My God-Level System Can Rebuild Civilization in the Apocalypse!
Chapter 211: The Search for an Excavator
Before this, Jin Hunseok had always felt that everyone was struggling after the apocalypse.
Letting them stay here did not seem like a big deal as long as they did not cause trouble.
Besides, they had made it clear from the very beginning that they would not provide food or rescue them if danger came.
What he had failed to realize was that many dangers did not suddenly appear out of nowhere.
They were brought in by people.
Since those people were not members of his own team, even if he warned them, they would not listen.
They would only think he was making a fuss.
And he still could not bring himself to kill people simply because they refused to listen.
In that case, leaving was their only option.
"Hyung."
The moment Jin Hunseok returned, everyone immediately greeted him.
"Is the food ready?" Jin Hunseok asked while thinking things over. "Don’t all crowd around here. Let’s head over and eat. We can hold a meeting while we’re at it."
"Hyung, you don’t actually believe what that boy said just now, do you?"
"Exactly. He’s only a few levels higher than us. There’s no need to treat everything he says as the truth."
"..."
Jin Hunseok’s expression remained unchanged.
After all, he had once worked in sales and he had considerable confidence in his ability to persuade others.
However, he had no intention of convincing every single person.
Instead, he intended to use this opportunity to further streamline the team.
As long as the remaining members did not object, he would be able to trust them enough to leave his back in their hands.
Even if those members were not as thoughtful or as aware of potential dangers as he was, they at least had a certain degree of trust in him.
After all, a team with too many different voices was bound to run into trouble sooner or later.
...
Joo Joowon had no idea what Jin Hunseok would do after returning, nor did he care.
He immediately headed straight toward Jonggak Street, the place the young man had mentioned earlier.
Jonggak Street happened to be in the exact opposite direction from Joo Joowon’s usual commute to work.
As an ordinary office worker, he had no idea that construction had been taking place over there.
It was only after hearing everyone mention it today that he learned the long delayed demolition project had finally begun. It could only be said that their residential complex had somehow managed to escape every round of demolition. In a certain sense, this place could even be considered a heaven chosen by fate.
Jonggak Street was not particularly far from the residential complex. He only needed to pass through two intersections and two traffic lights to get there. There was also a gas station along the roadside. Unfortunately, even if Joo Joowon wanted to take the gasoline, he could not carry very much of it.
Perhaps because the sky had not yet fully brightened, there were still many high level zombies and elite monsters active in the surrounding area. They were like predators in nature that had claimed the golden hours of hunting, knowing better than anyone which periods were most suitable for hunting.
It was neither during the daytime nor in the middle of the night. It was during the early morning and the period when the sky had just turned dark, people had finished dinner, and were preparing to go to sleep.
During these two periods, humans would naturally be staying at home according to their usual schedules. They would inevitably make some noises while getting up, washing, and doing other things. There was no need to search each room one by one and rely on luck. It was easy to "locate them by sound."
If zombies used their physical attributes the same way Joo Joowon did.
Joo Joowon’s current attributes were being utilized to their full potential. This was completely different from before, when he could not even display half of their actual effectiveness.
Under these circumstances, he was just like a cat or a dog, possessing extremely sharp hearing and a keen sense of smell. The noises that humans believed they were making quietly were as clear as day to him. Presumably, the same was true for many chimeras that had fused with animals such as cats and dogs.
Joo Joowon dealt with every zombie he encountered along the way, casually taking care of them without getting too entangled with them. If one ran away, he did not chase it. After all, accomplishing her main objective today was still more important, and he had no interest in wasting time on other things.
When he finally reached Jonggak Street, Joo Joowon was lucky enough to encounter a relatively slow level 5 elite monster. Perhaps because se had dealt with it too quickly and cleanly, no other elite monsters dared to provoke him afterward. Only low level zombies that would rush over howling at the sight of fresh flesh remained. Their numbers were limited, so they could not provide him with much experience.
After entering Jonggak Street, Joo Joowon immediately spotted the construction site that had already been cleared out beside the street. Nearly an entire street’s worth of buildings had been demolished, and the area was surrounded by a circle of blue corrugated metal barriers.
The construction site was too far away for Joo Joowon to see clearly what tools and equipment were still left inside, so he could not help feeling a little nervous. It was only after he approached that he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
They were still here! There was even more than just an excavator and there was also a wheel loader!
The excavator was crawler based, so it was relatively slow to be operated and move around. The wheel loader, on the other hand, ran on tires, which making it much more convenient once it got onto the road. Therefore, Joo Joowon still preferred the wheel loader.
