My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister

Chapter 474 - 307: Interviewing Jiangg Ning? Chen Yuan’s Identity Revealed

The living room was filled with various items. A few of the decorative objects and books that had previously disappeared were back, ink brushes and paper were laid out, and there was a small, vigorously growing money plant.

Chen Yuan was steeped in guilt, so he didn’t have the presence of mind to notice these things at first. But after a moment, something struck him as odd.

He’d had someone answer roll call for him, which was why he had time to rest. ’But hadn’t Ningning just found a suitable company to start at?’

That was precisely why she had been so incredibly busy these past few days.

’How is she suddenly free?’

’And all the things that had been moved out of the living room...’

Chen Yuan reached out, picked up the pot of money plant, and toyed with its crisp, fresh leaves. Cradling it in his hands, he walked over curiously and leaned against the kitchen doorframe.

"Ningning?"

"Hm? What is it, Chen?" Jiangg Ning turned, tilting her head slightly as she lowered the heat on the frying pan.

"You didn’t go to work today?" he asked tentatively.

"I’m not going. Not tomorrow, either," Jiangg Ning gave him a helpless smile. "It was a three-day trial period, but the company wasn’t very good. The management was a complete mess. I’ve already picked out another batch of companies to try."

With a sigh, Jiangg Ning scooped the fried egg from the pan. Pursing her lovely lips, she handed the plate to Chen Yuan.

She acted very casual, as if it were no big deal.

But inwardly, she was nowhere near as nonchalant as she seemed.

Anyone would say that resigning from Lanjing University wasn’t a rational decision. Her friends had tried to persuade her otherwise, and Jiangg Ruxue had also disagreed, but she had stubbornly gone ahead with it.

A job as a university professor wasn’t just glamorous on the surface; the actual compensation and benefits were excellent. The leadership at Landa University wasn’t corrupt or toxic, either. It was a dream job, as comfortable as one could get. Moreover, teaching and nurturing students brought a sense of accomplishment and noble self-fulfillment.

Leaving that position to chase a new career... to put it nicely, achieving any great ambition requires an arduous struggle. To put it bluntly, Ningning was now facing one setback after another.

Her resume was impeccable, but she lacked practical experience. Most of the companies she interviewed with wanted to hire her but were unwilling to place her in a significant role, even though her interview performances were flawless.

Now, all she could do was tell herself to be patient.

"That’s good. Let’s eat together. I’ll go get Yaoyao," Chen Yuan said with a nod.

He would support whatever career Jiangg Ning wanted to pursue. Besides, he had complete faith in her abilities.

With his one question answered, Chen Yuan’s attention shifted elsewhere.

He tiptoed to the master bedroom and quietly opened the door. The curtains were still drawn inside. Jiangg Yao was curled up under the covers, only the pale tips of her toes peeking out from the "unsafe" world beyond the blanket. Her long hair was fanned out, her sleeping face serene.

Chen Yuan leaned over the edge of the bed, watching her with great interest for a long while. Then, with a mischievous grin, he picked up an eyelash brush from the vanity, reached it toward Yaoyao’s nose, and gently wiggled the tip against her skin.

"Nnngh..."

She let out a little whimper, like a puppy, and subconsciously swatted at her nose, which wrinkled slightly.

It was utterly adorable.

"Time to get up, little sleepyhead," Chen Yuan whispered softly in her ear.

Jiangg Yao, half-asleep and half-awake, struggled to pry open her drowsy eyes. Vaguely making out the person before her, she assumed she was still dreaming and naturally opened her arms for a hug before closing her eyes again.

All was quiet. She dozed for another moment before the warmth of the solid body she was embracing belatedly registered.

"What time is it...? You didn’t go to class," Yaoyao mumbled in a small, hoarse voice.

"Not today. I’ve got a cold."

"Does your head hurt?"

"Not too bad."

"I’ll make sure you take your medicine later."

"I know."

A warm smile touched Chen Yuan’s face as he patted Jiangg Yao on the shoulder.

...

Even with a cold, he still had to work. The thought of staying home all day to keep the two sisters company did cross Chen Yuan’s mind, but it vanished in an instant. He was already swamped juggling his studies and the company. With this unexpected free time, the most sensible thing to do was head to Bauhinia Company and deal with some documents.

He couldn’t just dump everything on Pei Youwen, Mo Nana, and the others.

Now that he was the controlling shareholder, Chen Yuan had no intention of running the thriving company into the ground. It would be a massive joke if he ended up unable to pay his employees’ salaries.

In the end, he was the first one to leave after breakfast.

He didn’t have a moment to breathe all morning. Chen Yuan signed documents until his hand ached. Then, just before noon, Ji Hai, a top-tier graduate from headquarters, came to his office to call a meeting, which then dragged on until one in the afternoon.

Ji Hai was the complete opposite of Pei Youwen—rigid and obstinate. Everyone else was dizzy with exhaustion, but he wouldn’t even let them break for lunch, insisting they finish discussing the latest proposal.

The proposal struck some departments as unfair, so everyone was just dragging things out.

In the end, it was Chen Yuan who spoke up, saying it wasn’t too late to discuss it after lunch. Only then did people finally disperse—some to the cafeteria, while those who lived nearby and wanted a half-hour break went straight home.

...

A Porsche pulled off the road and slowly drove into the underground parking garage of Lanjing Bauhinia Investment Company.

If Chen Yuan had been there, he would have instantly recognized it as Ningning’s car; he knew it all too well.

After parking, Jiangg Ning rustled about inside the car as she changed into high heels. She flipped down the vanity mirror and carefully examined her makeup.

Jiangg Ning, of course, was not there to see Chen Yuan. She had no idea that he was even at this company. At that moment, Ningning was filled with apprehension. She was about to join the countless other interviewees heading into the company, all hoping to land a suitable job.
