved into harmless, sparkling dust that fell like rain.
The Sovereign of Stasis, the Sovereign of Flame, and the Sovereign of Void let out short, breathless gasps as their ivory masks shattered into grey powder. Their elaborate, golden robes faded into dull, ragged cloth, and their glowing celestial cores withered into cold, inert cinders inside their chests.
"My... my rank..." the Sovereign of Stasis whimpered, looking down at her withered, mortal hands. "It’s... gone..."
Before they could even fall to their knees, their physical bodies broke apart into fine grey ash, carried away by the gentle, dark wind sweeping through Vince’s domain.
The Lead Sovereign stumbled backward, crashing against the base of the Obelisk. His mask was gone, revealing the pale, terrified face of an ancient, frail old man. He clutched his chest, gasping for air as his divine authority drained away like water through a sieve.
"You... what are you...?" the Lead Sovereign choked out, tears of terror streaming down his wrinkled face. "No mortal... no god can command such power... Who gave you this authority?!"
Vince stepped up to the highest tier of the dais, stopping directly in front of the kneeling ruler. He looked down at him with an expression of quiet, absolute detachment.
"No one gave it to me," Vince said softly. "I took it."
Vince reached out and lightly tapped the center of the giant golden Obelisk behind the Lead Sovereign.
CRACK-SHATTER—!
The massive, six-thousand-year-old Obelisk of Absolute Law did not collapse into rubble. The moment Vince’s fingers touched its surface, the entire monolith lost its golden luster, turning into a towering pillar of dark, rusted iron. Then, with a single, sweeping sigh of collapsing force, the giant structure disintegrated into a mountain of grey dust that cascaded down over the Lead Sovereign’s shoulders.
The Lead Sovereign let out one final, terrified sob before his own body dissolved, turning into ash that mixed seamlessly with the ruined remains of his monument.
Silence returned to the Hold of Absolute Law.
The starless void above slowly cleared, revealing a brilliant, sprawling cosmos of vibrant amethyst stars and shimmering silver nebulae. The oppressive, heavy weight that had hung over the Upper Realm for millennia was completely gone, replaced by a deep, serene atmosphere that flowed freely through the open sky.
Barnaby floated down beside Vince, her translucent dress fluttering in the soft, cosmic breeze. She looked around at the empty, star-lit expanse where the Six Sovereigns had once ruled, a breathless, radiant smile spreading across her ethereal face.
"It’s done," Barnaby whispered, her golden eyes shining as she looked up at him. "The hierarchy is dismantled. The Obelisk is no more."
Vince stood in the center of the dark, star-lit void, his coat settling against his legs as he looked out across the boundless sky. Deep within his soul, the silver filigree and golden lattice woven into his core pulsed with a warm, steady rhythm, carrying the quiet, joyful laughter of Elena and Vetra from the Sanctum below.
His ascension was complete. The Six Sovereigns were unwritten.
Vince turned his dark amethyst gaze toward the horizon, a calm, subtle smirk touching his lips as he looked out over the endless realms waiting beneath his quiet, unquestioned rule.
"Now," Vince said smoothly, "the world runs on my time."
