Chapter 942: Undead’s Attack

Chapter 942: Undead’s Attack

“Everyone! Take your positions before the undead reinforcements arrive!”

The commander’s voice boomed across the border wall, his expression grave as he witnessed the approaching horde.

Immediately, all the warriors rushed to their positions atop the wall, while assistants quickly refilled the archers’ quivers with fresh arrows.

Barrels filled with flammable oil were also brought forward and lined up, ready to be hurled at the enemy to incinerate large groups of undead in a single strike.

A cold wind swept across the battlefield as the entire border fell into an eerie silence, casting a chilling atmosphere over the area.

Any ordinary person would have collapsed in fear from the sheer tension alone, their courage shattered at the mere sight of the approaching undead.

Some of the soldiers’ legs trembled as they faced the overwhelming number of enemies. The suffocating aura of death pressed heavily upon them, sending chills down their spines.

“Just how are we supposed to defend against such a massive horde of undead…?” The captain muttered, his voice trembling with anxiety.

“Pull yourself together. You’re a captain—you must set an example for the others.” The commander spoke calmly, though his tone carried unmistakable authority.

“Let them come closer. Once they enter our range, we will launch our attack…” He added a moment later, carefully observing the undead movements with his enhanced senses.

Everything was in place, and every soldier stood ready to face the incoming tide of death.

A few minutes later, the wind began to rise unnaturally, as if a storm were gathering.

The cold intensified, making the already grim atmosphere even more oppressive.

The undead slowly advanced toward the great wall—the boundary separating the lifeless desert from the lands of the living.

Their appearance alone sent a chill through every warrior present, causing their legs to tremble with unease.

At the rear of the army, three skeletal figures led the horde, riding their mounts with an air of authority.

The very air seemed to tremble in their presence as a faint blue glow flickered within the hollow sockets of their eyes beneath their dark, rusted helmets.

Their mounts were massive skeletal wolves, nearly the size of houses, their bones exposed and jagged.

They were terrifying—beings that looked as though they had crawled straight out of hell, creatures that should not exist in this world.

The central undead, clad in black armor with a menacing aura, slowly raised one of its arms.

Immediately, the entire undead army came to an abrupt halt.

A heavy silence followed.

Not a single undead moved, as if they had all been frozen in place.

“T-Those three undead riding the wolves… they seem to be leading the entire army…” The captain muttered, his voice shaking with unease.

The commander observed them for a few seconds before responding, “Unlike the others, they appear to possess intelligence… This will make the battle far more difficult.”

His expression hardened at the realization. This was not a situation where mistakes could be afforded.

’Judging by their aura… they are likely above Master Rank Warriors… truly troublesome opponents.’ The commander thought, swallowing nervously as he assessed their presence.

He took a deep breath, steadying his heart. There was no room for hesitation now.

He had to raise the morale of his soldiers and drive away their fear so they could fight with resolve.

“Listen carefully, everyone! I know this situation looks dire… I feel it too. But this is not the time for fear!” The commander’s voice thundered across the battlefield, capturing every soldier’s attention.

“Before us stands a threat to all life on this continent—to our people, and to the families waiting for our return!”

“If we falter now, we lose everything—our friends, our families, our loved ones! So I ask you, as your commander, stand with me! Fight alongside me and destroy these vile creatures that threaten everything we hold dear!”

The commander unsheathed his sword and raised it toward the undead army, and in that moment, his aura surged skyward, sending a powerful gust of wind sweeping across the battlefield.

“So, who is going to fight with me?!” The commander roared, his voice echoing across the battlefield.

“Me!!!” All the warriors responded with a thunderous roar, nearly shaking the entire border!

Their auras surged, a fierce glint shining in their eyes, their resolve burning bright to protect their people and their families.

A satisfied smile appeared on the commander’s face, his fingers trembling with excitement. The fear within his heart vanished, replaced entirely by a thirst for battle.

’I never thought that hearing their resolve would elevate my own spirit as well… what a bunch of fools…’ He chuckled inwardly, amused by their response.

Suddenly, a chilling aura erupted from the distance as the leader of the undead forces raised his sword.

Sheechhhh!!

A grotesque sound echoed as it opened its mouth, and the blue flames within its eye sockets flared unnaturally.

