Chapter 591: Chapter 253: Very Busy
Qin Fang nodded.
And so, Qin Fang supported Mu Changge while Elder Cui carried the massive Carp Demon corpse, and they flew toward Sanshi County.
They weren’t in a hurry this time, so it took them nearly an hour to arrive.
The anxious disciples of the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect and the soldiers on duty tensed up when they saw a behemoth approaching from the horizon, immediately raising their weapons.
Cui Daoheng spoke up just in time, preventing a misunderstanding.
Nevertheless, when he set the massive, twenty-meter-long Carp Demon corpse down before the city gates, everyone gasped in shock.
The disciples of the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect took it relatively well.
The soldiers, however, all stared wide-eyed. It was the first time most of them had ever seen such a massive pangolin.
"How is this any different from a small hill?"
A soldier muttered.
"Did you see those Immortals flying around before all this? Whatever... I’m already used to it now..."
his comrade beside him mumbled.
This silenced many of the soldiers...
...If it weren’t for this demon scourge, they never would have known that so many people in this world could fly!
Once they arrived in the city, Cui Daoheng first sent Mu Changge to get his wounds treated.
Though his face was deathly pale, Mu Changge smiled at Qin Fang. "Well, I’m going to take my leave and get these injuries treated. See you around."
Watching his casual demeanor, Qin Fang’s eyes flickered. ’Maybe I’m just overthinking things?’
He cupped his fist in salute. "Go on, Senior Brother. I wish you a speedy recovery."
Mu Changge smiled, nodded, and turned to leave.
Without the slightest hesitation.
Only then did Cui Daoheng turn to Qin Fang. "Nephew Qin, you’ve journeyed hundreds of miles through the night. You must be tired. Why don’t you stay here tonight? I still have to deal with that Carp Demon corpse... We can speak more tomorrow."
"Please, tend to your affairs, Senior. I’m fine," Qin Fang replied quickly.
Cui Daoheng smiled and nodded. He summoned a female disciple from the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect and asked her to show Qin Fang to a place where he could rest.
The pretty disciple from the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect led him to a luxurious residence in the city, where Qin Fang settled in for the night.
"If you need anything, Senior Brother Qin, feel free to command the servants here at any time."
the female disciple said, her tone respectful yet warm as she departed.
Qin Fang nodded. "Thank you."
The female disciple smiled, closed the door, and then departed.
As silence fell around him, Qin Fang let out a soft breath, his eyes glinting thoughtfully.
’I never thought... I’d run into a True Blood Great Demon today.’
’And that Mu Changge...’
He fell silent for a moment.
’I’ll just have to wait and see,’ he thought.
The next day, Cui Daoheng held a banquet in Qin Fang’s honor. Qin Fang was unable to refuse and had no choice but to attend.
After some small talk, Cui Daoheng finally said, "Nephew Qin, yesterday I heard from Nephew Mu that you two suspect the demons have learned to hide themselves... Is this true?"
Qin Fang nodded and recounted his and Mu Changge’s theory, as well as the process of discovering the True Blood Great Demon, to Cui Daoheng.
Hearing this, Cui Daoheng’s brow furrowed. He let out a soft sigh. "If that’s truly the case, then we have a problem..."
Qin Fang knew it was a problem, of course.
Seeing Cui Daoheng fall silent, his brow furrowed as he was clearly contemplating a countermeasure, Qin Fang suddenly spoke up, "Master Cui, may I ask if you know how many sects have arrived in Jinlan Prefecture?"
Cui Daoheng came back to his senses and nodded. "I am stationed here in Sanshi County, but Sect messengers travel back and forth daily, passing along news... As of now, a total of eight sects have arrived in Jinlan Prefecture."
’Eight sects?’
Qin Fang was astonished. Last time, during the incident with the Three Religions, the Heavenly Gang Wuji Sect had only invited six sects in total.
"Jinlan Prefecture borders two other prefectures. Although the Grotto Heaven is located closer to Canglan Prefecture, these Exotic Species have no concept of territory. They scattered in all directions after emerging, and demons have been sighted in several other areas as well... Sigh. Too many Exotic Species have escaped, and our sect is truly short-handed. We had no choice but to ask the other sects for aid."
Cui Daoheng explained with a helpless expression.
Qin Fang nodded. Cui Daoheng briefly explained the current situation... To put it simply, each sect was responsible for blockading the area in the direction of their own territory, but they had also dispatched disciples at the Divine Illumination Realm and above to enter Jinlan to slay demons.
With these reinforcements, the pressure had indeed lessened considerably.
"But now it seems a considerable number of the more cunning Exotic Species have chosen to go into hiding..."
Cui Daoheng sighed in frustration.
...It’s one thing for these Exotic Species to hide.
But the other sects can’t possibly stay in Jinlan Prefecture forever.
They’ll have to leave eventually.
Once these reinforcements leave, the pressure from these hidden Exotic Species will fall entirely on the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect.
It was no wonder Cui Daoheng took this so seriously.
Qin Fang had no solution to offer for this, so he naturally remained silent.
After a long while, Cui Daoheng finally shook his head. "I will report this matter to the Sect... We’ll see how to handle it then."
Qin Fang nodded, then a thought occurred to him. "Master, has there been any change at the Grotto Heaven?"
"I haven’t seen the Grotto Heaven myself, but I’ve heard that Exotic Species are still pouring out from inside... However, our sect has already laid down an array near the Grotto Heaven. The Sect Leader and several Peak Masters are there, so there won’t be any major trouble."
He paused for a moment, then sighed softly. "It’s a pity we can’t set up an array across the entire Jinlan Prefecture... Otherwise, the problem would be solved."
Qin Fang was left speechless...
...An array to cover an entire prefecture?
’What a notion...’
An array that vast would be impossible to run.
The amount of Primordial Power required to activate it would be astronomical!
After some more small talk, with the meal and wine nearly finished, Qin Fang stood up to take his leave. "Well, Senior, I will get back to hunting demons... When Senior Brother Mu has recovered, please bid him farewell for me."
"Sigh, we are asking a lot of you nephews..."
"Not at all. It is our duty."
"Hmm, Nephew, you’ve been here so long, you must not have gone to collect your True Essence Pills, have you? Here are one hundred of them. Please, take them. Consider it a small token of my appreciation."
In the end, Cui Daoheng actually gave Qin Fang a cloth bag containing one hundred True Essence Pills.
Qin Fang was astonished...
’A hundred?’
’That’s worth forty thousand contribution points!’
...But it was a gift, and it’d be a waste not to accept it.
Qin Fang said respectfully, "Thank you, Senior."
Cui Daoheng smiled and nodded. "Alright, Nephew, off you go. Be careful out there. If you face any real danger, use the Sword Gall when you have to. Our sect’s Elders are also stationed in the various county seats."
Qin Fang bowed. "Yes. Thank you, Senior. I understand."
After exchanging a few more words, Qin Fang shot into the air and departed, heading back into the wilderness once more.
