Chu Feng only ever got this feeling when he sensed imminent danger.

If this place weren’t dangerous, he wouldn’t be feeling such intense fear for no reason. He could already feel goosebumps prickling his skin.

Under these circumstances, Chu Feng released his Divine Soul Power to probe the area, but he found nothing out of the ordinary.

This only made him more perplexed, and his sense of vigilance heightened.

The less he found, the more uneasy he grew.

‘I wouldn’t be feeling this anxious for no reason. Something is definitely wrong.’

But no matter how he probed, he came up with nothing.

Had Chu Feng walked out into the main hall at that moment, he would have seen the statue’s eyes move strangely. It actually blinked, and the corners of its mouth curled up slightly.

All the while Chu Feng was searching, the statue kept smiling.

It was a smile that seemed to hold a trace of contempt, disdain, and mockery.

Moreover, its eyes were fixed unwaveringly on the room where Chu Feng was staying.

A strange glint would flash in them from time to time. Anyone who happened to see it would likely be scared to death.

Chu Feng, however, paid no mind to the things in the hall. After all, the entire Netherworld Sect was decorated to be bizarre and gloomy.

In this situation, Chu Feng didn’t dare to sleep. He could only sit cross-legged and attempt to enter a state of Cultivation to calm his uneasy heart.

Although Chu Feng was cultivating, he remained on high alert, fully focused on his surroundings. It was always better to be safe than sorry.

If something unexpected happened, he would at least be able to defend himself.

Chu Feng’s Cultivation continued like this until two or three in the morning.

Chu Feng had just started to relax slightly when, a moment later, a bone-chilling cold washed over him.

It felt as if he had been plunged into an icy abyss.

“Come out!” Chu Feng’s eyes snapped open as he roared.

His voice echoed through the room, but the space around him remained utterly silent. Only his own echo answered.

Even so, Chu Feng could sense danger closing in.

Yet, when he probed with his Divine Soul, he still found nothing—not a single trace.

Chu Feng stared at his surroundings for a long moment. When there was still no movement, he closed his eyes to resume his Cultivation. However, he remained fully focused, extending his senses to their absolute limit.

‘I can’t afford to be careless. This place is just too bizarre.’

‘It’s suffused with a dangerous aura, yet I can’t detect a thing. It’s beyond strange; it’s absurd.’

This was the first time he had ever encountered such a situation since he began his Cultivation.

Even though he couldn’t see anything and his Divine Soul couldn’t detect anything, Chu Feng was convinced that something was there, perhaps right inside the room with him.

Not long after Chu Feng closed his eyes again, the scene before him suddenly shifted. He found himself in what looked like a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.

The transition was so silent and seamless that it was over before Chu Feng had any chance to notice.

“You must be Chu Feng.” At that moment, a cold, mocking laugh rang out.

“I am. Who are you? Were you the one who had the Netherworld Sect bring me here? What is it that you want?” Chu Feng asked calmly, his brow furrowed.

A figure materialized before him. It was a mere shadow, its features obscured, but it radiated an aura that could chill one to the bone.

“Yes, I was the one who had the Netherworld Sect summon you. I’ve had my eye on you for a long time. I never expected a Spirit Cultivator to emerge in this day and age. Truly remarkable,” the figure said with a sneer, its voice shrill and bloodcurdling.

“Why did you bring me here? What do you want?” Chu Feng asked, staring intently at the figure.

“To bring you here? Why, to help you, of course! To make you stronger! HAHAHAHA!” The entity laughed, its voice growing even more sinister.

The sound was enough to make one’s skin crawl; it was obvious this creature was up to no good.

‘This entity must also be a Spirit Cultivator. That’s why it’s so arrogant, luring me here. This was a premeditated trap. And its power is likely far greater than my own. I’m in deep trouble. I might not make it out of this.’

Despite this realization, Chu Feng remained outwardly composed. He watched the entity calmly, trying to discern its intentions while simultaneously looking for an opening.

“You can help me become stronger?” Chu Feng asked, attempting to fish for more information.

“But of course! In this entire world, there is no one else who can help you but me!” the entity continued with a laugh. Its words were dripping with conceit, as if it believed itself to be unrivaled.

“Is that so? Then how do you plan to help me? What era are you from? A thousand years ago?” Chu Feng probed.

“Correct. I am indeed from a thousand years ago. But first, why don’t you tell me how you cultivate? From what I know, it’s nearly impossible for a Spirit Cultivator to emerge in the current era. So, could you tell me how you started down this path?” the entity inquired.
