Chapter 240

Deep within the Li Clan Manor… In one of the rooms, Liyu lay peacefully on his bed. His eyes suddenly snapped open. His eyes seemed to shake with lingering fear, but as time passed, that fear gradually faded. He slowly sat up.

A heavy headache slammed into his head, forcing him to rub his forehead with a small wince. The dream he had experienced flooded his mind the next moment. It took him a while before he finally regained his bearings.

Liyu spent a long while trying to come to terms with the fact that it might not have been just a dream. It could very well have been a vision of some sort. If he discarded it as a dream and it ended up happening in real life… Wouldn’t that mean he would be cooked?

More than cooked, even. The rest of humanity would be cooked alongside him. The memory of the apocalypse he had seen was no longer that clear, already beginning to blur away. But he still remembered how terrified he had been when he witnessed it.

He had only felt that fear in the dream. Yet in real life, he was covered in cold sweat. That alone was a testament to just how terrified he had been when he witnessed what that crazy Liyu claimed to be the upcoming future. The End…

Liyu leaned against the bed and sighed. “I was just about to plan on how to start enjoying life, and now I already have a massive problem…” “And a rather troublesome responsibility.” What did he mean by he had to save humanity?

Was he some kind of hero? Liyu had never planned to live as one. But that apocalypse would surely affect him a great deal. So yes… Whether he wanted to be a hero or didn’t care to be one, he needed to get stronger.

Much stronger. After all, to enjoy life, there had to be a world left to enjoy. And he had to be alive to enjoy it. “I guess it is decided, then.” “I would just get so much stronger than all five of those beings and end them before they can start the apocalypse.” Liyu smiled.

“Now that is sorted out…” He had many things he needed to focus on. “Hey, Sys…” “Are you there?” Ding! [Welcome back, Host.] [You had such a long nap. I thought you went into a coma.]

The system’s voice sounded concerned. Liyu gave a small cough before asking, “Hey, Sys… how long was I out?” He wanted to know just how many hours he had spent sleeping. [Host, you have been asleep for several days now.] [Two months, to be exact.]

Liyu’s eyes twitched. Then they widened. “Wait…” “Two months?” “That is sixty-plus days!” He had been sleeping for months? How? Why the hell had he slept for so long? “Hey, Sys… why?”

The system soon gave him the answer he had been waiting for. [Host, let’s just say you pushed yourself past the brink during the tournament.] [You broke past your limits.] [First of all, you used Berserker, which placed a massive strain on your body.]

[And that was after you had already entered your hybrid form and had been battling for several hours.] [Your body was already strained after all of that.] [Then you used Berserker again.] [And as if that wasn’t enough, you merged with one clone… then with two… and finally with three.]

[Even while in the fusion state, you continued to push yourself far beyond your limits.] [With the stress of the Origin Eyes layered on top of all of that as well, you pushed yourself to the very brink…] [And then crossed beyond it.] [Because of that, your body needed a long period of sleep to recover.]

Liyu nodded, grasping the situation rather quickly. Just then, his mind flashed back to his three clones. The three had been more than a great help during his battle against Shi Tian. If it wasn’t for their help, he would never have won that tournament.

“Hey, Sys…” “How is the recuperation of my clones going?” Just then, the system released the notifications it had been holding back. Ding! [Congratulations! Your Reflection, King Rayden, has fully recuperated.]

Ding! [Congratulations! Your Reflection, Dead Eye Rayden, has fully recuperated.] Ding! [Congratulations! Your Reflection, Lazy Rayden, has fully recuperated.] Seeing the notifications, Liyu wore a warm and genuine smile. It was good that they were okay.

He immediately summoned them. The three appeared right before him. Immediately after appearing, Dead Eye Rayden went down on one knee. King Rayden flashed Liyu a small smile. Lazy Rayden yawned and looked at Liyu as if he wanted to say something.

Probably that he wanted to sleep. Seeing that they had not changed and were back to good health, Liyu smiled and bowed slightly. “Thanks a lot, guys.” “I wouldn’t have been able to do it without your help.” Liyu said with a small smile.

Dead Eye Rayden shook his head. “No, Boss.” “It is our task. There is no need to thank us.” King Rayden nodded. “You are welcome.” “Although the battle was rough, it was also enjoyable.” Lazy Rayden only yawned even more.

He really just wanted to sleep. His eyelids were already heavy. “Thanks a lot.” Liyu said with a small, pained smile before continuing. “And also…” “I am sorry.” “So sorry for having you bear my pain.” “My sincere apology.”

Liyu said that with his head bowed. He was truly sorry for causing them pain. After all, he had sacrificed all three of them to secure the victory in the end. Letting them bear the brunt of his pain was something that made Liyu feel as if he had wronged them.

“No need to apologize, Boss.” “As the Boss, it is only normal that we bear your burden.” Dead Eye Rayden’s voice was as diligent as ever. King Rayden shrugged. “The pain is not a good feeling.” “But we understand how important winning the tournament is to you, so we gladly bear the part of your burden that we can.”

“Don’t feel sorry.” “It is what we choose to do.” Lazy Rayden nodded with another wide yawn. Seeing the three reflections of himself and their sincerity, Liyu nodded and smiled. “Thanks a lot.” “You guys are the best reflections anyone could ever have.”

Dead Eye Rayden nodded, feeling touched by his Boss’s words. Lazy Rayden looked at Liyu differently for a second before nodding. King Rayden also felt quite touched. But unlike the other two, he had stayed with Liyu the longest.

And he knew for certain that Liyu wasn’t being good and emotional for the sake of being emotional. He suddenly had a bad feeling about this. “Speak up.” “What is it now?” King Rayden cut straight to the chase.

“You are only telling us good words…” “But there is undoubtedly some bad news that will follow.” Liyu blinked like a child caught doing something bad. He looked at King Rayden’s stare. Then at the way Lazy Rayden was looking at him, as if he wanted to kick his head right off.

Only Dead Eye Rayden remained as diligent and respectful as ever. “Tch…” Liyu’s lips curled upward as he rubbed his head sheepishly. “Actually, it is nothing much, guys…” “It is just that I learned that very soon, this world will end.”

“And to stop that from happening…” “We will have to work harder.” “That means going on more dangerous adventures and boosting our strength as fast as we can.” Liyu finished. Lazy Rayden’s eye twitched with annoyance. More work? Just when would he be able to sleep for eternity?

King Rayden sighed and then nodded. “Whatever.” “We are stuck together anyway.” Dead Eye Rayden was even more convinced. “Yes, Boss.” “Let’s do whatever you want to do without wasting time.” Liyu smiled.

He was about to speak more when his ears suddenly picked up the sound of footsteps. He immediately recalled his clones back into his system space and turned to face the door. A second later… The door swung open.

A disheveled girl carrying a bowl of water paused at the doorstep. Yuexin’s eyes were filled with shock and disbelief as she saw that Liyu had finally woken up. Seeing the familiar face standing at the door… Liyu flashed her a smile before speaking.

“I am back…”
