My Celestial Ascension

Chapter 870 870: The Southern District

In the southern district of the Lawless City, the alleys were pitch black, with no magic lamps on most of the streets. The air carried a heavy, awful smell of decay.

The streets were mostly filled with beggars and people wearing dark robes, moving quietly from one place to another. No one spoke.

However, at the heart of the district, the scene changed—it was bright and alive. There stood a massive market, brimming with people buying and selling all kinds of goods.

Most of the items were related to magic and sorcery, while cursed objects and harmful substances were openly sold alongside useful materials.

This was the largest black market in the entire Beast Continent—the Black Gala, a place where anyone could buy anything they desired. As long as the item existed in this world, it could be found here.

As long as one could pay, they could buy nearly anything. But there were always risks involved. There were no safety laws here, and many criminals often targeted the wealthy.

The city also housed an illegal auction house—the biggest one in the entire continent. The auction was held once every week, where rare treasures from across the world were sold to the highest bidder.

In this part of the district, everything was controlled by the Dark Society Syndicate, more specifically, by Morgana Duskborne, the current leader of the organization.

She ruled everything from the shadows, watching silently. Almost everyone in the district had been bought by her, working directly under her command—including all the merchants.

Everyone in the Lawless City feared the Dark Society Syndicate for their mastery over darkness. They were especially feared for their ability to inflict pain through dark arts.

Not only that, but they were also masters of curses, capable of bringing misfortune and ruin to anyone who dared to offend them.

This was the reason everyone obeyed the Dark Society Syndicate in this district. No one dared to get on their bad side.

Offending the Dark Society Syndicate meant only one thing—death.

Inside a dimly lit room, a woman lay on a luxurious sofa, so large that several people could have rested on it comfortably.

The room was filled with the soothing scent of burning incense, a sweet, flowery fragrance that lingered in the air as the woman read a book in quiet comfort.

She suddenly closed the book, slipping in a bookmark. Her brows furrowed slightly as she sensed someone approaching her room—the footsteps were quick and urgent.

“Madam, may I come inside?” a woman’s voice called from the other side of the door, soft and gentle.

“You may enter,” Morgana replied, not bothering to lift her eyes from the book.

A moment later, a woman entered wearing a black robe; her face was hidden by a mask, though the robe still revealed the shape of her body.

“Did something interesting happen today? A priceless treasure perhaps?” Morgana asked, finally raising her eyes to the newcomer.

“No, Madam. Nothing like that,” the woman shook her head, drawing Morgana’s full attention.

“Oh? Then what is it? You look as if something noteworthy has happened.”

“Madam, I bring news that Lord Cassius is dead—alongside thirty of his men—in Lady Nyx’s territory today.”

Without delay, the woman reported the events from the eastern district: Cassius and his men had perished.

Morgana’s eyebrows shot up in shock; she even let the book fall from her hands in disbelief.

“This is impossible… Cassius could not be killed so easily, not with so many men protecting him!” she exclaimed, incredulous.

From what Morgana knew of Cassius, he was not someone one could kill without great effort. His physique was astonishingly strong.

Normal weapons barely harmed him. Even many magical treasures could scarcely pierce his skin; he was both a formidable warrior and a mage.

He had mastered both magic and aura to such a degree that he seemed invincible—on a league of his own.

And now that man was dead, felled by a woman. It was humiliating for the Red Dragon Syndicate, but the news stirred Morgana’s curiosity—she wanted to know how Nyx’s daughter managed it.

‘The Lawless City will become chaotic soon… I must prepare my syndicate for any outcome,’ Morgana thought, her face hardening as the weight of the situation settled on her.

After a long beat, she looked at the woman with a grave expression.

“Clara, inform all our members to prepare for anything. The city will turn chaotic—start preparations early,” she ordered.

And she continued, “Also, look for information on Nyx’s daughter. Remember to be careful, she is very dangerous.”

“I understand, Madam.” Clara nodded with a very serious look on her face before leaving the room, leaving Morgana alone.

Once Clara left, Morgana snapped her fingers in a delicate motion, and suddenly, a pen and paper materialized on the small table before her.

“I should send a letter to Nyx. I’d like to meet her daughter.” A small smirk appeared on her face as she held the pen and said, “I want to personally see the person who took down Cassius and thirty of his men alone.”

“And that little group of hers… so strange, it was as though they suddenly appeared out of nowhere on our continent.” She muttered with a puzzled look on her face, feeling deeply intrigued.

