My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers
Chapter 347: Justin Rothwell’s Plan
Chapter 347: Chapter 347: Justin Rothwell’s Plan
She wanted to avenge her child.
The Rothwell family’s location was easy to find. The family of three had told some of their closer relatives where they were going.
On a dark and windy night, Faye Rowan found an opportunity. She drugged her own family, took all the money they had gotten from selling her, and boarded a bus to her destination.
After finding Justin Rothwell’s family, Faye Rowan didn’t rush in to avenge herself and her child. Instead, she kept her distance and followed them.
While making sure she wasn’t discovered, she found a job to support herself.
She watched from the shadows until Justin Rothwell’s wife’s treatment was successful, she finally got pregnant, and then she gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Faye Rowan knew her chance had come.
In the days that followed, Faye Rowan continued to look for an opening from the shadows. Then today, she finally got her chance and snatched the child.
Faye Rowan’s idea was simple. Since this was the child they had prayed for for so long, she would destroy their hope.
She would avenge herself for being tied up in a room and forced to endure everything, and she would avenge her dead child.
But before she could carry out her plan, Zoe Sawyer came through the door with a team of police officers and arrested her.
Now, hearing from Evan Keller that the son Justin Rothwell had longed for for years was dead, Faye Rowan wished she could jump onto the table, put her hands on her hips, and laugh for three days and three nights.
’What goes around, comes around!’
After hearing the whole story, Evan Keller rubbed his face.
Was Faye Rowan pitiful? Yes.
Whether it was being assaulted, or her child later being taken and brutally killed, these were all severe traumas for her.
But none of that was an excuse for Faye Rowan to commit a crime.
It just went to show that even the most hateful people have their sad stories.
"Alright, I understand the situation. But whether or not you’re connected to the child’s death will have to wait for the autopsy results," Evan Keller said, gathering the documents in his hand. He stood up and looked at Faye Rowan, who was sitting across from him.
The only thing missing from the case was the child’s cause of death.
"I don’t care. As long as that family is miserable, I don’t care what happens to me."
Faye Rowan leaned back in her chair, a look of complete indifference on her face.
Her body had been ruined during those three years.
She was running purely on the will to get revenge.
Right now, Faye Rowan’s only thought was to see that family drowning in regret and tears.
Evan Keller noticed the indifference on Faye Rowan’s face. Recalling the report on her physical condition, he understood.
But Evan Keller didn’t say anything. He just waved his hand, signaling the officers waiting outside to come in and take her away.
「For the next five days」
Zoe Sawyer sat by the office window, watching the recurring drama play out in the courtyard.
It was either Justin Rothwell and his wife, or Justin Rothwell and his mother.
The two groups appeared in the police station courtyard like clockwork, performing the same act.
Crying, throwing tantrums, demanding the police sentence the "human trafficker" to death.
Or they would beg the police to stop, to not "operate" on their child’s body anymore, and to just let him be laid to rest.
On several occasions, Evan Keller and the others even found a miniature camera on Justin Rothwell’s collar, in his pocket, or even in his cuff.
Tracing it back, they discovered Justin Rothwell was live-streaming, trying to use online public opinion to pressure the police into agreeing to his demands.
After being caught a few times, Justin Rothwell quieted down, seeming to have given up this tactic.
But Evan Keller knew that Justin Rothwell definitely had another trick up his sleeve. If the autopsy results didn’t come out soon, public pressure might not be the only thing the police would have to deal with.
"Are the autopsy results still not out?" Zoe Sawyer asked, her expression weary as she watched the recurring drama downstairs.
It was always the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law making a fuss, while Justin Rothwell secretly fanned the flames from the side, thinking his actions were so discreet when, in reality, it was crystal clear to everyone around.
"Soon. We’re just waiting on the results from the final toxicology screen," Evan Keller replied, looking at a message on his phone.
Downstairs, Justin Rothwell looked at the people coming and going, then glanced at his wailing wife beside him, a flicker of impatience in his eyes.
’Useless trash.’
But when he thought about what he was going to do next, a glint of excitement flashed in his eyes.
’As long as I pull this off, I’ll get a huge sum of money.’
’Then I’ll find another healthy woman to give me a son.’
’As for the old hag next to me, she can spend the rest of her life mourning her son!’
At this thought, Justin Rothwell unconsciously lowered his head, looking at the miniature camera stuck to the top of his shoe.
This time, it wasn’t a live stream. It was a video recording, not connected to the internet, so it wouldn’t generate a signal.
’I refuse to believe I’ll get caught this time!’
Zoe Sawyer stood by the window, staring at the two people below.
Before she could speak, a flash of light glinted in her eyes.
Because she had been staring intently, Zoe Sawyer quickly figured out where the light had come from. "That Justin Rothwell seems to be carrying something again. A reflection just flashed in my eyes."
"Evan, you want to go down and check it out?"
It would be bad if it was another live stream.
Although many people knew the family was just making an unreasonable scene, there were always some uninformed viewers who were deceived.
The police station had to issue an explanation every time, which was exhausting and a huge waste of time.
Standing nearby, Justin Rothwell seemed to have noticed the reflection from his shoe as well. He frantically adjusted his pants, trying to make the cuff cover the top of his shoe.
At the same time, he glanced around in a panic, afraid someone else had noticed his actions.
After seeing that no one’s attention was on him, he visibly breathed a sigh of relief.
He then quietly hitched his pant leg up a little again, allowing the camera on his shoe to continue recording everything that was happening.
Heath Hale, who had been quiet the whole time, also noticed his behavior and spoke up. "There’s definitely something up with his shoe. Go check it out."
"Okay, I got it. I’m on my way now," Evan Keller said, putting away his phone and hurrying downstairs.
Justin Rothwell watched the imposing figure of Evan Keller approach, a flicker of fear on his face as his mind started to race. ’Did that cop figure it out?’
’No, no way. These cops might monitor public opinion online, but I’m not streaming and I’m not connected to the internet. They can’t possibly find out!’
Justin Rothwell comforted himself inwardly.
After a few moments of self-reassurance, he relaxed. Seeing Evan Keller walk toward him, Justin Rothwell spoke up. "Captain Keller, now that you’ve come down, are you finally going to give us an explanation?"
"That human trafficker who killed our child—is she going to be severely punished? Or are you police going to cover for her?"
That last sentence was tantamount to pointing at Evan Keller’s nose and accusing the police of being in cahoots with Faye Rowan.
