Chapter 136: Chapter 134: Meteor University Above the Secret Realm
A system notification chimed in his ear, causing Li Heng to freeze in place. His right foot even remained suspended in midair, unwilling to take the next step as he blankly listened to the voice that followed.
He didn’t know how many "dynasties" the notification had announced before it prompted him to pay attention at his convenience, at which point he slowly came back to his senses.
’If I’m not mistaken... so far, all the locations recorded by the Dungeon have been inside secret realms. Does that mean...’
Li Heng paused for a moment. Then, he remembered something critically important, and his expression changed dramatically.
’It’s not just the Flying Boat itself—everything on board is related to Soul Energy, as if they were preparing for something!’
Adding that to the three words Lu Shengming had said earlier—"expand our territory"—Li Heng mulled it over. Once he pieced everything together, his face instantly darkened.
With this idea and suspicion forming in his mind, Li Heng immediately headed for the deck to see what the situation was really like.
Taking the stairs two or three at a time, he emerged into a sliver of light and stepped onto the deck.
"This... This is..."
Below the deck was a massive city, completely encircled by a wall.
Looking down from above, his eyes were met with row upon row of ancient-style residential buildings, with a tall tower standing right in the center.
As for the surroundings, the blue sky and white clouds were quite pleasant. But as nice as the scenery was, Li Heng was in no mood to keep watching.
The distinctly ancient-style architecture, the school’s mandatory historical clothing, the confiscation of all non-Soul Energy Items...
Putting all the factors together, Li Heng had a terrible suspicion. ’This freaking Meteor University campus... don’t tell me it’s built inside a secret realm!’
Li Heng stood on the deck in his white robes, feeling the wind on his face, his heart a whirlwind of complex emotions.
If Meteor University’s campus was indeed built in a secret realm, then based on the system notifications he’d just heard, it was an incredibly complex one.
The number of dynasties he’d heard sounded like a laundry list, and it had even forced his normally reliable system to perform an update.
A system update was unprecedented. That, combined with Lu Shengming’s earlier talk of expanding territory, gave Li Heng the feeling that this secret realm was far from fully explored.
’So it’s a partially explored secret realm?!’
’Building a school inside a partially explored secret realm... what were the people in charge of this university thinking!’
Li Heng’s feelings were a tangled mess. No wonder Lu Shengming had guaranteed that Meteor University wouldn’t force students to explore partially explored or unknown secret realms.
’It turns out... the most likely reason is that Meteor University itself *is* a partially explored secret realm.’
Realizing this, Li Heng felt he had been scammed.
When he had applied to Meteor University, the most attractive point for him was that it didn’t force students to participate in the exploration of partially explored secret realms. And now, this was the situation!
What was even worse was that when Li Heng had browsed for information about Meteor University online, he had found mostly text descriptions.
They all hyped Meteor University to the skies, and the only pictures attached were of the city gate he had seen at the beginning, along with other shots cropped around it.
’No wonder Lu Shengming said Meteor University’s confidentiality measures were pretty good!’
’This isn’t "pretty good" confidentiality!’
’This is outright deception!’
The deeper Li Heng thought about it, the more he understood. He hadn’t just been scammed; he’d been scammed on a life-altering level.
"Wow! Meteor University is this amazing? Is the entire style retro? They’re really loaded!"
"Meteor University is really something else! No wonder the main gate was closed and they made us wear historical clothes. This scenery could rival some of the ancient cities used for filming!"
"Meteor University is badass! The historical uniforms they gave us are super good-looking, too. I’m a fan for life!"
"It’s a shame they took our phones. Otherwise, a view like this would blow up my entire social media feed!"
...
Listening to the discussions of his classmates, Li Heng didn’t have the energy to say anything. He was just mentally exhausted, and even felt a faint pang of envy.
After all, these students didn’t yet understand the gravity of the situation. They were still in the mood to marvel at the sights. ’Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.’
On the Flying Boat led by Lu Shengming, aside from Li Heng and the others who had chosen the top ten rooms, most of the students were simply marveling at the scenery of Meteor University.
Chen Bingjing took in her surroundings. The stark contrast with the world outside the main gate, combined with the earlier confiscation of all non-Soul Energy Items, led her to a few suspicions of her own.
Having suspicions was one thing, but seeing Li Heng deep in thought, Chen Bingjing walked over to him.
"Li Heng, what are your thoughts on Meteor University?"
Li Heng looked up and saw Chen Bingjing was smiling, but he could clearly hear the probing question behind her words.
"Chen Bingjing, what do *you* think?"
Li Heng didn’t answer directly, instead tossing the question back at her.
And so, both Li Heng and Chen Bingjing fell silent. No further answer was needed. Between the scene before them and all of Meteor University’s previous actions, the truth seemed to have already surfaced.
After the brief exchange between Li Heng and Chen Bingjing, the expressions on the faces of Lu Bichuan and the other students nearby also went through a series of changes. However, they kept their gazes fixed on the view beyond the deck and didn’t say a word.
If one were to say that the emotions of all the students on the Flying Boat were in flux, then Bai Shasha was the calmest one of all.
The flat-chested loli’s expression showed no change whatsoever. She simply moved to stand silently beside Li Heng when Chen Bingjing approached, not saying a single word from beginning to end.
After flying for nearly ten minutes, all the Flying Boats suddenly came to a stop and began to slowly descend.
On the outskirts of the city was a large, open field that appeared to be the docking point for these Flying Boats.
And as the Flying Boats were descending, five figures suddenly shot out from the city.
One on Sword Control!
One riding a Flying Soul Beast!
One flying on their own power!
As the five figures flew out, Lu Shengming also drew a Longsword, stood atop it as it flew, and sped towards them.
By this time, the Flying Boat had descended to ground level. In everyone’s eyes, the six figures converged in the sky, shimmering with light.
The crowd of students looked up at the six figures, only to hear a powerful, resonant voice boom from above!
"Welcome, students, to Meteor University—built within a partially explored secret realm, atop the Meteor Dynasty! We wish you all an enjoyable university life here! May your martial fortunes flourish!"
And as that powerful, resonant voice reached every student’s ears, the entire flotilla of Flying Boats was plunged into a dead silence, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
