Chapter 590: Chapter 253: Very Busy

The disciples and soldiers below stared at one another in confusion before bursting into a flurry of discussion.

"A True Blood Great Demon has appeared! Everyone, on your guard!"

Someone shouted.

The disciples of the Golden Rainbow Sword Sect and the soldiers grew tense.

...The appearance of a True Blood Great Demon three hundred li away put the Sanshi County Government Office on high alert.

Elder Cui was significantly faster than Qin Fang.

Although the elder was only in the Fifth Realm... he was still far stronger than Qin Fang.

With a deep frown, Qin Fang struggled to keep up.

...’To be honest, Mu Changge’s choice surprised me.’

’He actually chose to stay behind alone to cover our retreat.’

...’Not many people would do that for someone they’d just met.’

’It wasn’t as if I was completely unmoved.’

’But still...’

Qin Fang’s brow furrowed slightly.

’I’ll have to wait and see.’

He pushed himself to go faster.

Before long, he finally saw the sky ahead saturated with the aura of True Gang.

"Vile beast, die!"

Elder Cui’s furious roar rang out, followed by a flash of light that struck like lightning.

Qin Fang once again heard that familiar, baby-like shriek.

Qin Fang accelerated, and finally, he saw it.

High in the sky, a horrifying, bloody gash had been carved into the Carp Demon’s body.

Before it stood Mu Changge, his face deathly pale and a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth.

As Qin Fang arrived, Mu Changge turned his head. Upon seeing Qin Fang, a relieved smile spread across his face, and his body swayed slightly.

Startled, Qin Fang shot through the air on instinct, appearing at Mu Changge’s side in an instant to support him.

This steadied his swaying form.

A closer look revealed a horrifying wound on Mu Changge’s chest. Qin Fang’s pupils constricted. "Senior Brother Mu..."

"I’m fine. This beast is surprisingly strong..."

Mu Changge cut Qin Fang off with a smile, though his voice was clearly weak.

Before Qin Fang could say more, Elder Cui, who had taken Mu Changge’s place, let out a cold snort. "Trying to run? Die!"

He turned to see the True Blood Carp Demon, heavily wounded by Elder Cui’s sword strike, turning to flee.

But Elder Cui, of course, would not let it escape. He immediately gave chase, sword in hand, unleashing another beam of Sword Aura.

The Demon Gang around the Carp Demon flared. The Sword Aura struck true, but the Demon Gang absorbed most of the impact. Still, the blow was strong enough to make the Carp Demon spit blood.

It shrieked, whipping its head around and slashing its claws. A blade of golden and silver Gang instantly shot toward Elder Cui.

Elder Cui flicked his sword, unleashing his own Sword Aura.

BOOM!!!

The Gang blade and Sword Aura collided with a deafening roar. A terrifying shockwave blasted through the wilderness, and the sharp sword intent shredded the surrounding trees to splinters.

Countless boulders were either sliced apart or blasted to bits.

Elder Cui’s momentum was unbroken as he continued the pursuit.

The Great Demon dove headfirst into the ground. With a rumbling like an earthquake, it tore open a massive hole and burrowed inside.

Utterly fearless, Elder Cui, man and sword as one, plunged into the hole after it.

Then, a series of deep rumbles echoed from below.

The wilderness below shook as if in the throes of an earthquake, the roaring unabated.

This continued for a good while before everything finally fell silent.

Qin Fang and Mu Changge both stared instinctively at the massive hole.

A short time later, a figure flew out.

In his hand, he carried a colossal creature...

It was Elder Cui!

And what he carried was, of course, the Carp Demon.

Now, however, the Carp Demon was covered in sword wounds, and half its head was gone.

A chill went through Qin Fang...

...’Clearly, there are vast differences in power even within the Fifth Realm.’

’This Elder Cui is likely one of the stronger experts among them.’

Elder Cui flew up to them. His gaze fell on Mu Changge. "Changge, are you alright?"

"I’m fine, Martial Uncle," Mu Changge replied with a faint smile. "Thankfully, you arrived when you did. Any later... and I’m afraid I would have been in real trouble."

Elder Cui examined him closely, his eyes lingering on the gash on his chest... The wound had even torn through the Treasure Robe that signified his status as a True Inheritance disciple.

However, it appeared to be a flesh wound and not something that would damage his foundation, so the elder breathed a sigh of relief.

Then he turned to Qin Fang, who was supporting Mu Changge, and smiled. "We have Nephew Qin to thank this time for his timely report. Otherwise... I fear our sect would have lost another True Inheritance disciple."

Qin Fang shook his head. "Senior Brother Mu fought the True Blood Great Demon so that I could escape... It’s my fault. If not for me, he wouldn’t have been injured..."

Before Qin Fang could finish, Mu Changge cut him off with a laugh. "You jest, Senior Brother Qin. You came to aid our sect; it is my duty to ensure your safety. Don’t say such things again."

Qin Fang paused for a moment, then sighed softly. "Senior Brother, please don’t call me ’Senior Brother.’ I joined the sect much later than you and I’m younger, too. I really don’t deserve the title."

Mu Changge paused, then smiled graciously. "Very well. I suppose I am a few years your senior... In that case, from now on, I’ll call you... Junior Brother?"

Hearing this, Qin Fang nodded.

A broad smile lit up Mu Changge’s face. "Meeting a young hero like Junior Brother Qin today truly calls for a celebration!"

But as he spoke, he couldn’t stop himself from coughing twice, and a trickle of fresh blood escaped his lips.

Startled, Qin Fang saw that Elder Cui had already approached. The elder scanned Mu Changge with his Divine Sense, then frowned. "The wound isn’t severe, but the Carp Demon’s Demon Gang lingers within it... Let’s return to Sanshi County for now. You’ll likely need to return to the sect to have this injury properly treated."

"Alright." Mu Changge took a couple of shallow breaths but still managed a smile and a nod.

"Nephew Qin, would you care to join us in Sanshi County to rest for a while?" Elder Cui asked, turning to Qin Fang.
