My Desire System: The More They Want Me, The Stronger I Get
Chapter 38: Breaking The Vault
Leo kicked out the ventilation grating with a controlled snap, dropping ten feet into the circular sub-deck vault.
He landed on the floor without making a sound, rising into a balanced crouch as his blade slid into his grip.
Sierra dropped down behind him, her violet gown whispering against the air as she touched down with agile grace.
"Intruder alarm bypassed for thirty seconds," she whispered, checking the blinking diode on her wrist terminal.
"Grab the crystal before the system runs its diagnostic sweep."
"The lock is tied to three power conduits," she added, studying the glowing electromagnetic pedestal in the center of the room.
"I need twenty seconds to cut the backup circuit."
"Take all the time you need," Leo murmured, keeping his gaze locked on the fortified doorway across the chamber.
Before they could take two steps toward the pedestal, the doors of the security booth slammed open.
A massive juggernaut strode into the chamber, his knuckles cracking with the sound of hydraulic pistons.
It was Bruno, the notorious brawler from the District 9 Pit, his lower face replaced by a reinforced jaw plate.
"Well, look what dropped into my playroom," Bruno rumbled through his vocal synth, baring teeth in a sadistic grin.
"Boss Flint told me some slum rats might try to crash our auction tonight."
"He said anyone who steps into this vault leaves in a body bag," Bruno sneered, testing his hydraulic fists with a concussive hiss of steam.
"I took thirty straight knockouts in the Pit before Flint bought my contract, and I have not lost a brawl since."
"There is a first time for everything," Leo replied, his tone ice-cold as he stepped forward.
"I will handle the vault locks," Sierra said quickly, unspooling a thin strand of monomolecular wire from her ring.
"Do not let him touch the alarm toggle on the wall."
"He will not touch anything," Leo answered calmly, stepping between Bruno and the central pedestal.
Bruno lunged forward with explosive speed, throwing a piston-driven right hook aimed at Leo’s temple.
The air displacement whistled like a mortar shell, threatening to cave in a skull on impact.
Leo did not dodge or back away.
He activated Vorn Dermal Hardening across his forearm, raising his guard to meet the incoming punch head-on.
The collision rang out like a sledgehammer striking an anvil, sending a shockwave through the vault air.
Bruno’s hydraulic knuckles struck Leo’s arm with zero give, the armored skin absorbing the impact without yielding a millimeter.
"What kind of bones do you have?!" Bruno stammered in shock, his hydraulic servos whining in overload.
"The kind that do not break," Leo replied coldly.
Leo stepped into the man’s guard, driving an open Void-Pulse palm strike into the center of the jaw plate.
Concentrated shadow ether detonated inside the framework, shattering the pneumatic joints and blowing the cybernetic plate off its mounts.
Bruno’s eyes rolled back into his head as his massive frame crashed onto the floor, unconscious and motionless.

"Quick and clean, just the way I like it," Sierra called out from the central pedestal, her fingers moving across the keypad.
She looped her monomolecular wire around the magnetic containment clamps, slicing through the power conduits in a spray of blue sparks.
The electromagnetic field dissipated with a soft hum, dropping the glowing blue crystal into her hands.
"Got it," she said with a triumphant smile, turning toward Leo with the radiant artifact held high.
"Genesis Shard 2 is officially ours."
She opened the adjoining security safe, scooping stacks of bearer bonds and syndicate chits into her pouch with practiced speed.
[ Vault Cash Split: +500,000 Credits | New Balance: 903,500 Credits ]
"That is forty million credits in untraceable bearer notes," she laughed, tossing the crystal across the room.
Leo caught the glowing shard in his palm, feeling the familiar cosmic heat resonate through his chest brand.
Before they could move toward the ventilation shaft, a harsh strobe light flooded the entire vault chamber.
A siren began to wail through the bulkhead speakers as thick security slabs dropped over the ceiling vents.
"Well, well, well," Boss Flint’s voice boomed through the intercom system from the security bridge above.
"I thought I recognized that dark coat on the promenade cameras."
"You really thought you could rob my private vault on the Golden Leviathan and walk away, boy?" Flint laughed through the speaker.
"You took my gladiator ring in District 9, but out here in international waters, nobody is coming to save you."
The circular vault doors locked with four pneumatic deadbolts, sealing the chamber into an airtight tomb.
"The blast doors are sealed from the bridge," Sierra said with growing alarm, rushing to the terminal and punching in bypass codes.
"The security console is locked behind a firewall, I cannot force the door open from inside!"
Release valves hissed open along the ceiling rim, pumping dense plumes of green neurotoxin gas into the room.
"Enjoy the Olympus Nerve-Nine vapor, slum rat," Flint sneered over the intercom.
"It dissolves human lung tissue in twenty seconds flat."
"Leo..." Sierra choked out, coughing as the toxic vapor filled the air around them.
Her legs gave out from the onset of the paralyzing gas, her vision blurring as she collapsed forward.
Leo caught her by the waist with both arms, pulling her limp body securely against his chest.
"Hold your breath," he whispered softly, his arm tightening around her back as her head rested against his shoulder.
He pulled the lapel of his tailored jacket over her face, shielding her nose and mouth from the thick plumes of fog.
He carried her into the corner of the vault and sat her gently against the wall, channeling a sphere of shadow ether around her head to filter the toxic air.
From the shadows of his trouser legs, Kage materialized as a twelve-foot void beast, curling its muscular body around Sierra to protect her with a shield of darkness.
The lethal green neurotoxin swirled around them in clouds, seeping through the fabric of his jacket and pressing against his throat.
Instead of burning his lungs, the All-Spark in his chest flared with furious purple luminescence.

Leo stood tall in the center of the poisoned room, taking the glowing blue Genesis Shard from his pocket and pressing his palm against its core.
The cold mist washed over his skin, fueling his core with fresh energetic pressure instead of killing him.
The syndicate boss thought he had trapped two mice in a cage.
He was about to find out he had locked himself in the same room with an apex predator.