Shortly after, she finished writing the letter and called out to a servant to deliver it to the Green Viper Organization.

“I can’t wait to meet them all and see what’s so special about them… It will be very interesting… heh!” Morgana chuckled softly before she gently closed her eyes.

Meanwhile, all the mages working under Morgana received a voice transmission from Clara regarding the situation.

Immediately, a powerful yet invisible barrier began to form around the southern district, completely enveloping it in a giant dome.

The barrier had a very unique property — aside from the members of the Dark Society Syndicate, no one else could sense its presence.

There was already a protective dome covering the district, and now this new one only served to enhance surveillance, allowing every movement within the area to be watched from the headquarters.

With this new barrier, the Dark Society Organization had more eyes and ears throughout the entire district. Nothing could be hidden from Morgana’s sight now, as she was the one who had created this barrier with her Dark Magic.

As the sun climbed high into the sky, Yuan and his wives were ready to head back to the Elven Kingdom. Mireya was especially excited to meet Miss Zara and the others, as she had missed them dearly.

Nyx was handling the final affairs of the organization, having decided to retire from her position as the head and hand over her role to someone very capable.

After completing all the necessary procedures, she returned to Emma’s side with a huge smile on her face and hugged her tightly.

“Finally, I’m free from the burden I’ve been carrying for so long. It feels so good to be free of such heavy responsibility,” Nyx muttered with a soft smile before showering Emma’s face with gentle kisses.

“Does that mean you’re going to come with us now?” Emma asked with an excited look on her face.

Nyx nodded with a huge smile as she let go of the hug and looked toward Yuan and the others.

“I hope you guys don’t mind me coming with you all?” she asked.

“Of course not, Nyx. After all, we’re a family now,” Anna Grace replied with a gentle smile.

“You’re right. We’re a family now. Thanks to my foolish daughter,” Nyx chuckled softly as she gently pinched Emma’s cheeks.

Shortly after, Nyx packed all of her belongings inside her Magic Pouch and was ready to go with Yuan and his wives to the Elven Kingdom.

“Shall we head out now? I’ve finished my preparations already,” Nyx said to Yuan with a smile as she stood beside her daughter.

“We’re ready. Emma will carry you on her flying sword,” Yuan nodded.

A few minutes later, they soared into the sky riding their flying swords. Emma carried Nyx with her, and Nyx couldn’t help but look down at the city with a dazed expression.

Nyx had never seen the world from such a height before, and it left her speechless by how beautiful it looked from above.

The city appeared mesmerizing from such an altitude, and the people below seemed so tiny—almost like ants. She gazed at the territory she had ruled for nearly half her life and couldn’t help but smile softly.

‘I never knew my territory would look so beautiful from up here… it’s a brand-new experience for me,’ Nyx thought with a small smile on her face.

A few minutes later, Yuan and the others arrived at the Elven Kingdom and descended directly toward the Elven Palace.

Miss Zara, Little Zoe, and Selvariel emerged from the palace the moment they sensed Yuan and the others’ presence approaching.

“Big Brother Yuan! I missed you so much!” Little Zoe shouted with a huge smile before running toward him.

Lily saw this and rolled her eyes in annoyance before muttering, “Hmph! It seems someone decided to ignore me, as if I don’t even exist at all.”

Upon hearing this, Little Zoe stopped abruptly and looked at Lily with her twinkling eyes, acting adorably cute before she slowly approached her.

‘T-This is bad! Big Sister Lily looks so pissed right now! What should I do?!’ Little Zoe swallowed nervously as she looked at Lily, feeling her heartbeat rise.

“Big Sister Lily! I missed you so much!” she shouted with a huge smile before pulling her into a tight embrace.

Feeling the hug, Lily also wrapped her arms around Little Zoe’s small body, and a smile appeared on her face. Her earlier anger instantly vanished after being hugged by Little Zoe.

“I also missed you, Little Zoe!” Lily exclaimed before kissing her cute cheeks, leaving a red mark on them.

Meanwhile, Miss Zara looked at the woman standing beside Emma. Her appearance was almost identical to Emma’s—except she seemed like a more mature version of her.

Miss Zara immediately approached Nyx with a warm smile and said, “Are you perhaps Emma’s mother? By the way, I’m Zara, it’s very nice to finally meet you.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lady Zara,” Nyx nodded politely with a gentle smile before shaking Miss Zara’s hand.

Once the introductions were over, Mireya led everyone to the living area of the palace, and when everyone had settled on the sofas, she ordered the maids to prepare tea for everyone.
