Chapter 366: Chapter 366: The Post

After a quick scan of the posts, Heath Hale immediately made an assessment.

This Aaron Nash was constantly testing the boundaries of the law.

He knew exactly how far he could go; any further and he’d be arrested, so he was always very careful.

And this definitely wasn’t his first time.

He must have done this before, but the other parties probably didn’t press the issue.

The only time he went a little too far was when he knocked on the door in the middle of the night.

His knocking was a form of harassment and retaliation, and creating noise without reason was already an illegal act.

It was impossible to know if Aaron Nash simply wanted to wake them up as payback, or if he had something more sinister in mind.

Fortunately, the woman’s boyfriend was there that day, which prevented the situation from escalating.

The other posts were more or less the same: soft-hearted women living alone being harassed by Aaron Nash.

But the other few posts about this Mr. Wallace were rather intriguing.

This was a high school tutoring and admissions consulting agency. Brightway Admissions claimed that all its hired teachers were graduates of various top-tier universities and guaranteed comprehensive tutoring for children.

If needed, they could also provide guidance on college applications, and while they couldn’t promise a one-hundred-percent success rate, they claimed at least eighty percent.

For parents who desperately wanted their children to succeed, that success rate was very tempting.

So, this Brightway Admissions was quite famous in the area.

And Mr. Wallace was one of the more popular teachers at this agency.

He was young and handsome, and his lectures were witty and humorous. He could break down difficult concepts and explain them simply to students, earning him an excellent reputation among some students and parents.

Therefore, some parents who heard rumors and were thinking of enrolling their children would post online to ask about the situation when they were unsure.

What made these posts intriguing were some of the comments left in the replies.

The comment that most caught Zoe Sawyer’s and Heath Hale’s attention was from a user with a default profile picture and name. It said: Boys can go, but girls had better not.

It was a simple sentence. Even when people replied asking for the reason, the user never answered.

’Could this Mr. Wallace be preying on female students?’ All sorts of terrible images flashed through Zoe Sawyer’s mind.

Leaving such a specific warning in that comment section made it hard not to be suspicious.

"Liam, get an official request for assistance from the chief, then contact the liaison for this platform and have them cooperate by sending you this user’s information," Heath Hale said, making a swift decision after staring at the comment for a few seconds.

If the police made contact without confirming the person’s identity, it would be easy to tip them off.

So, Heath Hale preferred to take the more troublesome route of obtaining the user’s information through the platform before considering their next move.

"Got it!"

Officer Lee didn’t waste any time after receiving his assignment. He went to the chief and got the written authorization.

Because of the special nature of Zoe Sawyer’s abilities, the procedures for her cases were often fast-tracked, which was why Officer Lee was able to obtain the document in the shortest possible time.

After getting the authorization, Officer Lee immediately found the platform’s designated security contact, presented his credentials, and showed them the request for assistance.

Once the platform confirmed everything was authentic, Officer Lee stated his request.

In less than ten minutes, he had the personal information of the user who left the comment.

"The user’s name is Jane Carter, forty-two years old, and she has twin daughters.

The two children should be of school age, but they’re currently withdrawn from school and staying home. I also found records of them seeing a psychologist.

Jane Carter has another account where the content is all about condemning this Mr. Wallace, or cursing herself for being stupid and finding a ’bad seed’ who ruined her daughters’ lives.

These posts were published intermittently, but judging by the timeline, it’s been going on for about a year." Officer Lee briefly summarized the information he had found on Jane Carter.

Listening to Officer Lee’s summary, Heath Hale couldn’t help but frown. "It seems this Jane Carter is the one with the information.

But what exactly did this Mr. Wallace do? To make a mother hold a grudge for so long?"

He had a feeling that if Jane Carter cooperated with the questioning and told them what she knew, and if they could find the body of the man in work clothes, then this case would be more or less solved.

"Coach Hale, what should we do now?" Officer Lee asked, looking at Heath Hale beside him.

Heath Hale quickly glanced at the information on Jane Carter, including her current address, and said, "We’ll head over there, too."

Some things couldn’t be clarified over the phone; they needed to meet face-to-face.

Wasting no time, Zoe Sawyer and the team quickly gathered their things and caught the next high-speed train.

By the time they arrived near Jane Carter’s residential complex, it was already past six in the evening.

Just as he ended his call with Evan Keller, Heath Hale was about to lead Zoe Sawyer and the others into the complex when someone suddenly tugged on his sleeve.

"What is it?" Heath Hale asked, looking at Zoe Sawyer, who was holding his sleeve.

Zoe Sawyer pointed toward the northwest corner and whispered, "Over there. That man in the black mask. His side profile and build look a lot like Mr. Wallace."

Heath Hale followed her gaze and immediately spotted the person she was talking about.

To be fair, the resemblance was uncanny.

"Ignore him for now. Let’s go to Jane Carter’s place first and figure out what this Mr. Wallace and that comment are all about." Heath Hale nonchalantly withdrew his gaze before the man could look their way.

The man in question glanced back, a little confused, but didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

There were just a few police officers standing at the entrance to the complex, but they didn’t come in. They were probably just passing through.

The man scanned the area once more, and after confirming there was nothing unusual, he left, feeling relieved.

The moment he left, Zoe Sawyer and the others headed toward Jane Carter’s home.

DING-DONG.

The doorbell rang, and soon, a set of hurried footsteps could be heard from inside.

The door opened, and a tired female voice followed. "Coming. Who is it?"

"Hello, police. Are you Ms. Jane Carter? We have a case that requires your assistance with our investigation." Sean Hughes stepped forward and showed his badge.

The color drained from Jane Carter’s face. Sensing the curious stares of her neighbors, she stepped aside to let them in. "Come in."

Led by Jane Carter, Zoe Sawyer and the team sat down on the living room sofa.

Heath Hale subconsciously surveyed his surroundings. The Carter Family’s home was warmly decorated overall, but the coffee table in the living room was piled high with pillboxes.

The two rooms across the hall had pink stuffed animals hanging on them, clearly the rooms of Jane Carter’s twin daughters, but their doors were shut tight.

Moreover, Heath Hale noticed that Jane Carter’s movements were very light from start to finish; she hardly made a sound.

"Officers, what is this about?"
