My Magic Has No Upper Limit

Chapter 87: Silver Level Adventurer

Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Silver Level Adventurer

Marcus stepped forward.

Enduring the stench, he used his Battle Saber to slice open the Earth Lizard Beast’s abdomen. He prodded around with the tip of his blade and successfully located the ochre-colored Demon Core.

This was because Earth Lizard Beasts generally didn’t chew much when they ate.

So, Marcus couldn’t avoid seeing large, undigested chunks of humanoid flesh spilling out from its stomach...

He didn’t know what words to use to describe it. In short, it was utterly revolting.

"We didn’t do anything in this fight," Marcus said. "The bounty and the money from the Demon Core... you split it with Valles."

"No way. You guys came all the way out here with me. Without you, I wouldn’t have dared to hunt an Earth Lizard Beast by myself."

Zelir waved his hand dismissively. "You three can each take a tenth of the reward."

"Zelir, you’re the best," Gray said, grinning from ear to ear.

"I’ll just take a tenth, too. The rest is yours," Valles said.

"Alright." Zelir didn’t argue and immediately agreed to Valles’s proposal.

...

The squad returned to Black Stone Town as dusk began to fall.

「Adventurer’s Association.」

Marcus walked up to the counter and placed two bags of items on it as proof of quest completion.

"We’re here to turn in our quests. These are the Demon Cores from the Tree Spirit clearing commission, and here’s an Earth Lizard Beast Demon Core."

"An Earth Lizard Beast?"

Hearing this, Eira blinked in confusion.

"Mr. Marcus, your squad didn’t accept a commission to hunt an Earth Lizard Beast, did you? Are you just here to sell the materials?"

Before Marcus could explain, Kaiden stepped forward.

He told Eira what had happened to his teammate and how the Marcus Squad had killed the Earth Lizard Beast.

When she heard that the Earth Lizard Beast had been killed by a single horizontal slash from a Water Blade cast by Zelir, Eira couldn’t help but sneak a glance at him.

’He’s really... that powerful?’

Then, her tone shifted, carrying a hint of sympathy and pity.

"I see. I understand, Mr. Kaiden. My condolences... If that’s what happened, then it can certainly be counted as a completion for the Marcus Squad."

Eira began to tally the spoils and do the paperwork to calculate the rewards. She had the results in no time.

Sixteen Tree Monsters, with a bounty of twenty Silver Coins each, for a total of three Gold and twenty Silver Coins.

Sixteen Tree Monster Demon Cores, at Ten Silver Coins each, for a total of one Gold and sixty Silver Coins.

One Tree Spirit: bounty of six Gold Coins, Demon Core worth eight Gold Coins.

In total, the Tree Spirit clearing commission yielded eighteen Gold and eighty Silver Coins.

The Earth Lizard Beast had a bounty of seven Gold Coins, and its Demon Core was worth five gold coins.

This time, the Marcus Squad earned a total of thirty gold coins and eighty Silver Coins.

Zelir’s share alone was fourteen Gold and seventy-two Silver Coins, bringing his total assets to fifty-five Gold Coins.

After everything had been processed, Eira spoke up again.

"And one more thing... Congratulations, Mr. Marcus and Mr. Valles! You’ve both been officially promoted to Silver Level Adventurers!"

"Silver Level Adventurers?" Zelir asked, surprised.

If he remembered correctly, Valles had mentioned the requirements before.

You get an Iron Badge just for registering, and after completing ten ordinary commissions, you get promoted to Copper Level.

A Copper Level Adventurer then needs to complete ten Junior-level commissions before they can be promoted to a Silver Level Adventurer.

"That’s right."

Eira nodded affirmatively.

"Mr. Marcus and Mr. Valles already had several Junior-level commissions completed."

"And ever since you joined their squad, your efficiency has been absurdly high. With a one hundred percent success rate on all your commissions, they quickly accumulated enough to get promoted."

Eira counted on her fingers as she listed them off.

"First was the wolf-clearing commission. Although it was just an ordinary commission, you killed a juvenile Fog Demon on your way back."

"After a review, our system upgraded that commission’s rating from ordinary to Junior."

"Then there was the Slime commission, where you also killed a [Difficulty]-rated Giant Slime. That one was also reclassified as a Junior-level commission."

"After that came the Giant Winged Bat commission, the Goblin Community vengeance commission, the graveyard skeleton clearing, and the Kobold clearing."

"Add to that today’s Tree Spirit and Earth Lizard Beast commissions... all of these were bona fide Junior-level commissions. That’s why Mr. Marcus and Mr. Valles were promoted!"

"So... by that logic..."

Zelir pointed to himself. "Does that mean I’ve also completed eight Junior-level commissions?"

"Yes!"

Eira gave him a sweet smile. "As long as your next two commissions are also Junior-level, you can skip the Copper Level Adventurer rank and be promoted directly to a Silver Level Adventurer!"

"Honestly, for a rookie Adventurer to participate in killing a [Difficulty]-rated Demon on every single commission... that’s an incredible feat!"

"Oh..."

Zelir nodded thoughtfully.

Hearing Eira list everything out like that, he was startled to realize just how much he’d accomplished without even noticing.

He couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride.

’Maybe I’ll even set a record for the fastest promotion to Silver Level Adventurer.’

Marcus, on the other hand, didn’t feel particularly happy about the promotion.

’If it weren’t for Zelir and Valles,’ he thought, ’I never would have been able to complete Junior-level commissions this efficiently.’

’My actual strength isn’t there yet. Even with a Silver Level Adventurer certification, it’s not much use.’

’When I go solo in the future, I’ll still have to stick to ordinary commissions.’

"Speaking of which, how come you weren’t promoted?"

Zelir suddenly turned to Gray. "Don’t tell me you hadn’t even completed three Junior-level commissions before all this?"

"So... so what!"

Gray glared. "What’s wrong with slacking off and taking it easy? Ordinary commissions can be pretty tough, you know."

"You’re way too lazy, aren’t you?" Zelir laughed.

"Mr. Gray has only participated in one commission to kill Giant Winged Bats. Other than that, he has no record of completing any other Junior-level commissions," Eira chimed in, exposing Gray’s history at the perfect moment.

Gray’s face flushed red with embarrassment.

"Are there any special perks for becoming a Silver Level Adventurer?" Zelir asked.

"Of course,"

Eira explained, pointing to a separate passageway on the right side of the hall—the one Gray had mentioned before.

"Once you become a Silver Level Adventurer, you can go through there to accept Middle Level commissions, which are more difficult but offer much greater rewards."

"However, Middle Level commissions usually involve many tricky and tenacious [Difficulty]-rated Demons. You might even encounter [Challenge]-rated Demons, so please be careful."

"Additionally, Silver Level Adventurers get better prices when selling Demon materials."

"The inner sections of the Association’s shop will also be open to you. The variety and quality of the items and equipment there are much better."

Zelir followed Eira’s finger with his gaze.

Sure enough, there was another corridor on the left side of the hall leading elsewhere.

Standing on his tiptoes, he could see rows of shelves lined with a dazzling array of goods. The area seemed quite busy, too.

Zelir had always done his shopping at the Mage’s Guild trading post, so he’d never paid much attention to the shop at the Adventurer’s Association.

’I should check it out when I have time.’
