Chapter 988 - 991: To Save or Not to Save?

"Miss Hawthorne, please have a seat. I must thank you for all the gifts you’ve given me recently," Melody Thorne said with a smile as she sat down on the sofa.

"You’re too kind, Miss Thorne. Those were just small tokens. With your current status, you certainly don’t lack such things. I’m just glad you didn’t mind," Vivian Hawthorne replied politely.

"Of course not. Another day, I’ll have Nina King send some other gifts your way. It’s only right to reciprocate!"

"No, there’s no need," Vivian Hawthorne said. "Actually, these days, things have been a complete mess at the Hawthorne Family. The other day, I saw you at our place, Miss Thorne. I came to seek your help, hoping our family can return to the way it was. Given the situation my two brothers have stirred up, I’m truly afraid the Hawthorne Family might disappear forever!"

Melody Thorne expressed interest, "The man you married seems to be in the underworld, doesn’t he? With your current identity, it doesn’t seem suitable for you to get involved in military and political matters."

Melody Thorne neither nodded nor shook her head. "I’ll think about it."

"Alright!"

After seeing Vivian Hawthorne off, Nina King snorted immediately, "Why do I feel like Vivian Hawthorne is only looking out for herself? All this talk about peace in the Hawthorne Family is just a ruse. I’ve heard about their messy infighting too!"

Melody Thorne didn’t intend to get involved with the Hawthorne Family’s affairs. "I’m leaving now. If anything comes up, call me."

Selina Sloan was also nearby; she spotted her unintentionally. It was also she who informed Melody about Elias Hale’s drunken escapades that morning.

She knew those men were under Hanshan’s command, and she recognized Hanshan’s methods. She was hesitant about whether to go over and help Melody Thorne. But she feared being too obvious would arouse the suspicion of the black-clad bodyguards!

In the end, Selina Sloan couldn’t resist and walked toward Melody Thorne. The two women disappeared into the baby clothing store.

"Damn it, where did those two women go? Can they just vanish into thin air?" one of the bodyguards cursed under his breath.

"Let’s search around first."