With that signal, the undead army surged forward, charging toward the towering border wall.

Thousands of undead advanced with swords and shields in hand, rushing to break through the defenses and invade the lands of the living.

Seeing this, the commander immediately issued his command without hesitation.

“Archers! Nock your arrows and fire at once! Take down as many as you can!”

Swish! Swish!

Thousands of archers released their bowstrings simultaneously, sending a storm of arrows soaring into the night sky.

Each arrow burned with flame at its tip—a force capable of destroying the undead. The sky lit up as though fire itself was raining down upon the battlefield.

Yet the undead pressed forward relentlessly, devoid of fear, advancing even as death awaited them.

The flaming arrows struck their targets, piercing skulls and bones alike. Flames engulfed their bodies, reducing them to ash.

Even while burning, the undead continued their advance until their bodies collapsed into nothing but dust.

“Reload and keep firing!” The commander roared, noticing how the spreading flames were thinning their numbers.

This was their opportunity, and they could not afford to waste it.

Once again, the sky was filled with arrows as thousands of archers unleashed another volley toward the advancing horde.

Suddenly, an overwhelming pressure descended upon the battlefield as the three undead knights finally moved. Their swords radiated a dense, deathly aura as they swung toward the incoming arrows.

Whoosh!!!

A violent gust of wind erupted from their strikes, tearing through the sky and obliterating the arrows mid-flight.

The shattered arrows fell harmlessly to the ground, dealing no damage as the undead continued their advance.

The commander’s expression hardened at the sight, his grip tightening around his sword until his knuckles turned white.

“Awakened Warriors… charge forward!!” The commander roared as he leaped from the wall with tremendous force.

He landed amidst the undead and, with a single swing of his blade, destroyed multiple enemies by shattering the red crystal cores within their chests.

Hundreds of awakened warriors followed, jumping down from the wall and charging into the enemy ranks with unrestrained fury.

The two forces clashed violently as the sounds of metal colliding and bones shattering filled the battlefield. Their blades glowed red with Qi, cutting through the undead with lethal precision.

Meanwhile, the archers continued to provide support from above, raining arrows down upon the enemy while the frontline warriors carved their way forward.

Witnessing this, the three intelligent undead advanced. Their massive mounts leaped high into the air before landing directly before the warriors.

Roarrrr!!!!

The undead wolves unleashed a terrifying roar, the force so immense that it sent shockwaves through the battlefield, blasting nearby undead apart.

“Don’t act recklessly, these wolves are dangerous!” The commander roared at the warriors, his expression cold and focused.

He tightened his grip on his sword as his aura surged, wrapping his Qi around the blade before launching a powerful strike at one of the wolves.

Bang! His sword struck the massive undead wolf’s leg, cleaving it off with a single devastating blow.

However, his attack didn’t stop there—his blade continued forward, carving deeply into the other leg as well, causing it to collapse under the wolf’s own weight.

The wolf crashed heavily onto the ground, and seizing the opportunity, the commander drove his sword straight into the glowing red crystal within its chest, shattering it completely.

One was down, while the other warriors engaged the remaining two wolves, their battle sending powerful shockwaves across the battlefield.

At that moment, the three powerful undead made their move, charging into the fray and engaging the warriors in a fierce clash that shook the entire battlefield.

Flames engulfed the lesser undead that stood in the way, but the three intelligent undead effortlessly dodged the incoming attacks.

A few moments later, one of the powerful undead fell, brought down by ten warriors working together to overwhelm it.

It required immense effort just to defeat a single one, as these undead possessed both intelligence and combat ability.

After several more intense exchanges, the remaining two undead were also slain by groups of warriors fighting in coordination.

However, there were casualties among the warriors as well—nearly fifty had fallen, while many others were severely injured and being treated in the tents.

Although many lives were lost and others were left permanently crippled, they had achieved victory.

They had successfully prevented the undead from breaching the wall and annihilated the invading force.

Just then, a loud flapping sound echoed through the air, accompanied by a terrifying rush of something moving at incredible speed.

Looking up at the night sky, the commander saw thousands of vampires approaching from afar.

“Although it’s a bit late… the allied forces have finally arrived…”
