Chapter 943 943: Allied Forces Assembly
Whoosh!!! Whoosh!!!
The sound of the vampires’ approach echoed throughout the camp, triggering panic among the warriors, who mistook it for an enemy assault.
All the warriors grabbed their weapons and rushed out of their tents to defend the camp and the border, especially since not even an hour had passed since the last attack.
“Everyone! Prepare yourselves to defend the camp! It’s an aerial attack!!” Someone shouted in panic, his voice ringing across the entire camp.
Upon hearing this, everyone prepared themselves to fight to the death once again.
“Calm down and lower your weapons… it’s the allied forces of the Vampire Kingdom. There’s no need to panic.”
Suddenly, the commander’s calm voice reached the panicked warriors, causing them to lower their weapons, though hesitation still lingered in their eyes.
Thousands of vampires were flying across the sky, their wings spread wide. Anyone would mistake it for an attack, as the darkness obscured their vision.
They couldn’t tell whether it was friend or foe, so they had reacted purely on instinct.
A few seconds later, King Evander approached the commander with steady steps, an authoritative aura surrounding him.
“Are you the one in charge here?” King Evander asked, his sharp gaze fixed on the commander.
“Indeed. I am the commander here, responsible for everything.” The commander nodded firmly.
King Evander noticed the injured being tended to, the scent of blood lingering in the air the moment he arrived.
“Did a battle take place not long before we arrived?”
Taking a deep breath, the commander replied, “Yes. And it wasn’t just mindless undead attacking us. This time, three intelligent undead knights led thousands of troops.”
“Fortunately, we managed to defeat them all, though at the cost of many lives. For now, the threat has been neutralized.”
The commander’s voice carried deep sorrow for the fallen, though his expression remained stern.
“You have my condolences for your men… and forgive us for not arriving sooner,” King Evander said in a softer tone. “Had we arrived earlier, the outcome might have been different.”
“Give me a detailed explanation of the current situation,” King Evander added, his expression turning serious.
The commander nodded and led him into the main tent to explain everything in detail.
While the commander briefed King Evander, the rest of the vampires selected locations and began setting up their tents.
Unlike ordinary tents, the vampires’ shelters were specially designed to block sunlight completely, allowing them to rest safely during the day.
—
Two days passed, and the undead continued launching attacks on the border at irregular intervals, their assaults becoming increasingly frequent.
Stronger undead began appearing suddenly, accompanied by massive numbers of lesser undead.
These attacks occurred only at night, when they would emerge without warning and launch full-scale assaults on the great border wall.
Thankfully, with the vampires present, the warriors could finally rest during the night without worry. After all, vampires were creatures of the night.
They could also take to the skies and strike from above, making it easier to eliminate threats before the situation escalated further.
Although the number of undead continued to grow and their attacks became more frequent, the vampires had suffered comparatively fewer casualties.
A massive number of carriages and cavalry approached the border, the flag of the allied forces fluttering in the wind.
The warriors could barely contain their excitement at the sight of the approaching army, their hearts pounding with anticipation.
“Look ahead! The rest of the allied forces are here!!” Someone shouted excitedly, drawing everyone’s attention toward the distance.
“They’re here! They’re finally here!”
Cheers erupted across the camp as people rushed out of their tents to witness the arrival. Relief and joy were clearly visible on their faces.
Thousands of soldiers marched toward the border, their armor gleaming under the sunlight—a breathtaking sight that stirred the hearts of every warrior present.
Suddenly, the commander’s booming voice echoed across the entire border, reaching every ear.
“Listen up, everyone! The allied forces have finally arrived! From this moment on, we fight with everything we have to defend the border at all costs!”
Every warrior immediately turned their attention toward the commander, listening to his words in silence.
“The previous attacks by the undead are nothing compared to what is coming next… it will be a battle of survival—kill or be killed, or be turned into one of them. So rest while you can. Once the war begins, you won’t even have time to breathe, let alone rest.”
A chill ran down the spines of the soldiers as their expressions stiffened. They now understood just how terrifying the coming battle would be.
Their chances of survival would drop to almost nothing, and many would lose their lives fighting—for their people, their families, and their loved ones.
The commander swept his gaze across his men and continued with a grave expression, “Take as much rest as you can before the Undead King arrives with his army.”
“Do not waste your time on trivial things… the situation will soon descend into chaos.”
After delivering his words, the commander returned to his tent.
A few moments later, the rest of the allied forces reached the border and began setting up additional tents for the incoming soldiers.
They had been traveling nonstop and required proper rest before facing the enemy. In their exhausted state, they wouldn’t last even minutes against the Undead King’s army.
All the leaders of the allied nations gathered under a large shelter, where a massive table displayed a detailed map of the continent.
“This is the current position of the Undead King and his army, according to the latest report from our scouts.” The commander said as he placed a wooden marker on the map.
King Evander looked at him and asked, “How long will it take for them to reach us?”
“By tomorrow evening…”
“Hiss!!” Everyone inhaled sharply, their expressions freezing as a heavy tension filled the tent.
“And when did you receive this report?” Queen Lilith asked sharply, breaking the silence.
“A few hours ago… just before your arrival. His Majesty Evander was resting, so I waited until everyone had gathered before sharing this information.” The commander replied.
A heavy silence descended upon the tent.
Everyone felt the crushing weight of the situation pressing heavily against their chests.
