My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!
Chapter 993 - 996: Pain and Ache
Melody Thorne’s car had already returned to the Quinn Family.
This was not what she wanted. She only wished to silently guard him, just watching him was enough, but she didn’t want him to see her ugly side—that was her last bit of dignity.
Melody Thorne parked the car and received that strange call again. She hadn’t listened carefully before, so she didn’t recognize it. Now, it sounded like the other party deliberately changed their voice.
"Miss Thorne, I saw Mr. Hale collapsed on the side of the road. It’s raining heavily outside, you should take him away."
The voice inside was anxious.
Melody Thorne especially wanted to curse, "What does this have to do with me? If he wants to die on the road, then let him die on the road! And you, calling me again and again, how could it be just a coincidence? Every time Elias has an incident, you happen to come across it. If you come across him, why don’t you help him once?"
"I..."
Melody Thorne angrily hung up the phone.
"Master, don’t be angry. Have a cup of tea?" Ona handed her a cup of tea.
The more Melody Thorne thought about it, the angrier she got, but she also began to suspect whether the woman who deliberately changed her voice when calling was the person Elias was looking for. Why should she care about him? It’s his own choice to live or die!
"Ona, go back and see if Elias Hale really collapsed there."
Ona "...Master..."
Why should he go back?
"Hurry up."
Ona reluctantly left the villa.
The heavy rain washed over the street, ten minutes passed, and Elias Hale still showed no signs of consciousness as the water continued rising.
"Elias Hale," the woman couldn’t help but walk towards him step by step, each step felt like walking on a blade, unbearable pain.
She squatted down, her hands gently brushing over his face, the icy feeling transmitting through her fingers.
"Elias Hale," she seemed to utter, or perhaps she didn’t.
Suddenly, her fingers were grabbed, and Elias Hale’s deep eyes opened as he raised his head.
Selina Sloan was startled, her hand trembled as if the next second, her ugly face beneath the mask would be exposed, making her feel scared.
"Selina!" Elias Hale’s breath rose and fell, "You’re not dead? You’re Selina, right?!"
"No, I’m not!" Selina Sloan cried out, attempting to pull her hand away, "Mr. Hale, you got the wrong person, let go of me, let go of me!"
"Selina, it’s you, I recognize your voice! Why did you appear after so long? Why didn’t you come back to find me?"
"I said you got the wrong person!" Selina Sloan gave him a hard push and turned to run.
Although Elias Hale had been drenched in the heavy rain and was wounded, his reflexes were still sharp. He got up and hugged Selina Sloan from behind, "Selina, don’t go. Don’t leave, I beg you, don’t leave me!"
Selina Sloan felt as if a needle was piercing her heart, the pain making her fearful that he might see her face.
"Elias Hale, let me go. Can’t you let me leave? I’m begging you, just consider it my plea to you!"
This was a side of Selina Sloan he had never seen before, her humble plea to be allowed to leave.
"Why? Why can’t you stay with me? Selina, I love you, I love you. Please come back."
Suddenly, at the end of the road, a car sped towards them rapidly. Elias Hale swiftly moved Selina Sloan to the roadside, and both fell to the ground.
Selina Sloan didn’t care about anything else, she got up and ran.
Elias Hale kept his eyes on the fleeing figure.
